Xianyou County Xianyou County (ancient Xinghua Prefecture Xianyou County), under the jurisdiction of Putian City, Fujian Province. It is located in the middle of southeast coast of Fujian, the junction of South and North Bank of Meizhou Bay, the middle and upper reaches of Mulan River, between east longitude 118 ° 27 '- 118 ° 56', north latitude 25 ° 11 '- 25 ° 43'. The county borders Putian City in the East, Yongchun and Dehua in the west, Quangang District, Hui'an County and Nan'an City of Quanzhou City in the south, Yongtai in the north, Meizhou Bay in the southeast, Xiuyu port and Xiaocuo port. The county is 49 km wide from east to west, 63.4 km long from north to south, and 5 km long coastline (Fengting town is the only coastal town in the county). The total area of the county is 1835 square kilometers (2.722 million mu), including 426000 mu of cultivated land, 2.037 million mu of mountain land and 1.777 million mu of forest land. From the county seat to Fuzhou, the traffic mileage is 152 km, to Putian City 42 km, to Quanzhou 85 km, to Xiamen 192 km. By the end of 2018, Xianyou had a permanent population of 863 thousand and registered residence of 1 million 171 thousand and 700 people.
The whole terrain of Xianyou County is along Mulan River, high in the northwest and low in the southeast, forming a "horseshoe shape", with distinct levels of coastal, plain and mountainous areas. Dongxixiang plain is the hometown of fish, rice and sugar. Xingtaili in the northeast corner and xianyoushan in the northwest corner are famous rare forest areas. "Seven mountains, one water and two fields" are distributed throughout the territory.
In 2017, Xianyou County was listed as a National Garden County. On January 9, 2019, Puxian opera was selected into the list of "hometown of Chinese folk culture and art" from 2018 to 2020. Historical evolution

In the second year of Tang Shengli (699), the western part of Putian County was analyzed. Yutan (now gaiweixiantan) was the boundary of Qingyuan County, belonging to wurongzhou (now nananfeng). In the second year of Jingyun (711), wurongzhou was changed to Quanzhou, and Qingyuan County belonged to Quanzhou.
In the first year of Tianbao (742), Quanzhou was renamed Qingyuan County. Because of the same name of the county, Qingyuan County was renamed Xianyou County, which belongs to Qingyuan County.
In the second year of Qiande of Song Dynasty (964), Qingyuan County was renamed pinghaijun, and Xianyou County belonged to pinghaijun. In April of the third year of the Taiping rejuvenation of the state (978), Chen Hongjin (now from Fengting town), a governor of Pinghai Festival, formally incorporated Zhangquan and its 14 counties (including Xianyou County) into the territory of the Song Dynasty. In the fourth year of Xingguo (979), Xinghua County was set up in the mountainous areas of Youyang town in Xianyou County (today's Youyang, shicang and Xiangxi areas in Xianyou County), Baizhang town in Putian County, chenshantou in Yongfu county (today's Yongtai County) and toubaizhangling and xialuling in Futang county (today's Fuqing City). At the same time, the Taiping Army (later renamed Xinghua Army) was set up to lead Putian, Xianyou and Xinghua counties, and the military administration was also set up in Youyang. In 980, the Taiping army was changed into the Xinghua army, and Xianyou belonged to the Xinghua army. In 983, the military administration of Xinghua moved from Youyang to Putian. In the second year of Jingyan (1277), Xinghua army was changed into Xing'an Prefecture, and Xianyou County belonged to Xing'an Prefecture.
In October 1278, the 15th year of the Yuan Dynasty, Xing'an Prefecture was changed to Xinghua Road, and Xianyou County belonged to Xinghua Road. In the second year of Huangqing (1313), Xinghua County government moved from Youyang to Xiangxi village, Guangye village, Putian County.
In 1369, Xinghua Road was changed into Xinghua Prefecture, and Xianyou County belonged to Xinghua Prefecture.
The Qing Dynasty still followed the Ming system, and Xianyou County belonged to Xinghua Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the government of the Republic of China announced the abolition of prefectures and prefectures. The whole province is divided into East Road, West Road, South Road and North Road, and Xianyou County is divided into South Road. In the third year of the Republic of China, Nanlu road was renamed Xiamen Road, and Xianyou County was subordinate to Xiamen road.
In the 16th year of the Republic of China, Xianyou County was directly under Fujian Province.
On November 20 of the 22nd year of the Republic of China, "Fujian change" took place, and the people's revolutionary government of the Republic of China (historically known as "Fujian people's government") was established. On December 11, the first Central Committee of the people's government decided to divide Fujian into four provinces, namely minhai, minshang, Quanhai and Longzhang, and two special cities, Fuzhou and Xiamen. On the 13th of the same month, the 12th CPC Central Committee changed the names of the four provinces to minhai, Yanjian, Xingquan and Longting. Xianyou belongs to Xingquan province.
In January of the 23rd year of the Republic of China, the "Fujian change" failed and belonged to Fujian Province.
In July of the Republic of China, the administrative inspector system was implemented below the provincial level, and the office of the administrative inspector was set up as an auxiliary organ of the provincial government. Fujian Province is divided into 10 administrative supervision districts, Xianyou County is the fourth administrative supervision district (the special office is located in today's Xianyou Licheng).
In October of the 24th year of the Republic of China, the provincial supervision districts were reduced to seven. Xianyou County is still the fourth administrative supervision district (the special office is located in Tong'an county).
In August of the 29th year of the Republic of China, Fengding special zone was set up at the border of Dehua, Yongchun, Xianyou and Yongtai counties. In October of the same year, it was abolished and put under the jurisdiction of reductive county.
From the 35th to 38th years of the Republic of China, Xianyou County was still the fourth inspection district (special office in Jinjiang).
On August 25, 1949, Xianyou County was liberated and subordinate to the fifth Office of the Fujian provincial administrative inspector general (the special office is located in Quanzhou).
On April 1, 1950, the fifth special office was renamed Quanzhou Office of administrative inspector general of Fujian Province. On September 16, it was changed to Jinjiang Office of Fujian Provincial People's government, under the jurisdiction of Xianyou County.
On March 17, 1955, the office of Jinjiang Commissioner of Fujian Provincial People's government was renamed the office of Jinjiang Commissioner of Fujian Province, and Xianyou County was still under its jurisdiction.
On June 30, 1967, the military control committee of Jinjiang special region was established to replace the special office in exercising leadership over the whole region.
On September 23, 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Jinjiang special region of Fujian Province was established, with Xianyou as its county.
In July 1970, the provincial Revolutionary Committee decided to move the Revolutionary Committee of Minhou special region to Putian County. Putian and Xianyou counties in Jinjiang District were set up together with Fuqing, Yongtai, Minhou, Minqing, Changle and Pingtan counties in Minhou district. Xianyou County is under its jurisdiction.
In July 1971, the Revolutionary Committee of Minhou special region was changed to the Revolutionary Committee of Putian region, under the jurisdiction of Xianyou County.
In January 1979, Putian regional Revolutionary Committee was renamed Putian regional administrative office, and Xianyou County was subordinate to it.
In May 1983, the Putian administrative office was abolished, and the original five counties in Putian, including Fuqing, Yongtai, Minqing, Changle and Pingtan, were under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City. On September 9 of the same year, Putian and Xianyou counties and Chengxiang and Hanjiang districts were designated, and Putian Municipal People's Government (located in Licheng, Putian) was established.

In February 1950, the nine districts moved to Maixie, and the Tenth District was added.

In August 1952, the 13th district (Shima), the 14th District (shicang) and the 15th district (Xiyuan) were added. There are 15 districts in the county, which have jurisdiction over 740 townships (streets).
In June 1953, the first District Office (Chengguan District) established the District People's government. Fengting street, renamed Fengting Town, belongs to the third district office.
In September 1955, the first, fourth and eleventh districts were abolished, and the county was divided into 12 districts of one town (Chengguan town), with 236 townships (streets) under its jurisdiction.
From June 1956 to the spring of 1958, it was reorganized into seven districts and Chengguan Town, including Chengguan, Fengting, Jiaowei, Bangtou, Duwei, shehui, Maixie, and 89 townships (streets).
In April 1958, the county was divided into 25 townships (towns) and 91 small townships (towns).
Since September 1958, townships (towns) have been abolished, people's communes have been established, and the integration of government and society has been carried out. Small townships have been transformed into production brigades. The county has established 13 people's communes, 240 production teams, Xikou forest farm, comprehensive farm, Guyang farm and Zhongshan farm in Xianyou County, which are state farms directly under the county.
In December 1961, the original 13 people's communes were reorganized into 18 people's commune management committees, with 318 production teams and 4197 production teams under their jurisdiction.
In June 1964, six streets were set up from Chengguan people's Commune and Chengguan town was established. The whole county was divided into 18 people's communes and one town, with 318 production teams (streets) and 4801 production teams (residents).
