Yuhuan, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, is managed by Taizhou city. It is located in the southeast coast of Zhejiang Province, the middle of China's gold coastline, the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta economic circle, the East China Sea in the East, Dongtou ocean in the south, and Dongtou District of Wenzhou City. It faces Yueqing City across Yueqing Bay in the West and northwest, and Wenling City in the north and northeast.
The name of Yuhuan City originates from the island's wonders. According to the ancient records, "the morning mist encircles the island, and its shape is like a ring; there is running water on it, and it is as white as jade.". The city is composed of Chumen Peninsula, Yuhuan island and 135 peripheral islands. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, with hills and plains alternating. The land area is 378.5 square kilometers, and the sea area is more than 1900 square kilometers. It has two national AAAA tourist attractions.

Historical evolution
Xia, Shang, Western Zhou and spring and Autumn Period belong to Ouyue.
During the Warring States period, it first belonged to Yue and then to Chu.
In the Qin Dynasty, the county belongs to Minzhong county.
In the early Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to the kingdom of Dong'ou. In the third year of Emperor Wu's Jianyuan reign (138 BC), the king of Dong'ou was besieged by the state of min and Yue, so the whole country moved and the county was in ruins. In the second year of the first Yuan Dynasty (85 BC), Huipu county (including today's Wenzhou, Taizhou and Lishui) was set up, which was subordinate to Kuaiji county.
In the sixth year of Jianwu (A.D. 30) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Huipu county was merged into Yin County, which belongs to Huipu township of Yin county. After the precipitation of Huipu, built Zhang'an County, county for Zhang'an County Dongou township. Later, Dongou township was separated out and Yongning County was built, which was subordinate to Linhai county.
During the Three Kingdoms period, it belonged to the state of Wu and was the land of Yongning County, Linhai county.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, it was still Yongning County of Linhai county.
In the first year of Taining in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (323 AD), Yongjia County was established in Haiti; in the second year of Ningkang (374 AD), Lecheng county was established in Yongning, which belongs to Lecheng county.
In the northern and Southern Dynasties, it was still under the jurisdiction of Lecheng county.
In 592 ad, Lecheng county was incorporated into Yongjia County.
In 622 ad, Yongjia County was divided into Yongning County and Lecheng county. The county belongs to Lecheng county. During this period, there are more analysis, abandonment and disposal. Before the second year of Huichang (842 AD), Lecheng county set up Yuzhen in the county.
In the Five Dynasties, it belonged to the state of Wu and Yue and was attached to the Jing Navy. In 908 ad, Lecheng county was changed into Yueqing county. The county belongs to Yueqing county.
In the Northern Song Dynasty, the county was a part of Yuhuan Township, Yueqing County, Wenzhou Prefecture, which belonged to yingdao army of Liangzhe road. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Wenzhou government was changed into Ruian government, and the county was Ruian government, Yuhuan Township, Yueqing county.
In Yuan Dynasty, it was still Yuhuan township of Yueqing county.
In the early Ming Dynasty, it was still Yuhuan township of Yueqing county. In 1387, due to Japanese pirates harassing the border, the residents moved to the mainland. Now, Yuhuan island and other places to the south of Chumen port (Xuanmen port) were abandoned. In the 12th year of Chenghua (A.D. 1476), the six capitals of Shanmen and Yuhuan townships in Yueqing County belonged to Taiping County, belonging to Taizhou Prefecture. The northern part of the county belonged to Taiping County, and the southern part of the county was privately planted by vagrants.
In the early Qing Dynasty, the northern part of the county was still Taiping County, while the southern part was still privately planted by vagrants. In 1661 A.D., the Qing government ordered to withdraw 30 Li from the frontier sea, and all the people were moved in. The Chumen peninsula was also abandoned. The territory of the pond collapse, waste land, a desolation. In 1727 A.D., Li weizou, governor of Zhejiang Province, invited Zhan to recover Yuhuan. Qinzhun recruited coastal residents (mostly from Wenzhou and Taizhou) to report wasteland for cultivation, recover Yuhuan, and expand the industry. Yongzheng six years (1728 AD), set up Yuhuan office for Wenzhou Branch, government Zhili Province. So far, Yuhuan began to have an independent administrative system.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Xingdao county system, Yuhuan hall was changed to Yuhuan County, belonging to wenchudao (changed to Ouhai road in June 1914). In 1927, the system of Dao County was abolished and Yuhuan County was directly under the provincial administration. In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932 AD), the administrative supervision area was established, which belongs to the jurisdiction of Wenzhou. In the 37th year of the Republic of China (AD 1948), the county belongs to the fifth administrative supervision district of Zhejiang Province.
On April 7, 1949, Yuhuan was liberated. On April 14 of the same year, the CPC Yuhuan County Committee and the Yuhuan County democratic government were established. On May 12 of the same year, the democratic government of Yuhuan County was changed into the people's Government of Yuhuan County. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, also known as Yuhuan County, Taizhou district. Yuhuan County has 5 districts and 49 townships.
In May 1953, Dongtou County (now Dongtou District, Wenzhou City) was established in 19 towns of Dongtou and Damen districts.
In July 1958, the organizational system of Dongtou County was abolished, and the territory returned to Yuhuan County.
In April 1959, the organizational system of Yuhuan County was abolished. The two people's communes of Dongtou and Damen were transferred to Wenzhou, and the rest were incorporated into Wenling County, which is still under the jurisdiction of Wenzhou.
In April 1962, the organizational system of Yuhuan County was restored (excluding Dongtou County), which is under the jurisdiction of Taizhou.
In April 2017, with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish Yuhuan County and establish Yuhuan city at the county level, with the former administrative region of Yuhuan County as the administrative region of Yuhuan city. Yuhuan city is directly under the central government of Zhejiang Province and under the administration of Taizhou city.

After the completion of the land reform, the districts, townships and towns will be readjusted. On January 15, 1952, the former Sanpan district was liberated and the original township and town system was restored. Chenyu district will be built in August. In October, Dongtou district and Damen district were divided in the third panel. By the end of the year, the county had jurisdiction over 7 districts and 79 townships and towns.
In May 1953, 19 townships and towns separated from Dongtou and Damen districts, and Dongtou County was established.
In February 1956, due to the need of agricultural cooperative development, districts, townships and towns made adjustments. Three towns, six townships, two districts and 13 townships were established.
In July 1958, the organizational system of Dongtou County was abolished, and 11 townships and towns under its jurisdiction were re classified into Yuhuan County. In November of the same year, Yuhuan County took the district as the unit to realize the people's communization, under the jurisdiction of the production brigade (later also known as the management area). By the end of the year, there were 6 people's communes and 46 production teams in Yuhuan County.
In April 1959, the system of Yuhuan County was abolished. The former Dongtou County was assigned to Wenzhou City, and the rest was incorporated into Wenling county (now Wenling City).
In April 1962, the organizational system of Yuhuan County was restored (excluding the original Dongtou County). Since then, the district and commune have been withdrawn, analyzed and changed. By January 1967, Yuhuan County had set up 3 districts, 3 towns and 26 people's communes (upgraded from the original production brigade to the people's commune).
In January 1980, Huanshan town was renamed Chengguan town.
From September 1983 to April 1984, the Township People's government system was restored in Yuhuan County. By 1986, Yuhuan County had set up 4 districts, 22 townships and 7 towns.
On March 11, 1991, waitang Township, fantang Township, Fangdu Township and Qinggang town were separated from Chumen district to build Qinggang district.
From April to may, 1992, the government implemented the policy of removing districts and expanding towns and merging townships. Five districts and 30 townships were removed, and eight townships including Chengguan, Chumen, Qinggang, Ganjiang, Kanmen, Chenyu, xiandie and Salmonella were set up, and four townships including Longxi, Jishan, Lupu and Haishan were set up.
On November 6, 1993, the provincial government approved the establishment of Damaiyu Economic Development Zone in Yuhuan, Zhejiang Province. On July 13, 1994, Damaiyu Economic Development Zone co operated with Chenyu town.
In September 1994, Lupu township was removed and Lupu town was established.
In June 2000, the three towns of Chengguan, Kanmen and Chenyu were abolished and Zhugang town (including Chengguan Office, Kanmen office and Chenyu Office) was established.
In November 2001, xiandiezhen was abolished and its jurisdiction was merged into Chenyu Office of Zhugang town. So far, six towns and three townships have been set up in the county.
In August 2009, Zhugang town and its subordinate offices were abolished and three streets, Yucheng, Kanmen and Damaiyu, were established.
