Pengan county is located in the middle reaches of Jialing River. It is a famous historical and cultural city at the provincial level, one of the top ten eco-tourism demonstration cities in China, and one of the 50 most beautiful small cities in China. The Qingxi river of Jialing River passes through the city. It is a very beautiful Landscape Park City and an integrated city established in Nanchong. Located in the northeast of Sichuan Province, Nanchong City is under the jurisdiction of the county. In 507 ad (the sixth year of Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty), Emperor Liang Wu named the county in memory of Sima Xiangru. In 1371 ad, it was incorporated into Pengzhou. In 1913, Pengzhou changed its name to "Peng'an", with a total population of 730000 (2019) and 21 towns (streets).
Pengan has a long history, outstanding people, unique location, convenient transportation, 230 km from Chengdu, 200 km from Chongqing, only 30 minutes drive from the main urban area of Nanchong and Gaoping airport. It is closely integrated into the "two-hour economic circle" of Chengdu and Chongqing and the "half-hour economic circle" of Nanchong.
Peng'an is a new industrial city and livable city. Peng'an Industrial Park is a provincial industrial park approved by the national development and Reform Commission and the provincial government, and a growth type industrial park of 10 billion yuan cultivated by Sichuan Province. There are many tourist attractions in the urban area of Peng'an, including the national AAAA tourist attractions Jialing first mulberry, the national AA tourist attractions Dashen Nanhai, Xiangru Lake National Wetland Park, and the National Forest Park Baiyun Mountain.
In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On February 2, 2019, it was rated as the county-level advanced unit of Chinese medicine by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine.

In the fourth year of Tianhe, Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (569 AD), Pengzhou was established, named after the big and small Pengshan mountains. In the second year of the Republic of China, Pengzhou was abandoned and renamed as Pengan county.
History of Jianxian County
The regional name of Peng'an has experienced the change from Xiangru county to Pengzhou to Peng'an county.

In the 40th year of King Xian of Zhou Dynasty (329 BC), after Qin destroyed Ba state, it belonged to Ba County.
In the ninth year after King Huiwen's Geng year (316 BC), it belonged to Langzhong County, Bajun county.
In 200 BC, Liu Bang was called the king of Hanzhong, so Badi was owned by Han Dynasty. In the early Western Han Dynasty, Langzhong county was established as Anhan county. Anhan county was located in the south of the county, and Langzhong county was located in the north. During the song and Qi dynasties of the Southern Dynasties, it was still subordinate to the state.
Dayin County: in the first year of Liang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty (A.D. 502), it was divided into Langzhong county and Dayin county. It was named Dayin mountain in the west of the city. It was located in pengchiba, chating Township in the north of the county, belonging to Longcheng county.
In the fourth year of Tianhe, Emperor Wu of the Northern Zhou Dynasty (569 AD), Pengzhou was established, named after the big and small Pengshan mountains. State security solid (now Yingshan anguchang).

In the 29th year of Kaiyuan in Tang Dynasty (741 AD), Pengzhou, which was set up in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, was moved to Dayin from Angu (now yingshanjing).
In the first year of Guangde in Tang Dynasty (AD 763), Dayin county changed its name to pengchi for controlling the flow of dipeng water. In the 20th year of Yuan Dynasty (AD 1283), pengchi county was abandoned and its land entered Yilong, Yingshan and Xiangru counties.
Xiangru County: in the sixth year of Liang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty (507 AD), Anhan county was set up as Xiangru County in the north. Sima Xiangru, a great Fu writer in the Western Han Dynasty, was born in this place. It is under the jurisdiction of Zitong county.
From the second year of Liang Tianzheng to the second year of Taiping (552-557 A.D.) in the Southern Dynasty, the Western Wei Dynasty occupied Shu and changed it to nantangqu county.
In the third year of kaihuang reign of Sui Dynasty, the prefectures were destroyed and the counties were unified by prefectures, which belonged to Longzhou.
Sui Daye three years (AD 607), changed the state to county, belongs to Brazil county.
In the first year of Wude in Tang Dynasty (618 AD), the county was changed into a state. Xiangru County belonged to Longzhou, and Langchi county was set in the east of Xiangru county. In the fourth year of Wude (621 AD), after Nanchong was established as Guozhou, Xiangru county was changed to Guozhou, and Xincheng County (later renamed Xinzheng County) was established in the northwest.
In the first year of wushengong of Empress Wu Zetian (697 AD), Yuechi County was set up in the southeast of Xiangru County, and Xiangru's office was moved to Lingjiang Town, Jinping Town, Jiangxi Bank of Jialing.
In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742 AD), Guozhou was changed to Nanchong County, and in the first year of Qianyuan (758 AD), Guozhou was restored to Xiangru county.
From the first year of Kaiping in the Houliang Dynasty to the second year of Baoqing in the Southern Song Dynasty (907-1226 AD), the county was subordinate to the former. In the second year of Baoqing, Guozhou was promoted to Shunqing Prefecture by LiZong "Anqian", which is Xiangru county.
In the third year of emperor LiZong's Chunyou (1243 A.D.), Pengzhou moved to neiyunshan (also known as Yunshan, now called Yanshan village in Heshu town) to resist the Mongolian army.
In 1258, Xiangru county was changed from Shunqing prefecture to Pengzhou.
During Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), Xiangru county was directly under the central government of Pengzhou, belonging to Shunqing Prefecture.
In 1650, Pengzhou was changed into a county-level Sanzhou, still belonging to Shunqing Prefecture.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913 AD), Pengzhou was abandoned and renamed Pengan county.
In October 1918, Xiong Kewu, commander-in-chief of the Sichuan Yasukuni army and governor of Sichuan Province, was appointed as commander of the seventh division of the Yasukuni army and stationed in Daxian county. At that time, it had jurisdiction over Daxian, Xuanhan, Kaijiang, Wanyuan, Chengkou, Kaixian, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wuxi, Quxian, Yingshan, Yilong, Peng'an, Tongjiang, Nanjiang, Bazhong, Langzhong, Cangxi, Nanbu, Yanting, Zhaohua, Guangyuan, Jiange and Zitong counties.
Pengan was liberated on December 12, 1949, under the jurisdiction of Nanchong District of northern Sichuan Administration. The county seat is Jinping Town,
In 1952, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanchong District of Sichuan Province. In December 1957, the county moved to Zhoukou town. In 1968, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanchong District, in 1993, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanchong City. In 2006, Zhoukou town was withdrawn and Xiangru town and Xiangru town were set up.
