During the Warring States period, the county belonged to Gufan. In the spring and Autumn period, it was the eastern border of Chu.

In the fifth year of emperor Gaodi of the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC), fan county was called Fanyang County, belonging to Yuzhang county. During the Three Kingdoms period, Poyang County belonged to Yangzhou of Wu state, and the county still belonged to it. In the first year of Yuankang in the Western Jin Dynasty (291), it was changed to Jiangzhou. Xinping town was established in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. In the 11th year of Yuanhe (816) of emperor Xianzong of Tang Dynasty, because of flood, the county government moved to the highland to the west of Changjiang River, that is, the old town of Fuliang town. The city went through song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, until the fourth year of the Republic of China (1915), lasting for more than 1100 years.
In 1916, Chen Anqian, governor of Jingdezhen County, ruled the county.
On April 29, 1949, the county government of Jingdezhen was liberated and the city was established, and the original administrative office was transferred to the Municipal People's government. On May 1, the CPC Fuliang County Committee and the county people's government were established, and the county government moved back to the old city. The county Party committee was set up in the Confucian Temple (now in the Middle School of the old city); the county people's government was set up in the ancient county yamen, and soon moved to the new factory in the eastern suburb of Jingdezhen (now in the pottery Research Institute of the Ministry of light industry), and moved back to the old city in August.
In 1953, Fuliang area was merged into Shangrao area. At the end of the year, the CPC Fuliang County Party committee and the county people's government moved from the old city to the former Fuliang regional organs. The county Party committee was in the dormitory of Lianhuatang municipal Party committee in today's Jingdezhen City, and the county government was in the Public Security Bureau in today's Jingdezhen city. There are still some county organs and units still located in the old city.
On September 30, 1960, the organizational system of Fuliang County was abolished, and the administrative region was directly under the central government of Jingdezhen city. All organs and units were under the jurisdiction of Jingdezhen city.
On October 11, 1988, the Ministry of Civil Affairs (min PI No. 39) replied: with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish Ehu district and Jiaotan District of Jingdezhen city and set up Fuliang County, with the county government stationed in the old urban and rural areas.
In August 1989, the organizational system of Fuliang County was restored, and the new county was built in dashikou.
