Wendeng District Wendeng District, under the jurisdiction of Weihai City, Shandong Province, China, is located in the east of Shandong Peninsula. In Xia and Shang Dynasties, it was Qingzhou, in spring and Autumn period, it was Lai and Muzi of Qi, and in Warring States period, it was Qi.
The Qin Dynasty dismissed the princes and set up prefectures and counties. Wendeng was the prefecture of Qi.
In the Western Han Dynasty, Wendeng belonged to Dongmou, buye and Changyang counties in Donglai County of Qingzhou.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the province entered Changyang all night, and Wendeng was called Changyang County. During the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to Changyang County, Changguang County, Qingzhou, Wei state.
In the Jin and Liu Song Dynasties, they belonged to Changguang County of Qingzhou and Muping County of Donglai.
In the later Wei Dynasty, it belonged to Guanyang and Muping counties, respectively.
In the fourth year of Tiantong (568) of the Northern Qi Dynasty, Wendeng county was set up in Muping and Guanyang. It was named after Wenshan mountain, and belongs to Changguang County of Guangzhou. Zhou Yinzhi.
In Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Donglai County of Qingzhou.
In Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Henan road. In the first year of Wude (618), Dengzhou was set up and Wendeng county was its subordinate; in the first year of Zhenguan (627), Dengzhou was abolished and Laizhou was its subordinate; in the first year of Ruyi (692), Dengzhou was set up in Muping and Wendeng was transferred to Penglai in the third year of Shenlong (707). Wendeng district is located in the east of the second uplift of Xinhua Xia system and the center of Wenrong uplift. Due to the long-term uplift, there is no Mesoproterozoic Mesozoic Jurassic strata. The geology is simple, the magmatic rocks are widely distributed, and the structures are not well developed. Below the stratum, the metamorphic rock series of the second formation of the Proterozoic Jiaodong Group is dominant, and the Quaternary deposits are all over the whole area, including alluvial, proluvial, residual slope and marine deposits.

The precipitation in spring and autumn is less, and drought often occurs. The annual sunshine hours are 2540.7 hours and the frost free period is 194 days. The winter is long, the prevailing dry cold winter monsoon from the northern part of the mainland, the temperature is low, and it is a low temperature station in the peninsula. Summer is the shortest, and warm and humid summer monsoon from the sea prevails. Spring and autumn are the transition period of winter summer monsoon, and there are more Gales in spring.

The water resources in Wendeng district mainly come from the atmospheric precipitation in the territory, with an average annual rainfall of 803.8 mm. The surface water resources amount to 417 million cubic meters, and the groundwater resources amount to 151 million cubic meters. After deducting the repeated amount of 65 million cubic meters, the average annual resources amount is 503 million cubic meters.
Wendeng district has developed and utilized four hot springs: Qilitang in the urban area, Tangcun Tang 13 km south of the city, Hulei Tang 16 km southeast of the city, Daying Tang 22 km southwest of the city, with water temperature of 39 ~ 77 ℃. Mishan Reservoir, a large reservoir with a total capacity of 280 million cubic meters and a maximum dam height of 21.1 meters, is the largest fresh water source in Wendeng District of Weihai. The groundwater in the area belongs to shallow groundwater with a depth of 3-10m.
