Chaohu Chaohu City, a county-level city managed by Hefei City, Anhui Province, is located in the middle of Anhui Province and the south of Jianghuai hills, between Hefei and Wuhu. It borders Hanshan County in the East, Feidong County in the northwest, Wuwei County in the south, Lujiang County across Zhaohe River in the southwest and Quanjiao County across Chuhe River in the northeast. The total land area of the city is 2046.14 square kilometers, of which the water area of Chaohu Lake is 463.78 square kilometers. Historical evolution
In Shang Dynasty, it belonged to southern Xinjiang, so it was named Nanchao. "Shang Shu Zhong Hui Zhi Gao": "Cheng Tang put Jie in Nan Chao."
In Zhou Dynasty, it was the land of Chao (Bo). In the spring and Autumn period, it belonged to Chu. Four East to Zhaoguan (now Hanshan county), West to Lujiang, South to the Yangtze River, north to Chaohu. Chaoguo was occupied by Wu for many times. In 472 BC, Chaoguo was returned to Chu after Wu was destroyed.
After the unification of the Qin Dynasty, it was established as a county. Today zhegao is called LuoGao County, and today Juchao county is also called Juju county to the south of Chaohu Lake. Both counties belong to Jiujiang county.
At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cao Cao occupied the nest, and since then he has been subordinate to Cao Wei.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Juchao, Linhu and Xiangan were set up in the former Juchao area, which was subordinate to Lujiang County.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, nanyuzhou was established and led by Nanqiao county. In 459, Juchao changed its name to Qi and was subordinate to Liusong. Because of this, Xiao Qi. Nanliang is located in Hezhou; Nanqiao county where Qi is located belongs to it.
In 581, Xiang'an was changed to Lujiang County.

In January 1912, Chaoxian was directly under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province; in June 1914, Chaoxian was under the jurisdiction of Anqing road; in October 1932, Chaoxian was under the jurisdiction of the second special district and then changed to the fifth special district; in October 25, 1938, Chaoxian was changed to the third special district; in January 1939, Chaoxian was restored to the fifth special district.
On April 21, 1949, Chaoxian County belonged to Chaohu District of the northern Anhui administrative office.
On February 4, 1952, Chaoxian county was transferred to Wuhu District, and in the same year, the county government moved from zhegao to Chaocheng.
On August 7, 1958, Chaoxian county was changed into Hefei city.
On April 13, 1961, Chaoxian County returned to Wuhu district.
On July 14, 1965, Chaohu district was reestablished and Chaoxian county was subordinate to it.
On August 29, 1971, Chaohu district was renamed Chaohu District, and Chaoxian county was under the same jurisdiction.
On January 4, 1984, Chaohu City was established from county to city, and its administrative area remained unchanged.
On July 9, 1999, according to the reply of the State Council to cancel the establishment of prefecture level Chaohu City in Chaohu District, county-level Chaohu City was changed into Juchao District, subordinate to prefecture level Chaohu City; on December 6, Juchao District held a formal inauguration ceremony.
In August 2011, according to the reply of the State Council on Approving the cancellation of prefecture level Chaohu City in Anhui Province and the adjustment of some administrative divisions, Juchao District was changed into county-level Chaohu City. The newly established Chaohu City was directly under the central government of Anhui Province and managed by Hefei city. On August 23, the county-level Chaohu City was officially unveiled.
