Shexian County, subordinate to Huangshan City, Anhui Province, is located in the south of Anhui Province. In the north, it borders Jixi County of Xuancheng City and Lin'an District of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Shexian county was established in the Qin Dynasty and Huizhou Prefecture in the Song Dynasty. It was the political, economic and cultural center of ancient Huizhou in 1400 years. In 1357, it was renamed Xing'an Prefecture; in 1367, it was renamed Huizhou Prefecture until the end of Qing Dynasty. The membership of the county has not changed.
In the early years of Hongwu (1368) of Ming Dynasty, yingtianfu was established as the capital. Shexian county was assigned to Zhili. In the early years of Yongle (1403), Beijing was moved as the capital. Zhili was renamed nanzhili for short.
In the second year of Shunzhi (1645) of the Qing Dynasty, the Jiangnan minister was set up, and the Jiangnan province was established, which belonged to Shexian county.
