Daming County is a part of the North China platform fault depression belt, which is located at the junction of Neihuang uplift and Linqing depression. It has the characteristics of Quaternary fault depression inherited from the old structure, so the terrain inclines from southwest to northeast. It used to be a bay and formed a land in Miocene of Neogene because of the high-speed alluvial sedimentation of Zhanghe River and Yellow River. Since then, with the frequent diversion and flushing of the Zhanghe River and the Yellow River, the sedimentary layer has become thicker and thicker.
According to the "thickness map of sedimentary layer of Huang Huai Hai Plain" in agricultural Atlas of Huang Huai Hai Plain published by Beijing Agricultural University in 1988, the vertical sedimentary thickness of Daming County is 5600m, and the rock layer is below it. The buried depth is 400 ~ 600 meters, which is alluvial lacustrine ~ glacial water sediment. The lithology is characterized by red, purple, purple gray or gray green clay and sand clay with sand layer. The clay is fine with gray white stripes and spots. The buried depth is 360-420 m, which is alluvial proluvial sediment. Lithological characteristics: the upper part is rust yellow, red and brown clay with grayish yellow sand layer, feldspar and calcareous white dots are seen in the soil layer, with loess like fragment structure; the lower part is brown red and brown clay with sand layer. The buried depth is 120-260m, which is alluvial proluvial sediment. The lithological characteristics are grayish yellow, brownish yellow or brown sandy clay and clayey sand mixed with sandy clay, with loess like structure. The buried depth is 10 ~ 70m, which is alluvial proluvial and alluvial lacustrine sediments. The lithological characteristics are mainly grayish yellow, brown yellow sand clay and sand clay with sand layer, and black muddy clay with silty fine sand layer, with loose structure.
