Lu'an, a prefecture level city in Anhui Province. Located in the west of Anhui Province, also known as "Gaocheng", it is located between the Yangtze River and the Huaihe River, at the north foot of the Dabie Mountains, and at the West Wing of the Yangtze River Delta economic zone. In the geographical sense, "West Anhui" refers to Lu'an in particular. Lu'an is located in the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers, with Wuyue in the East, Jingchu in the West and Central Plains in the north. It is high in the southwest and low in the northeast, with trapezoidal distribution. It belongs to the transition zone from the north subtropical zone to the warm temperate zone, with distinct monsoon and four distinct seasons. The city covers a total area of 15451 square kilometers, with a permanent population of 4.873 million in 2019. It has jurisdiction over three municipal districts, namely Jin'an District, Yu'an district and Yeji District, and four counties, namely Huoqiu County, Jinzhai County, Huoshan County and Shucheng county.
The name of Lu'an originated from Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty. It takes the first words of six counties, Anfeng and Anfeng in Hengshan as the name of Lu'an. It also means "six places are safe and never rebel". Lu'an was named Gaocheng in later generations because Shun granted gaotao to Liu. Lu'an is a member city of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, close to the Huaihe River, connecting the East and the West. Lu'an City has three national highways (312, 206 and 105), four Railways (Ningxi, Hejiu, Fuliu and huhanrong express railway channels), and five expressways (Hushan, Hurong, Jiguang, Hefu and he'an) passing through the whole city. It is only half an hour's drive from the new Hefei Xinqiao International Airport, and has been established as a land transportation hub city by the Ministry of communications of the people's Republic of China. In February 2018, Lu'an City was identified by the central office of civilization as the nominated city of the national civilized city in the period of 2018-2020.
In 2020, according to preliminary accounting, Lu'an's GDP will reach 166.95 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 23.87 billion yuan, an increase of 2.0%, the added value of the secondary industry was 60.66 billion yuan, an increase of 6.3%, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 82.42 billion yuan, an increase of 2.8%.

Lu'an area has a long history of construction. The Xia Dynasty belongs to the fiefdoms of gaotao descendants - Ying (today's Jinzhai, huoqiujing) and Liu (today's Lu'an City North), so Lu'an City is also called Gaocheng.
From the Western Zhou Dynasty to the spring and Autumn period, there were many feudal states, including Ying, Liu, ShuLiao, shujiu, Shuyong and so on. During the Warring States period, the vassals merged and successively belonged to Wu and Chu. In the 22nd year of King kaolie of Chu (241 BC), Shouchun, the capital of Chu (now Shouchun county), was called Ying and later died in Qin Dynasty.
Qin unified China and implemented the system of prefectures and counties. Today, most of the southeast of Lu'an, Huoshan and Shucheng belong to Hengshan County and Qianxian County, while the rest belong to Jiujiang county and six counties, Shouchun, Anfeng and Shouchun.
In the battle between Chu and Han, Xiang Yu (206 BC) granted yingbu (qingbu), a native of LiuDi, the king of Jiujiang, and Liudu (L ù) (now the ancient city of Beixi in Lu'an City). In the third year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (204 BC), yingbu rebelled against Chu and threw himself into Han Dynasty. In the Western Han Dynasty, the system of Xingjun state was initially established in Hengshan state and Huainan state. The capital of Huainan is still six. In 196 B.C., Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty Liu Bang made Liu Chang, the youngest son of emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty, king of Huainan and moved to Shouchun. The territory under the jurisdiction of today's region first belonged to the state of Jiujiang and then to the state of Huainan. In the 16th year of Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty (164 BC), Liu An, Liu Bo and Liu CI were the kings of Huainan, Hengshan and Lujiang. Today, Shouxian county and North Lu'an belong to Huainan state, Jinzhai, Lu'an, Huoshan and Huoqiu belong to Hengshan state, and Shucheng county belongs to Lujiang state. In the second year of Yuanshou (121 BC), Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, Wang An of Huainan and Wang Ci of Hengshan committed suicide. In the second year of Yuanshou, Emperor Wu took the first words of six counties, Anfeng and Anfeng in Hengshan and changed Hengshan into Lu'an, which means "six places are safe and never rebel". The name of Lu'an has been used since then. After that, the Ying Kingdom crisscrossed, and the overlapping meridians prospered and abolished. In the fifth year of Emperor Wu's Yuanfeng (106 BC), there were 13 prefectures in the whole country. Lu'an Prefecture was under Yangzhou prefectures. Now Lu'an City, Lu'an, Huoqiu and Jinzhai belong to the state of Liu'an. They are divided into six counties, Liao County, Anfeng, Yangquan and so on. The capital of the country is six counties (now the north of Lu'an City). Huoshan and Shucheng belong to Lujiang County. They are divided into two counties, Qian county and Longshu county The southern part of an county belongs to Jiujiang County, where Shouchun County, Bo Township and Chengde County are located.
The Eastern Han Dynasty was divided into Jiujiang county and Lujiang County. Jiujiang county has Shouchun county and Chengde County, Lujiang County has Lu'an County, Qian County, Anfeng County, Yangquan County, Anfeng County, Yunlou county and Longshu County, all under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou governor's department.
During the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to weihuainan County, Lujiang County and Anfeng county. Huainan county is located in Shouchun and Chengde counties, which govern Hefei; Lujiang County is located in Lu'an, bo'an and Yangquan counties, which govern Lu'an; Anfeng county is located in Anfeng, Liao, Anfeng and Yunlou counties, which govern public security (near the Huoqiu estuary).
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Shouxian county and the northern part of Lu'an County belong to Huainan County, where Shouchun and Chengde counties are set up. Shouchun county is governed by Shouchun County, and the state is governed by Shouchun county (the first year of Taikang of Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty, 280), and then Jianye County (the third year of Taikang of Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty). In the northern and Southern Dynasties, Lu'an was first under the jurisdiction of the Southern Song Dynasty. In the eighth year of the Song Dynasty (464), it was under the jurisdiction of Southern Yuzhou, which was governed by Dangtu. In 497, Shouxian, Huoqiu, Jinzhai and the northern part of Lu'an County belonged to Yuzhou, and Kaihua, Mengxian, yongqiu, Anfeng, Beiqiao, Xiaohuang and Songzi were the seven counties. Shucheng, Huoshan, Lu'an City and the southern part of Lu'an County belonged to Yuzhou, and Qianxian, Shuxian and zhouzhidangtu were the seven counties. Shouzhou is located in Shouchun, Huoqiu, Shengtang, Anfeng and other counties.
The Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms belonged to Wu state first, then to the Southern Tang Dynasty, and then to the Later Zhou Dynasty.
The Northern Song Dynasty belonged to Shouzhou and Luzhou respectively. Shouzhou leads Shouchun, Anfeng, Lu'an, Huoqiu and other counties, and it governs CAI (now Fengtai County). Luzhou leads Shucheng county and governs Hefei (today's Hefei City). The first year of Chonghe (1118) promoted Lu'an county to Lu'an army, directly under Huaixi road.
In the Southern Song Dynasty, in 1142 of Shaoxing, Lu'an army was demoted as a county, and Anfeng county was promoted as Anfeng army, leading the former Shouzhou state and governing Shouchun. Shucheng county belongs to Luzhou. Lu'an county was abolished in the first year of Duanping (1234); Lu'an county was restored and Lu'an army was established in the fifth year of JINGDING (1264), directly under Huaixi road.
In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Anfeng road and Luzhou road in Henan Province. Anfeng Road, leading Shouchun, Anfeng, Huoqiu three counties, Shouchun governance. Luzhou road leads liuanzhou, Lu'an, Huoshan and Shucheng counties, and is located in Hefei.
In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Fengyang Prefecture and Luzhou Prefecture respectively. Fengyang Prefecture, lead Shouzhou and Huoqiu County. Lu'an prefecture (Lu'an County into Lu'an prefecture) and Huoshan and Shucheng counties were led by Luzhou Prefecture.
In the Qing Dynasty, Anhui Province was set up in the sixth year of Kangxi (1667), belonging to Fengyang Prefecture, Yingzhou Prefecture and Luzhou Prefecture. Shouzhou belongs to Fengyang Prefecture, Huoqiu County to Yingzhou Prefecture, Lu'an Prefecture, Huoshan County and Shucheng county to Luzhou Prefecture. After the founding of the Republic of China, Shouzhou was changed into Shouxian county and Lu'an into Lu'an county. Together with Huoqiu, Shucheng and Huoshan counties, they all belong to the province. From 1914 to 1928, Shucheng, Lu'an and Huoshan belonged to Anqing Road, while Shouxian and Huoqiu belonged to huaisi road. Then, cancel the setting of the trace. In 1932, Shouxian and Huoqiu belonged to the fourth administrative supervision district of Anhui Province, while Lu'an, Shucheng and Huoshan belonged to the third. In July 1938, Shouxian and Huoqiu were divided into the third administrative supervision district from the fourth administrative supervision district. Today, the whole city is under the jurisdiction of the third administrative supervision district. During the war of liberation, in October 1947, the administrative office of West Anhui was set up to establish the West Anhui base. Today, the areas under the jurisdiction of the region belong to the second and third special regions. In September of the same year, Dushan county was established in the southwest of Lu'an County, and Huang County was changed into Jinzhai County. In October, Huogu county was established with Huhu as the center.
