Historical evolution
According to the cultural relics unearthed from the damientang site, as early as 6000 years ago, the ancestors worked and lived in Pinghu.
In the spring and Autumn period, it was the hometown of Wuyuan in the state of Yue.
In the 25th year of the reign of the king of Qin (222 BC), Haiyan County was set up. Now Pinghu City is a part of Haiyan County.
At the end of the Qin Dynasty or the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, the county government sank into Zhehu and moved to Wuyuan township (now Donghu area, Danghu Town, Pinghu City).
In the second year of Yongjian (127) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the county government sank into Danghu and moved to guyishan (near Zhapu today) in Qijing township.
In the seventh year of Xiankang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (341), the county government moved from guyishan to mayucheng (now Southeast of Wuyuan Town, Haiyan County).
In 1430, Haiyan County was divided into four townships, namely Dayi, Wuyuan, Qijing and Huating, which were built as Pinghu county. The county was governed by Danghu Town, which belongs to Jiaxing Prefecture and is subordinate to the Minister of Chengxuan of Zhejiang Province. Because it was sunk into Danghu in the Han Dynasty, it was named Pinghu. After that, the construction remained unchanged for a long time, and the situation was basically stable.
administrative division
After liberation, Pinghu county administrative system had three changes. In 1950, when the scale of districts and townships was adjusted, 10 villages of Qilian Township were assigned to Haiyan County and 4 villages of Daicheng township to Jiashan County; in 1958, when the people's commune was established, Xitang commune of Haiyan County and Zhongdai and Caoqiao commune of Jiaxing county were assigned to Haiyan County; in 1961, Xitang commune was still assigned to Haiyan County.
In June 1991, with the approval of the State Council, Pinghu county was abolished and Pinghu City was established.
In 2000, the administrative village division was adjusted from 286 to 138.
In 2004, the original and 10 towns were adjusted to 3 streets and 7 towns, namely Danghu street, Zhongdai street, Caoqiao street, Zhapu Town, Xindai Town, Xincang Town, Huanggu Town, quantang Town, Guangchen town and LindaI town.
In 2009, quantang town and Huanggu town were abolished and dushangang town was merged.
