Huichang County, a county under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the southeast of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, at the West foot of Wuyishan Yumai, the north end of Nanling Yumai, the upstream of Gongjiang River, a tributary of Ganjiang River. It is adjacent to Wuping and Changting in Fujian Province in the southeast, Xunwu in the south, Anyuan in the southwest, Dudu in the northwest and Ruijin in the northeast. It is the thoroughfare of Jiangxi, Fujian and Guangdong. Huichang is a concentrated Hakka county. More than 95% of the population are Hakkas. The area is 2709.91 square kilometers, with 6 towns and 13 townships under it, and 531 thousand and 600 registered residence population in 2018.
Huichang county is a key county for poverty alleviation and development in China, the second batch of demonstration counties for ecological agriculture construction in China, and a commodity grain base county in Jiangxi Province. There are tin, rock salt, fluorite, limestone, rare earth and so on. Specialties are Huichang rice noodles, Huichang sauce, etc. There are 323 national highway, 206 National Highway, Ganlong railway, Chengxia Expressway and Ji Guang Expressway passing through the territory.
Huichang county is an old revolutionary base. There are red revolutionary sites in Huichang, Xunwu, Anyuan, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. Scenic spots include hanxianyan cliff stone carvings, Yangjiao ancient castle, huichangshan Forest Park, Huixian hot spring, etc. In April 2019, the people's Government of Jiangxi Province decided to withdraw Huichang county from poverty-stricken counties.

Ganzhou Songcheng ancient charm
In 982, Huichang county was established in Jiuzhou town. It is the Qianzhou state of Jiangnan West Road. In the 23rd year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1153), Qianzhou was changed to Ganzhou, Huichang was promoted to army in the 4th year of shaoding (1231), and Xianchun was restored to county in the 5th year of Xianchun (1269). According to Huichang county annals, the county was set up in the eighth year of Taiping Xingguo (983) in the Northern Song Dynasty, when the town people chiseled 12 bricks with "Huichang" seal characters on them, so "Huichang" is the name of the county.
In the first year of Dade in Yuan Dynasty (1297), Huichang was promoted to a prefecture and governed Ruijin county. In 1369, Huichang was restored to be a county. Since then, Huichang in Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Ganzhou Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the prefecture system of the Qing Dynasty was abolished. In the next year, the county system was unified, and each county was directly under the province. Huichang belongs to Jiangxi Province.
In 1932, Jiangxi Province was divided into 13 administrative regions. Huichang was the 12th Administrative Region (the office of the chief executive set up Ningdu).
In 1935, Jiangxi Province was divided into eight administrative regions. Huichang was the eighth Administrative Region (Ningdu was set up) until Huichang was liberated in August 1949. In 1929, Mao Zedong and Zhu De led the Red Army to Huichang and established the red regime, the junmenling underground District Committee of the Communist Party of China; in October 1931, the Soviet government of Huichang county and the Huichang County Committee of the Communist Party of China were established; in July 1932, Huichang, Xunwu and Anyuan jointly established the Central County Committee; in February 1933, Huichang, junmenling and Xijiang were set up in Huichang County; in September 1934, the three counties were merged Chang county.
In September 1931, the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army liberated the northern area of Huichang. In October, the "Huichang County Revolutionary Committee" was established. It was first stationed in Zhuangbu, and then moved to the county seat, under the Central Soviet government. In January 1932, the Revolutionary Committee of Huichang county was abolished and the Soviet government of Huichang county was established. In July 1933, Xijiang and menling counties were established. Huichang was divided into three counties, which were under the Soviet government of Guangdong and Jiangxi Province. In May 1934, Xijiang county was designated as a county directly under the central government. In the same year, Su of Huichang County merged with menling and suyudu Creek of xun'an county to form Su of xun'an County, which was subordinate to Su of Gannan province. Xijiang county is under the Ruixi special committee of the CPC. In October 1934, after the long march of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army, the Soviet regimes in Huichang, Xijiang and menling counties disintegrated one after another, and Huichang was restored to one county.
On August 22, 1949, Huichang County People's government was set up after Huichang was liberated. In mid September, the office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision of Ningdu district was established, under which Huichang was subordinate. In August 1952, Ningdu district was abolished, and Huichang was under the Ganzhou regional Commissioner's office. Since then, the administrative division of Ganzhou has changed its name many times, and Huichang has been subordinate to it.

On October 22, 2001, Xiangjiang town was abolished and transferred to wenwuba town.
On October 21, 2003, fenghuangdong township was abolished and put under the jurisdiction of Xijiang Town, wenwuba town and Zhuangkou town respectively; Changling township was abolished and the established system was put under the jurisdiction of junmenling town.

Huichang county is dominated by low mountains and hills. The terrain is high around and low in the middle. It is slightly palmate from southeast to northwest.
Huichang county is surrounded by mountains on all sides, and its central part is long and narrow, leaning from southeast to northwest. The main peak of Nanling Mountain, panguzhang, is 1184 meters, which is the natural barrier between Jiangxi and Guangdong. The main peak, yangshidong, is 1107.8 meters above sea level. It is the natural boundary between Jiangxi and Fujian. In the East and southwest, the terrain is higher, surrounded by low mountains and overlapping peaks. In the north and northwest, the terrain is low, with rolling hills and continuous hills. The mountainous area of the county accounts for 25%, hills 69.7% and basins 5.3%. The main landforms are denudation structure hills and erosion structure mountains.

The elevation of Zhongqiu is 200-300 meters, the relative elevation is 100 meters, and the slope is 20-30 degrees. It covers an area of 528.5 square kilometers, accounting for 19.4% of the total area of the county. It is mainly distributed in junmenling, Zhoutian, zhantang, Youshui, Mazhou, wenwuba, Zhulan, Zhuangkou, Zhuangbu, Baie, Xiaomi, Xijiang and other towns.
The elevation of the high hill is 300-500m, the relative elevation is 100-200m, the slope is 30-40 ° and the distribution is northwest southeast. It covers an area of 1368.8 square kilometers, accounting for 50.3% of the total area of the county. It is mainly distributed in junmenling, Zhoutian, Zhongcun, zhantang, Yonglong, Fucheng, Youshui, Gaopai, Mazhou, wenwuba, Zhulan, Zhuangkou, Zhuangbu, Baie, Xiaomi, Xijiang and other towns on the East and west sides of Zhongqiu.
