Shashi District Shashi District is located in the central and southern part of Hubei Province. Shashi was originally a city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, but now it is the central city of Jingzhou. The Treaty of Shimonoseki was opened in 1895, and developed into the second best port in Hubei Province in the early 20th century. Shashi District is 26 kilometers from north to South and 29.7 kilometers from east to west, with a total area of 492 square kilometers (47.7 square kilometers of central built-up area) and a population of 610400 (2010). Shashi has a long history, with more than 3000 years of human history. It has been known as "three famous towns of Chu" since ancient times. There is an ancient city of Jinan, the capital of Chu, which has been established for 411 years by 20 kings of Chu. There are many human landscapes, such as Wanshou garden and Zhanghua temple.

Shashi originated in the pre Qin period. During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period (770-221 BC), it was named Jin, Jiangjin (Yangtze River Ferry) and xiashou, which belonged to the Chu Kingdom of Jingzhou. In the Qin and Han Dynasties (221-8 BC), Shashi was named Jinxiang, which was under the jurisdiction of Linjiang county and Ying County of Jingzhou. In the northern and southern period of Wei Jin (220-581 A.D.), Shashi was called Jiangjin, which was the outer port of Liangdu in 552. It was under the jurisdiction of Jiangling County, Nanjun County, Jingzhou. In the Sui Dynasty (581-618), Shashi was still named Jiangjin, belonging to Jiangling County, the general manager of Jingzhou.
In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the appellations of Shatou, Shatou City, and Shashi first appeared. They belonged to the territory of Jiangling Prefecture, the South County of Shannan East Road, and were the outer ports of Jingzhou. In the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms (907-960), King Gao Jixing of Nanping set up Shatou Town, which was under the control of Jiangling County of Jingzhou in Nanping state (also known as Jingnan state). In the Song Dynasty (960-1279), there was a supervisory town and a Shashi Town, which was under the jurisdiction of Jiangling County, Jingnan Prefecture and Jinghu North Road.
In the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1369), the Department of records and the county government of Jiangling were set up in Shashi, named Shashi Si, which was under the management of Jiangling County, Jiangbei Road, Zhongxing Road, Shannan. In 1367, Zhu Yuanzhang set up Huguang Province in Shashi, and set up Jingnan branch office in sanqingguan of Shashi.
Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), known as Shashi Town, is under the jurisdiction of Jiangling County, Jingzhou Prefecture, Huguang province. In the early Ming Dynasty, the inspection department was set up in Shashi, and the Jingnan administrative office was still set up in Shashi. Sanqingguan and Jiangling County were also set up in Shashi.
In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it was called Shashi Town, Shashi department and Shashi flood (flood was the township system of JianZheng in the Qing Dynasty). The general office of Jingzhou moved to Shashi and set up the Department of bridge patrol and other administrative agencies. Shashi is under the jurisdiction of Jiangling County, Jingzhou Prefecture, Hubei Province. At the beginning of the Republic of China (1912), Shashi, Shashi Town and shashixun were successively under the management of jingnandao and Jiangling County, the fourth and seventh administrative supervision district of Hubei Province. In 1930, the flood control regiment system was abolished and changed to the Second District of Jiangling County, with four towns of fraternity, peace, civil rights and construction built in the urban area. In 1932, Shashi belonged to Jiangling County, the seventh administrative supervision district of Hubei Province, and implemented the system of "Bao" and "Jia". During the period of the Japanese puppet regime (1940-1945), Shashi belonged to the first district of Jiangling, with four towns of fraternity, peace, construction and civil rights.
In August 1945, after the victory of the Anti Japanese War and the restoration of Shashi, the city was divided into three towns: Revival (later changed to nationality), civil rights and construction (later changed to people's livelihood). Under the jurisdiction of the Second District of Jiangling County, the fourth Office of Hubei provincial administrative Commissioner and Jiangling County government moved to Shashi.
In April 1949, in order to meet the liberation of Shashi, the CPC Shashi Municipal Committee was established in Shuanghe County, suixian County, and the preparatory work before entering the city was started. At the end of May, the municipal Party committee was established in dayujiawan, Shilipu, Jingmen. On July 15, Shashi was liberated. On July 17, Shashi municipal Party committee and Shashi people's Government entered the city and announced the establishment of Shashi military control committee of the Chinese people's Liberation Army to exercise military control over Shashi.
At the end of May 1950, the Baojia system was abolished in Shashi, and the residents' group representatives were set up in each street. From August 10 to September 5, the city carried out household registration. A total of 20660 registered households and 83579 people (excluding rural households in suburbs) were registered. At the same time, 137 resident groups have been set up in the city in combination with democratic government building. In October 1951, the city's streets carried out democratic construction. It ended on February 17, 1952. The city has set up 48 residents' committees.
In February 1953, Shashi municipal government decided to set up five district offices and 28 neighborhood committees in the urban area. At 24:00 on June 30, the first national census was carried out. There are 22108 households (1953) and 87967 people (1953) in Shashi. Among them, 816 households (1953) and 3422 people (1953) lived in the suburbs.
On November 11, 1955, Shashi Municipal People's Committee decided to change the four district offices into seven sub district offices (democratic Street, Shengli Street, Meitai lane, Zhongshan Hengjie street, Chongwen street, Jiefang Road, Tongqu sub district office), and divide the 28 neighborhood committees into 46 neighborhood committees (the organizational system of Shuishang district and taishiyuan Township remains unchanged).
On November 28, 1962, Jingzhou special office assigned the whole Shashi democratic commune, five teams of Heping commune, one team of Jingjiang commune and three branches of machinery farm to Jiangling County.
On January 17, 1975, the two people's communes of Lixin and Yangchang in Jiangling County and the two production teams of Zhuqiao and Sujia in zhouhuang people's commune were assigned to Shashi. On March 18, the first section of Huangtan dyke and yangfebruary dyke in Jiangling (450m) were under the management of Jiaosha City, the East dyke (1813m) from leijialong to shaqiaomen of Changhu reservoir dyke and the East dyke (1550m) from guanjukou to chengzitou were under the management of Jiaosha city.
On April 6, 1980, Shashi municipal reform committee divided 60 neighborhood committees into 80. On May 12, people's communes in five cities were renamed sub district offices. On September 10, 1985, 13 villages (8 villages in Luochang Township, 4 villages in Yingdong Township and 1 village in cenhe township) of 1 township (Luochang township) in Jiangling County, covering an area of 36.7 square kilometers, with a population of more than 14000, were assigned to Shashi.

(1) abolish Jingzhou District, Shashi City and Jiangling County, and establish Jingsha City (prefecture level). The Municipal People's government is stationed in the newly established Beijing Road in Shashi District.
(2) Jingsha City is newly established as Shashi District, Jingzhou district and Jiangling District. Shashi District governs Jiefang Road, Chongwen Road, Zhongshan Road, Shengli Road and Chaoyang Road, and Lixin, Guanju, Lianhe and Luochang townships.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Shashi District is 591572, including 59924 in Zhongshan Road, 49746 in Chongwen street, 101798 in Jiefang Road, 75314 in Shengli Street, 111735 in Chaoyang Road, 10715 in Luochang Town, 51480 in cenhe Town, 46943 in guanyinlong Town, 18583 in Lixin Township, 15846 in Guanzui Township, 7238 in Xihu Management District and 14027 in Shashi farm There are 28223 people in Jingzhou high tech Industrial Development Zone.
In December 2003, the community neighborhood committee of the steel pipe plant was under the jurisdiction of Yuqiao economic and Technological Development Zone. At the end of 2003, the total population of Shashi District was 558600, including 449600 urban residents, with a population density of 1225 per square kilometer. There are 5 streets including Zhongshan Road, Jiefang Road, Shengli Street, Chongwen street and Chaoyang Road, 3 towns including Luochang, guanyinlong and cenhe, and 2 townships including Lixin and Guanju. There are 109 communities (including 4 communities in rural areas), 80 administrative villages and 573 villager groups, and the provincial livestock breeding farm is managed on behalf of the government.
At the end of 2004, Shashi District had a total population of 540633, with jurisdiction over 5 streets, 3 towns, 3 townships, 105 neighborhood committees and 91 administrative villages. By the end of 2005, Shashi District had jurisdiction over 5 streets, 3 towns, 3 townships, 87 neighborhood committees and 91 administrative villages. In April 2012, four villages of cenhe town in Shashi District and cenhe original seed farm were assigned to Jingzhou Development Zone for management.
According to the sixth census in 2010, the total resident population in Shashi District is 600330, including 57566 in Zhongshan street, 51208 in Chongwen street, 85584 in Jiefang street, 75002 in Shengli Street, 58834 in Chaoyang Street, 88308 in Lianhe street, 9927 in Luochang Town, 47121 in cenhe Town, 34010 in guanyindang Town, 15841 in Guanju Town, 55505 in Lixin Township, 7928 in cenhe original seed farm and 7928 in Shashi There are 13496 people on the farm.
