Yueqing, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, is managed by Wenzhou City. The land area of the city is 1286.90 square kilometers, and the sea area is about 270 square kilometers. It is located in the hilly coastal plain of southern Zhejiang, adjacent to Yueqing Bay in the East, Taizhou in the south, Oujiang River and Wenzhou in the south. Its geographical coordinates are 28 ° 07 ′ N and 120 ° 57 ′ E.
Yueqing is one of the earliest and most dynamic regions in China with developed economy. Liushi area in the south is the famous capital of low-voltage electrical appliances in China and the birthplace of Wentai mode. Yandang Mountain in the north is one of the top ten famous mountains in China, known as "the first mountain in the Southeast". It is one of the first batch of 5A tourist attractions in China and has won the title of "World Geopark".
In June 2017, Yueqing City was named as a national health city and a demonstration county (District) of national intellectual property project. In 2019, it will be selected as one of the top 100 counties and cities in China in terms of comprehensive strength, new urbanization quality and business environment. In 2020, it will be selected as the direct contact point of county construction of national development and Reform Commission (one of 10 in China). In December 2020, the Academy of Social Sciences released the "top 100 comprehensive competitiveness of county economy in China", and Yueqing ranked 14th.
Evolution of organizational system
Ancient (to 1839)
In 374 A.D., Yongning County was divided into Yongjia County and Lecheng County, which belonged to Yongjia County. In the Southern Dynasties, song, Qi, Liang and Chen were responsible for it.
In 589 ad, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty abolished Yongjia County and established Chuzhou. In the 12th year of kaihuang reign, Chuzhou was changed to kuozhou, and Lecheng county was transferred to Yongjia County. In the third year of Daye reign of emperor Yang (607 AD), the state was changed into a county, and kuozhou was changed into Yongjia County. The successful land belonged to Yongjia County.
In the fifth year of Wude (622 AD), Yongjia County was established as Lecheng County, belonging to dongjiazhou. In the seventh year of Wude, Lecheng county was restored to Yongning County; in the second year of Shangyuan Dynasty (675 AD), Wenzhou was established, and the land of Lecheng belonged to Yongjia County. In the first year of Zaichu (689 AD), Lecheng county was restored to Yongjia County, which belongs to Wenzhou. In the first year of Tianbao (742 AD), Wenzhou was changed into Yongjia County, which belongs to Lecheng county. In the first year of Qianyuan Dynasty (758 AD), Yongjia County was changed to Wenzhou, and Lecheng County belonged to it.
In 908 A.D., in order to avoid the taboo of Zhu Cheng, the founder of Liang Dynasty, the county name was changed to Yueqing, belonging to Wenzhou. In the fourth year of Tianfu in the later Jin Dynasty (939 A.D.), Yueqing County belonged to Wenzhou Jinghai festival of Wuyue state.
In 978 A.D., Wenzhou was reduced to military state, and Yueqing county was subordinate to Wenzhou military state in Liangzhe road. In the seventh year of Zhenghe (1117 AD), Wenzhou was promoted to yingdao Junjie, which belonged to Yueqing county.
In the third year of Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1129 AD), Wenzhou was restored after the strike. Yueqing County belonged to Wenzhou, East Zhejiang Road. In the first year of Xianchun (1265 AD), Wenzhou was promoted to Ruian Prefecture, which belonged to Yueqing county.
In 1276 ad, Yueqing County entered the territory of the Yuan Dynasty, belonging to Wenzhou Road, Zhedong Road, Jianghuai province. In 1367, Yueqing county was attached to Zhu Wu.
In the first year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368 AD), the road was changed into a mansion. Yueqing county belongs to Wenzhou mansion, Zhejiang Province. In the ninth year of Hongwu's reign, he was transferred to Zhejiang Province as the chief minister. Yueqing county belongs to Wenzhou Prefecture of Zhejiang Province.
In 1646 ad, Yueqing County entered the territory of the Qing Dynasty and was subordinate to Wenzhou Government of Zhejiang Province.
Modern times (1840-1918)
To the third year of Xuantong (1911 AD), Yueqing county was still under the jurisdiction of Wen Chudao, the governor of Zhejiang Province. After the outbreak of the revolution of 1911, Wenzhou established a military and government branch, which belonged to Yueqing.
In July of the first year of the Republic of China (1912 AD), the military and government branches of Wenzhou were abolished, and Yueqing directly belonged to Zhejiang Province. In May 1914, Ouhai road was set up under the jurisdiction of wenchudao, and Yueqing county was under Ouhai road.
Modern (1919-1948)
In 1927, the Taoist system was abolished, and Yueqing county was directly under Zhejiang Province.
In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932 AD), the tenth county administrative supervision district of Zhejiang Province was set up in Wenzhou, which was subordinate to Yueqing.
In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933 AD), the tenth county administrative supervision district of Zhejiang Province was renamed the fourth special zone and the third special zone.
The 23rd year of the Republic of China (1934 AD) called the eighth administrative supervision area, Yueqing subordinate.
In the 37th year of the Republic of China (AD 1948), it was called the fifth administrative supervision area, and Yueqing was subordinate to it.
Contemporary (1949 to present)
In May 1949, Yueqing county was liberated and subordinate to the fifth special district of Zhejiang Province. In October, the Fifth District was renamed Wenzhou District, which belongs to Yueqing county. In 1968, Wenzhou special area was changed into Wenzhou area, which belongs to Yueqing county. In September 1981, Wenzhou City was merged into the prefecture and city, which was called Wenzhou City. The system of county under the jurisdiction of the city was implemented, and Yueqing county was under the jurisdiction of Wenzhou City.
On September 18, 1993, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of Civil Affairs reinstated the people's Government of Zhejiang Province and agreed to abolish Yueqing county and establish Yueqing City (county level), which is directly under the provincial government, with the former administrative region of Yueqing County as the administrative region of Yueqing city.
On October 7, 1993, Zhejiang Provincial People's government entrusted the administration of Yueqing City to Wenzhou Municipal People's government.

The rivers in Yueqing City originate from Yandang mountains except the North mouth of Oujiang River crossing the south. There are 1758 rivers and streams, which are divided into five water systems: Dajing, Qingjiang, Hongqiao, Lecheng and Liushi, with a total length of 1034 km, a water surface area of 1.97 million square meters and a water storage capacity of 40.69 million cubic meters.

The recharge source of groundwater in Yueqing City is rainwater, which is calculated by precipitation infiltration method, and the total amount is 128 million cubic meters per year. The aquifer in Qingjiang area is 25 meters thick; there are three aquifers buried in Hongqiao plain: the first layer is slightly salty, and the second and third layers contain fresh water; the south gate and piedmont areas of Lecheng plain are fresh water aquifers, which are rich in water, and the number of aquifers in nancaolong area is increased, which cannot be drunk; there are two fresh water aquifers in Liushi plain. The hot spring is located in huangtang village, Danxi Town, with abundant water, clean water and sweet taste. It is especially suitable for freshwater aquaculture and has great development value. Xishiliang cave in Yanhu Shanglong village of Furong Town and DALONGSHAN, nengshan and shantangshan in Donglian shuikeng village of Hongqiao Town are natural mineral water with metasilicic acid, with an average daily flow of about 15 cubic meters.

Yueqing Bay is located in the east of the city, between 27 ° 5 ′~ 28 ° 23 ′ N and 120 ° 57 ′~ 121 ° 16 ′ e, bounded by Yuhuan city and Wenling City in the East and northeast, Wenzhou Bay in the South and Yueqing City in the West and northwest. Yueqing Bay is narrow in North and south, wide in mouth and narrow in Inner. It is shaped like a reed. It is about 47 km long in North and south, 4.5-14 km wide in East and West, and 37 km deep into the inland. It covers a total area of 463.6 square kilometers and belongs to three counties (cities) of Yueqing, Yuhuan and Wenling, of which Yueqing accounts for 249 square kilometers. Yueqing Bay is a shallow bay with a depth of about 10 meters and a maximum depth of 41 meters. The sediment in the bay is mud, and the mouth is a mixed sediment bottom. There is a sand belt (crossing the island) covering an area of about 7 square kilometers. There are 14 islands and 9 reefs in the bay. In 1975, Yueqing Bay became a semi closed Bay after Xuanmen harbor in Yuhuan was blocked. According to the measurement in June 1979, the surface water temperature near maolongshan Island (belonging to Yuhuan city) in the middle of Yueqing Bay was 26.13 ℃, and the surface water temperature outside the southern salt basin and Haiyu island was 24.79 ℃. Seawater salinity is low in summer and high in autumn, with an annual average of 26.04 ‰.
