Duchang County Duchang County, subordinate to Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the north of Jiangxi Province, bordering on Poyang Lake. It is located in the center of the "Golden Triangle" of Nanchang, Jiujiang and Jingdezhen. It connects Wushui in the south, Yangtze River in the north, and Hangzhou Ruizhou expressway, jiujingqu railway and dujiu Expressway meet. Covering an area of 2669.5 square kilometers, the county governs 24 townships and 259 administrative villages. By the end of 2019, the total population of Duchang County is 814800.
Duchang was established as a county in the sixth year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (201 BC). It is one of the 18 ancient civilization counties in Jiangxi Province. It has given birth to such historical celebrities as Da Sima taokan of Eastern Jin Dynasty, Liu Qi, a famous anti Jin general of Song Dynasty, and Jiang Wanli, a patriotic Prime Minister of Southern Song Dynasty. There are Duobaoshan, Laoyemiao water area, zhupaoshan, Ma'an island and other tourism resources.

History of construction
In the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221 BC), it was divided into thirty-six counties, including Zhifan county and Jiujiang county.
In the sixth year of Gaozu (201 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty, Xifan county was established as Xiaoyang County, which was governed by siwangshan (i.e. sishanjing of Zhouxi town) and belonged to Yuzhang County of Huainan state; in the sixth year of Yuanshuo (123 BC), it belonged to Jiujiang county.
In 210, the 15th year of Jian'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Sun Quan set up Poyang County in Yuzhang, and Xiaoyang county was subordinate to Poyang County.
In 289, Xiaoyang county was subordinate to Poyang County of Yangzhou; in 291, Xiaoyang county was subordinate to Poyang County of Jiangzhou; in 304, Yongan county was changed to Xunyang County of Jiangzhou.
In the second year of Yongchu of Song Dynasty (421), due to the subsidence of Pengli Lake Basin, the lake water invaded to the south, and most of Xiaoyang County fell into the lake. Xiaoyang county was abolished, and its territory entered Pengze County and was subordinate to Jiangzhou. In the first year of Qi Yongming (483), it was subordinate to Xunyang County of Jiangzhou. In the first year of Liang Tianjian (502), it was subordinate to Taiyuan County of Jiangzhou. In the first year of Chen Yongding (557), it was changed to Yuzhang County of Jiangzhou. In the first year of Tianjia, it was subordinate to Yuzhang County of Jiangzhou In 560, it was restored to Xunyang County of Jiangzhou.
In 583, chenzhijun county was abolished, Pengze County was renamed Longcheng County, which was subordinate to Jiangzhou; in 598, Longcheng was renamed Pengze; in 607, Daye county was abolished, which was subordinate to Jiujiang county.
In 622, Li Daliang, the pacifier of the Tang Dynasty, said that the land was spared, the well was well-off, and the land and water were obstacles. So he cut the southern border of YanZiQiao in Poyang Lake and set it up in Duchang County. In the 21st year of Kaiyuan (733), it was attached to Jiangzhou in the south of the Yangtze River; in the first year of Dali (766), it was attached to Raozhou in the south of the Yangtze River; in the year of Dali (766-779), it was moved to the east of penglihu, that is to say, it is now the ruling place.
In the Southern Tang Dynasty, Duchang County was subordinate to Raozhou of Jiankang army.

In the second year of Shunzhi (1645) of Qing Dynasty, Jiangxi Chengxuan minister was renamed Jiangxi Province, and Duchang County was subordinate to Nankang Prefecture of Jiujiang Road in Jiangxi Province; in the ninth year of Kangxi (1670), Duchang County was subordinate to Nankang Prefecture of Jiunan road in Raonan; in the ninth year of Yongzheng (1731), Duchang County was subordinate to Nankang Prefecture of Jiunan bingbei road in Guangrao.
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Duchang County was under the jurisdiction of Xunyang Road, Jiangxi Province; in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), Duchang County was under the jurisdiction of the province directly under the central government; in the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), Jiangxi Province was divided into 13 administrative regions, and Duchang County was under the jurisdiction of the third administrative region; in the 24th year of the Republic of China (1935), Jiangxi Province was divided into 8 administrative regions, and Duchang County was under the jurisdiction of the fifth administrative region.
On May 12, 1949, Duchang County was liberated and subordinate to Poyang special area of Jiangxi Province; in July 1949, Duchang County was changed into Jiujiang special area; in 1950, Duchang County was changed into Jiujiang special area of Jiangxi Province; in 1970, Jiujiang special area was changed into Jiujiang area, and Duchang County was still subordinate to Jiujiang area; in 1983, Duchang County was changed into Jiujiang City.
