Linchuan District Linchuan District, subordinate to Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the east of Jiangxi Province, in the middle reaches of Fuhe River, adjacent to Jinxi County and Dongxiang District in the East, Chongren county and Fengcheng City in the west, Nancheng county and Yihuang County in the south, and Nanchang City and Jinxian County in the north. With a total area of 2124.083 square kilometers, the district has jurisdiction over 7 streets, 19 towns and 8 townships. At the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Linchuan district was 1 million 300 thousand, of which 710 thousand of the agricultural population.
Linchuan was founded in the eighth year of Yongyuan (96) of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is the seat of Fuzhou municipal Party committee and government, and the political, economic and cultural center of the city. Linchuan District is 98 kilometers away from Nanchang City, which is in Nanchang 1-hour economic circle. Changfu railway, Fuyin expressway, Fuji expressway, Fujin expressway, Dongchang expressway, 316 national highway, 320 National Highway and Changxia highway pass through the territory.
In 2019, Linchuan District will achieve a GDP of 46.957 billion yuan and a total revenue of 2.412 billion yuan.
History of construction
In the eighth year of Yongyuan (96) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Linru county was set up as a part of Nancheng. The county government was located in the ancient town of Linchuan and still belonged to Yuzhang county.
In the second year of Wu Taiping (257), Linchuan county was established, and the county government was located in Linru county. Linchuan County governs Linru, Nancheng, Xifeng, Xinjian, Anpu, Yongcheng, Yihuang, Nanfeng, Dongxing and Xicheng counties.
In the ninth year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (589), Pingchen and Yang Wutong, the general manager, were pacified by envoys. Linchuan and Bashan counties were abolished and Fuzhou was established (meaning pacification). The name of Fuzhou began here. Xifeng and Dingchuan counties were merged into Linru county and renamed Linchuan County; in the third year of Daye (607), Fuzhou was changed into Linchuan county.

In the eighth year of Kaibao (975) of Song Dynasty, Fuzhou was changed into Junzhou, and Fuzhou and Jianwu troops returned to Song Dynasty, belonging to Jiangnan West Road; in the first year of Taiping Xingguo (976), Fuzhou and Jianwu were changed into Jiangnan Road; in the first year of Shaoxing (1131), Fuzhou and Jianchang were changed into Jiangnan East Road; in the fourth year of Shaoxing (1134), they were restored to Jiangnan West Road.
In 1276, the army of Fuzhou was changed to Fuzhou Road, belonging to the province of xingzhongshu in Jiangxi Province.
In the first month of the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1368), Fuzhou road was changed into Fuzhou Prefecture; in the ninth year of Hongwu (1376), Zhongshu province was abolished, and Fuzhou Prefecture governed Linchuan, Chongren, Yihuang, Jinxi and Le'an.
In the ninth year of Yongzheng (1731) of the Qing Dynasty, the two prefectures of Fuzhou and Jianchang were transferred to Nanfu Jiandao of Jiangxi Province, and the counties and administrative posts remained unchanged.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Fuzhou Prefecture was abolished, and Linchuan county was directly under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province; in the twenty fourth year of the Republic of China (1935), Linchuan was designated as the seventh administrative region of Jiangxi Province.
In April 1950, Linchuan city was merged into Linchuan county and changed into Chengguan District. On May 16, 1987, Linchuan county and Fuzhou City were abolished and Linchuan City (county level) was established. The former administrative region of Linchuan county and Fuzhou City was taken as the administrative region of Linchuan City, and the Municipal People's government was stationed at Gandong avenue of Fuzhou City. On June 23, 2000, Fuzhou region and county level Linchuan City were abolished and prefecture level Fuzhou City was established. The Municipal People's Government in the newly established Linchuan District shall take the administrative region of the original county-level Linchuan City as the administrative region of Linchuan District.

Linchuan District is located in the transition zone from GANFU PLAIN to Wuyishan district. The terrain is long from north to South and narrow from east to west. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. It is surrounded by hills and alluvial plain in the middle, forming a small basin gradually inclined from south to North. The altitude of most areas is between 30 and 80 meters. The southern mountain is generally about 300 meters above sea level, and Furong mountain is 1176 meters above sea level, the highest mountain in the territory. Generally, the altitude of eastern mountain is about 200 meters, and the highest peak, Linggu peak, is 321 meters.

Linchuan District belongs to Fuhe River Basin of Poyang Lake water system, with Fuhe River as the trunk, crisscross river ports and rich water sources. The main rivers are Fuhe River. The Yihuang River, Chongren River, Dongxiang River and menggang river all flow into Fuhe River and into Poyang Lake.
Fuhe River is called Xujiang River in the upper reaches and Rushui River in the middle reaches. It flows into the middle part of Linchuan and joins with huanggangkou river. As the largest river in the territory, it originates from xuemuling, Guangchang county, at the West foot of Wuyishan mountains on the border between Jiangxi and Fujian. It enters liaocun village of pengtian Township through Nanfeng and Nancheng huilitan rivers, flows through xiamashan and namenggang River, passes through Fuzhou to huanggangkou and Linshui, and goes to nayunshan River in front of Luozhen town. It enters Jinxian County, enters Ganjiang River in Nanchang, and finally flows into Poyang Lake. Fu River flows through the territory for 127 kilometers, with an average width of 500 meters and a maximum width of 1000 meters.
Yihuang River, formed by the confluence of Yishui and Huangshui in Yihuang County, enters the area from the southern end of Longxi Town, passes through Qiuxi, Hangbu and Shangdundu, and joins Chongren river at lintouzui of Shangdundu. It is called Linshui and flows into Fu River at huanggangkou, with a total length of 116 km and a flow length of 34 km in the area.
Chongren River, originated in xiaojinzhu and Baotang village of Le'an County, flows through Le'an and Chongren, enters at Dongyuan bridge of Gaoping Town, joins with Yihuang river at litiouzui of Shangdundu Town, and flows northward through Linshui into Fuhe River, with a total length of 173 km and a flow length of 6 km in the area. The average river width is 160 meters, and the maximum is 210 meters. After confluence with the Yihe River, it flows into the Linshui River, with an average width of 420 meters and a maximum width of 480 meters.
Dongxiang River, also known as Yunshan River, has two ports, South Port originated in Jinxi County, North Port originated in meimaofeng, Yuyi Township, Dongxiang County. After the confluence of the two ports in Mawei Town, they are called Dongxiang river. They enter from Luohu to the northwest and flow into Fuhe River through changkai and Yunshan to Chengqian of Luozhen town and chaibukou of Jinxian. The river is 35 km long with an average width of 70 m and a maximum width of 90 M.
Dongguan River, also known as menggang, originates from Sanfang village of Rongshan town in the district. It flows through Hebu, Dongguan, shangniejiangkou village of Songhu Township and into Fuhe River, with a total length of 38 kilometers.
