Binhu District Wuxi Binhu District was established in early 2001. It is located in the southwest of Wuxi City. It is built according to Taihu Lake. It is composed of most of the suburbs of Wuxi City, Mashan District as a whole and some towns in the south of Xishan City. Now it covers an area of 572 square kilometers, including 206 square kilometers of land area. It has 90% of Taihu lake shoreline in Wuxi, collects 90% of Wuxi's tourism resources and gathers 90% of Wuxi's provinces Ministry level scientific research institutes.

Binhu District is located at 120 ° 17 ˊ E and 31 ° 33 ˊ n, in the hinterland of Yangtze River Delta, Southeast of Jiangsu Province and southwest of Wuxi City. Geology and geomorphology
The landform of the lakeside area belongs to Taihu Lake Plain, with low mountains and residual hills surrounded by lakes. The mountains are composed of Devonian quartz sandstone and siltstone. The soil is mainly yellow brown soil and yellow red soil, with heavy clay and coarse grains. Due to the long-term denudation, the top of the mountain is mostly pointed and steamed bread like. Generally, the slope along the lake bank is steep, with an angle of 20 ~ 35 degrees. Due to the long-term erosion of lake water, the harbor and wave cliff are relatively developed. In the East is the alluvial plain of Taihu Lake with low and flat terrain, which is composed of clay, silty clay, silty fine sand and medium coarse sand. The strata belong to the Jiangnan stratigraphic division of the Yangtze stratigraphic area. Mountains, plains and dikes crisscross, with Sanmao peak in Huishan (328 meters above sea level) as the highest point, and most of the hills are between 100 and 320 meters high. The elevation of plain area is 3.5 ~ 6.2m (Wusong elevation, the same below), and the elevation of polder area is about 1.0 ~ 3.5m.

The lakeside area is a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River. In addition to Taihu Lake, there are 534 large and small rivers in the lakeside area, with a total length of 425 km. There are Wuli Lake, Meiliang lake and Gonghu Lake in the territory, and the lakeside area is 112.6 km along the lakeside of Taihu Lake. The flood season is from May to September every year. The annual average water level is 3.06M, the historical highest water level is 4.88m (July 2, 1991), and the historical lowest water level is 1.92m (August 26, 1934). The annual average maximum water level is 3.90M and the annual average minimum water level is 2.69M. The warning water level is 3.59M.
