Panji District Panji district is under the jurisdiction of Huainan City, Anhui Province. Formerly known as gugou District, it was changed to Panji District in 1980.
Panji district is located in the southern end of Huanghuai Plain, adjacent to Huaihe River in the south, cihuaixin River in the north, Huaiyuan County in the East and Fengtai County in the West.

Panji District, in the pre Qin period, belonged to the state of Zhou, which was later destroyed by the state of Chu.
In the Qin Dynasty, Cai county was established, which successively belonged to Sishui county and Jiujiang county.
In the Han Dynasty, Huainan was abolished in the first year of Yuanshou (122 BC), and Xiacai County belonged to Peijun county.

In the early Song Dynasty, Shouzhou belonged to Huainan West Road; in the sixth year of Zhenghe (1116), Shouzhou was promoted to Shouchun mansion, and Xiacai was the governor of the mansion.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Xiacai county was subordinate to Anfeng road.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Fengyang Prefecture. Fengtai County was set up in 1732, and Xiacai county was transferred to Xiacai in 1865.
In 1914, it belonged to huaisidao; in 1928, it belonged to Anhui Dao; in 1932, it belonged to Shouxian County Office, the fourth administrative supervision district of Anhui Province; in 1938, it belonged to Fuyang office, the seventh administrative supervision district of Anhui Province.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, in September 1972, five communes in Fengtai County, including gaohuang, gugou, Panji, Nihe and Jiagou, and erdaohe farm affiliated to Anhui production and Construction Corps, were incorporated into Huainan City; in December 1972, gugou district was set up; in October 1980, gugou District was renamed Panji district.

Panji district is located in the middle reaches of Huaihe River, north of Huainan City. It is located at 116 ° 21 ′ - 117 ° 11 ′ E and 32 ° 32 ′ - 33 ° 06 ′ n. It borders Huaiyuan County in the East and northeast, Datong District, Tianjiaan District, Xiejiaji district and Bagongshan District in the south, Fengtai County in the West and southwest, and Mengcheng County in the north. The west end is Shiji village of Luji Town, which borders Dingji town of Fengtai County; the north end is Zhuji village of hetuan Township, which meets Mengcheng County at the center line of main channel of cihuai new river. The total area of the region is 590.08 square kilometers.

The strata in Panji area belong to North China stratigraphic area. After long-term geological process, they are developed into Cambrian, Ordovician, Permian and Triassic. The above strata are covered by Quaternary topsoil, with a thickness of 1201-564m. Due to the thick topsoil and multi-layer quicksand layer, the water content is high.
The area is located in the southern end of the Huang Huai plain. The landform is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The slope is 1 / 5000. The altitude is 18-22 meters. The highest point is gulugang in hetuan Township, with an altitude of 23.86 meters. The lowest point is Tangyu Lake in gaohuang Town, with an altitude of 16.9 meters. Due to the change of river course, the Yellow River and Huaihe River have been inundated and silted up in the past, and the terrain is mostly River Valley silting plain and irregular tufugangtou.

River system
Panji district is located in Huaihe River Basin, the largest surface water is Huaihe River. Huaihe River flows into the area from Jiahe sluice, flows eastward through the southern edge to Yinjiagou sluice, and flows eastward through the area for 34 km. The primary tributaries of Huaihe River are Jiahe River and Nihe River, and the secondary tributaries are Heihe River and Yihe River. In addition, there is an artificial river, cihuaixin River, which flows from west to East in the north of the border, with a flow length of 6.7 km. The artificial rivers in the territory are Limin New River, Gugao New River, etc.
