Fuyang Fuyang, a prefecture level city in Anhui Province, is called Fuyang for short. It was called Ruyin, Shunchang and Yingzhou in ancient times. It is located in the Yangtze River Delta. Fuyang county was named by Emperor Qianlong. For the first time, Yingzhou and Bozhou merged into a unified territory, "Qiao County of the province entered Bozhou, seeking to demote Bozhou to Boxian, and then changed to Yingzhou.". It includes not only Fuyang City and Bozhou City, but also most of Huoqiu County in Lu'an area.
In the early years of the Republic of China, Yingzhou Prefecture was abolished. In March 1949, Fuyang City was withdrawn and merged into Fuyang county.

In 1971, Fuyang district was changed to Fuyang district.
On December 19, 1975, the State Council approved the establishment of Fuyang City (county level), with Fuyang town and some parts of Fuyang County as its administrative region, which is under the jurisdiction of Fuyang region and located in Fuyang City.
In January 1977, Fengtai County was under the jurisdiction of Huainan City.

In January 1996, Fuyang Prefecture and county level Fuyang City were abolished and prefecture level Fuyang City was established.
In February 1998, Bozhou City was separated from Fuyang City and was directly under the central government of Anhui Province.
