FUDING Fuding City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Ningde City, Fujian Province. It is located in the northeast of Fujian Province, adjacent to the East China Sea in the southeast, Cangnan County in Zhejiang Province in the northeast, Taishun County in Zhejiang Province in the northwest, Zherong County in the West and Xiapu County in the south. The land area is 1526.31 square kilometers, the sea area is 14959.7 square kilometers, and the coastline is 432.7 kilometers long. In ancient times, it belonged to Fuding County, Funing Prefecture, and got its name because of the Fuding peak of Taimu mountain. As of 2016, Fuding has jurisdiction over 16 townships, sub district offices, 1 Development Zone and 281 Village (neighborhood) committees. It covers an area of 1461.7 square kilometers. There are 81 islands in Fuding sea area, and Taishan fishing ground is the main fishing area. It belongs to the mid subtropical monsoon climate zone with significant marine climate characteristics. Qinyu and Dianxia towns along the coast are the main grain producing areas of Fuding, and ten thousand mu high-yield demonstration plots of rice have been established. Large areas of hilly land in mountainous areas can be used for afforestation, tea planting, fruit planting and other economic crops development. In 2017, Fuding was rated as "2016 China tea industry development demonstration county". On December 13, 2018, it was selected into the list of agricultural products advantage areas with Chinese characteristics. In March 2019, it was listed as the first batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area sub County list.
In 2019, Fuding's GDP will reach 41.804 billion yuan, an increase of 1.2% over the previous year.

The origin of the name
"Funing Fu Zhi" says: "Fuding mountain, in the 20th capital, has its pulse from Pingyang to Chiyang, with the highest peak and tens of miles in sight. The county is named after it."

In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Minyue state at the beginning and Hanye County after the state was destroyed.
In the later Han Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of marquis.
During the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to Wu Jian'an county and Jin to Wenma county.
In the Tang Dynasty, it was a newly established Changxi County in the sixth year of Wude.
In the Yuan Dynasty, in the 23rd year of the Yuan Dynasty, Changxi county was promoted to Funing Prefecture, and Fuding was the land of Funing Prefecture.
Ming Dynasty, Hongwu two years (1369), because Funing Prefecture renamed Funing County, the county still belongs to it. In the ninth year of Chenghua, the county was renamed Funing Prefecture.
In the Qing Dynasty, Funing Prefecture was promoted to Funing Prefecture in the 12th year of Yongzheng, and Xiapu County was set up as the jurisdiction of Xiapu County. In the fourth year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, Xiapu County designated Wanghai, Yuren, Yaoxiang and lianjiang as the four Li districts of Quanru Township, and Fuding county was still the Funing Prefecture.

In July 1970, the administrative office of Fu'an special district was relocated to Ningde and renamed Ningde regional administrative office, while Fuding's membership remained unchanged.
On October 13, 1995, with the approval of the State Council of the people's Republic of China, the Ministry of civil affairs of the people's Republic of China approved Fuding to withdraw its County into a city.
On December 27, 1995, Fuding City was officially granted the license and seal, with jurisdiction over 12 towns, 2 townships and 268 Village (neighborhood) committees.

In the fourth year of Qianlong (1739) of the Qing Dynasty, Fuding county was set up in the four li of Wanghai, Yuren, Yaoxiang and lianjiang. When the county was established, there were six streets, 27 communities, one community and 20 capitals in Fuding county.
In June 1949, Fuding county was divided into four districts and one town in the early days of Liberation: Qianqi in the first district governed Qianqi Town, Shacheng Township, Qiaoting Township and Jiayang township; Qinyu in the second district governed Qinyu Town, Dianxia Township, Xuncheng Township and Xiamen township; nodou in the third district governed nodou Town, Bailin Town, Jixi Township, Guanyang Township and Jiangyang township; Nanxi in the fourth district (first in Nanxi, then in Nanxi) The former Nanxi Township, Xiyang Township and Guanling township are under the jurisdiction of Kukou County; the former Tongshan Township, Yutang Township, Dashan Township and Xiuling township are under the jurisdiction of Tongshan County. Four districts and one town have jurisdiction over 20 townships (towns). On October 7 of the same year, Yushan island was liberated. In November, the county was divided into five districts: Tongshan town was changed into the first district, Qianqi District into the Second District, Qinyu District into the third district, nodding District into the Fourth District, and Kukou District into the Fifth District, with a total of 23 townships (towns) and 183 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.
In June 1950, on the basis of the original five districts, it was reorganized to add three district offices, namely, the Fifth District Guanyang, the Sixth District Dianxia and the seventh district Bailin; the former Fifth District Kukou was changed to the eighth district; and three towns, Tongshan, Qinyu and nodou, were set up. The county has 8 districts, 98 townships (streets) and 194 administrative villages.
In May 1952, Shacheng District 3, Jixi District 6 and Dashan District 10 were added; Qinyu District 3 was changed to District 5, nodou District 4 to District 8, Guanyang District 5 to District 9, Xiyang District 6 to District 4, and Kukou District 8 to District 11 to Guanling. The county has 11 districts, 127 townships, 3 towns and 4 streets.
In October 1954, 23 townships (towns) were added.
In January 1955, Yushan island was under the jurisdiction of Xiapu County. On February 27, Taishan island was liberated and under the jurisdiction of Shacheng, the third district. In September, the county was reorganized into 10 districts: the first district Tongshan was changed into the first district Zhenxi, the ninth district Xiyang was changed into the ninth district Guanyang, the eleventh District Guanling was changed into the Tenth District Guanling, the Tenth District Dashan was removed, and Qinyu town was upgraded to the county. The county has a total of 145 townships (towns).
In January 1956, each district was named after its resident. In April, the organization was reduced, and the two districts of Fuxi and Guanling were changed into eight districts. Only Tongshan town was under the jurisdiction of the county, and four towns of Qianqi, Qinyu, Bailin and nodou were under the jurisdiction of the county. The county has a total of 88 townships (towns).
In August 1958, the district and township were withdrawn. Tongshan, Nanxi, Kukou, Guanling, Qianqi, Jiayang, Qiaoting, Shacheng, Dianxia, Xuncheng, Qinyu, Xiamen, Zhuxia, Bailin, Jixi, sangyuan, Chixi, nodding, Bailiu, Guanyang, Xiyang, Tangyang, a total of 22 people's communes were established in the county, with 156 administrative areas, 480 production teams and 1087 production teams under its jurisdiction.
In April 1959, there were 22 "small communes" and 10 "large communes" in Tongshan, nodou, Guanyang, Bailin, Jixi, Qianqi, Shacheng, Dianxia, Qinyu and Xiamen.
In June 1961, ten large communes were changed into ten district offices, under the jurisdiction of 83 people's communes. Chengguan town is under the jurisdiction of the county. Qianqi, Bailin, nodding and Qinyu are under the jurisdiction of the district.
In October 1962, Yushan island was transferred from Xiapu County to Fuding County under the jurisdiction of Qinyu District, and the Management Committee of Yushan people's commune was established. In that year, there were 475 production teams and 5059 production teams in the county.
In April 1963, Shacheng town and Bailin town were abolished; Chengguan brigade, Liumei brigade and Xiangyang (Huiyao) brigade were set up from Tongshan District, and Tongshan town was under the jurisdiction of the county; nodding Town, Qianqi town and Qinyu town were under the jurisdiction of the district. There are 10 districts and 1 town under the jurisdiction of the county, 83 townships (communes) and 3 towns under the jurisdiction of the county.
In June 1968, the original 10 districts were changed into people's communes, and two new people's communes, Nanxi and Yushan, were established. There are 12 people's communes and Chengguan towns in the county, with 84 administrative districts, 296 brigades and streets under its jurisdiction.
In July 1970, zhayang commune was under the jurisdiction of Fuding County due to the withdrawal of Zherong County; in that year, there were 14 communes and 216 brigades in the county.
In March 1975, Zherong county was restored and zhoyang commune was under the jurisdiction of Zherong county.
In August 1981, four streets and three brigades were set aside from Chengguan commune to restore the county jurisdiction over Tongshan Town, and Chengguan commune was renamed Tongcheng commune.
From August 1982 to November 1983, the county carried out system reform and implemented District, township and village system. Except for Tongshan Town, the original 13 communes of Qinyu, Qianqi, nodding, Guanyang, Tongcheng, Guanling, Shacheng, Dianxia, Xiamen, Yushan, XuXi, Bailin and Dieshi were renamed District, and Qianqi, Qinyu, Shacheng, Bailin and nodding were renamed district towns.
In July 1987, the district was changed into Township and the township into village. Longping brigade was assigned to Tongshan town. Tongshan town has four residents' committees and four villagers' committees.
In June 1992, the Department of civil affairs of Fujian Province approved the removal of Guanling township to build a town, and Xiamen township was renamed Xiamen she township.
In November 1992, the Civil Affairs Department of Fujian Province approved the removal of villages and the establishment of towns in Fuxi, Guanyang and Yushan.
In March 1993, the Department of civil affairs of Fujian Province approved Tongcheng to withdraw its Township and build a town.
In October 1995, with the approval of the State Council of the people's Republic of China, Fuding county was abolished and Fuding City was established;
