Wuning County, subordinate to Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the northwest of Jiangxi Province, in the middle reaches of Xiuhe river. It is located in the border of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces. It borders Ruichang City, De'an County and Yongxiu County in the East, Jing'an County in the south, Xiushui County in the West and Tongshan County in Hubei Province in the north. History of construction
Wuning was the territory of AI Hou in Shang Dynasty. The spring and Autumn period and Warring States period belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu successively.
In the 23rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (224 BC), Qin destroyed Chu and AI belonged to Qin.
In the third year of emperor Jingdi of Han Dynasty (154 BC), AI was set up in haihun County, and Wuning was Haihun county.
In the fourth year of Jian'an (199) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xi'an county was set up by haihun. The county government was set up in Xi'an Li, Shidu township of Wuning, from which Wuning county was built.
In the first year of Taikang (280), Xi'an county was changed into Yuning county.
In the third year of Chen Yongding (559), Yuning county was established.
In the ninth year of kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (589), Yuning county was withdrawn and incorporated into Jianchang County.
In the fourth year of Chang'an of Tang Dynasty (1704), Jianchang established Wuning County; in the first year of Jingyun (710), Wuning county was changed to Yuning County, and the county government moved to Ganluo village, which is now Xinhua Village in Shidu township of Wuning, commonly known as Xinxian County; in the fourth year of Tianbao (745), the county government moved to yuzhenshan, commonly known as the old county; in the first year of Baoqing (762), the government avoided the taboo of Daizong, and Yuning still changed to Wuning.
In the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD), the counties in Jiangxi Province were under the jurisdiction of Jiangnan East Road and Jiangnan West Road respectively, and the establishment of counties was basically stable. Wuning belongs to Hongzhou, which is under the jurisdiction of Jiangnan West Road.
In the 23rd year of the Yuan Dynasty (1286), it set up ningzhou in Wuning and governed Wuning and Fenning counties; in the 5th year of Dade (1301), Fenning was named ningzhou and Wuning was directly under Longxing road.
In Ming and Qing Dynasties, Wuning belonged to Nanchang Prefecture.

Mufu mountain in the north is located at the edge of the province and becomes the boundary mountain between provinces. Jiuling mountain in the south is located at the edge of the county, which is also the boundary mountain and watershed between counties. The two mountains are close to the east-west direction, forming the North-South barrier of the county. Xiuhe, one of the five major rivers in Jiangxi Province, originates from Mufu mountain range, enters Wuning from Xiushui in the west, runs through the two mountains, and enters Yongxiu County in the east along the axis of Wuning syncline. Xiuhe and its tributaries form a nearly pinnate water system in this county.
