Shanzhou district is located in the west of Sanmenxia City, Henan Province. It borders Mianchi County in the East, Lingbao City in the west, Ganshan mountain in the South and Luoning County in the south, the Yellow River in the north and Pinglu County in Shanxi Province. It is surrounded by Sanmenxia City and lakeside District in the East, West and south.
In 2017, it covers an area of 1609.73 square kilometers, has jurisdiction over 4 towns and 9 townships, and has a total population of 3500100, with an annual GDP of 21.8 billion yuan.
Shaanxi is a warm temperate continental monsoon climate, with high terrain in the South and low terrain in the north. Gold, bauxite, coal and geothermal mineral water are listed as four dominant resources. Longhai railway, Zhengzhou Xi'an high speed railway, Lianhuo expressway, national highway 209 and national highway 310 crisscross the territory. Historical evolution
In today's Shanzhou area, human beings have been living and reproducing in the Paleolithic age. During the Neolithic period (6000 years ago), large tribal communities appeared, mainly distributed in Xizhang village, Caiyuan, yaotou, renmazhai, zhangbian, Xiwang, etc.
From the 21st century B.C. to the 16th century B.C., Shanzhou was the central area ruled by the Xia Dynasty. From the 16th century BC to the 11th century BC, Shaanxi belonged to the Shang Dynasty.
In the 11th century B.C., Zhou destroyed the Shang Dynasty and enfeoffed the state of Jiao and the state of Guo in Shaanxi. Later, Shaanxi became the dividing line of the two ruling areas in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. "From the east of Shaanxi, it's Princess Zhou; from the west of Shaanxi, it's Princess Zhao."
In 775 B.C., "the people of Guo destroyed Jiao" and Shaanxi returned to Guo. In 655 B.C., Guo State was destroyed by Jin State, and Shaanxi belongs to Jin State. In 453 B.C., Han, Zhao and Wei "three families divided Jin", and Shaanxi was divided into Wei.
In the 10th year of Huigong of Qin Dynasty (390 BC), Shaanxi county was established. Since then, the state of Qin and the state of Wei fought in Shaanxi for many times. Shaanxi sometimes belonged to Qin, sometimes to Wei. In 225 BC, the state of Wei was destroyed by the state of Qin.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Shanxian County belonged to Hongnong county.
Shanzhou was established in 487, the 11th year of Taihe reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. After that, Shanxian belonged to Shanzhou in Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In 1724, Shanzhou was upgraded to Zhili.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Shaanxi Prefecture was abolished and Shaanxi county was established. In 1928, it was under the jurisdiction of the third administrative region of Henan Province. In 1932, it was under the jurisdiction of the 11th administrative supervision district of Henan Province. In the meantime, Shaanxi county is the administrative office.
In May 1949, Shanxian County was liberated, which was under the jurisdiction of Shanzhou Commissioner's office of Henan Province.
In April 1952, Shanzhou district was abolished and merged into Luoyang district. Shanxian County was under the jurisdiction of Luoyang district.
At the end of 1959, the construction of Sanmenxia Dam, a key water conservancy project of the Yellow River, began, and Shaanxi county was incorporated into Sanmenxia City.
In October 1961, it worked separately with Sanmenxia City. In March 1962, Shaanxi county was restored. The county Party committee and county government were set up in Sanmenxia City and subordinate to Luoyang district.
In April 1986, Luoyang area was abolished, Sanmenxia City was upgraded to a provincial city, and Shaanxi county was under the jurisdiction of Sanmenxia City.
In May 1994, Shaanxi county government moved to Wentang village, Daying township.
On January 6, 2016, Shanzhou District of Sanmenxia City was established.
