Hexian County, formerly known as Liyang, is a county under the jurisdiction of Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province. It is located in the east of Anhui Province and on the North Bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with a total area of 1319 square kilometers. It is closely connected with Yuxikou in Wuhu City in the southeast, yuxihe River in Wuwei City in the south, Hanshan County in the west, Quanjiao County across Chuhe River in the northwest, and Nanjing City in the northeast. It is close to the Yangtze River and Nanjing, Ma'anshan and Wuhu. It has a total area of 1319 square kilometers and a permanent population of 488000 in 2019.
In ancient times, He county was called Liyang, which was named after "Lishui in the south of the county". In the 26th year of Shihuang (221 BC), Liyang county was established. In the sixth year of Tianbao (555), the southern Liang Dynasty and the Northern Qi Dynasty discussed peace here, so they changed their name to Hezhou. Historical evolution
The ancient name of He county is Liyang, which is named after "Lishui in the south of the county". According to historical records such as Shangshu, Yugong, Tongdian, Yuanhe county annals and Taiping Huanyu records, the Zhou Dynasty was the capital of Yangzhou, and the spring and Autumn Period belonged to Wu. In the Warring States period, Chu invaded sishang in the East, so it belonged to Chu.
