Historical evolution
7000 years ago, to the east of Jiashan was the Bay, which was called "ancient Jiashan bay" in the academic circles. At this time, the land in the southeast plain of Taihu Lake initially formed and Jiashan lived in it. According to the skull of Sibuxiang excavated from hongqitang in 1959, the ancestors at that time had made a living by fishing, hunting and planting rice on this highland. From the Majiabang cultural site excavated in Duwei, Taiji village, Weitang, to the Songze cultural period (5800-5000 B.C.), the ancient "Taihu bay" and "Jiashan bay" were shallow sea and lagoon areas; from geological exploration, it was found that there were six growth layers of marine animals such as oysters in Jiashan. By the time of Liangzhu Culture (5000-3600 years ago), "Jiashan bay" had developed into a swamp. At this time, except for part of the water in the ancient Taihu Bay flowed to the southeast, most of it flowed to the East. Therefore, most of the rivers in Jiashan County now flowed from west to East into Wusong and Huangpu of Shanghai and into the river and sea.
Many ancient cultural sites, such as neitaiji village and xiaohenggang village in Jiashan County, dagaowei village in Yaozhuang Town, Zhang'an village, and huangdang Nantan village in Dashun village in Xitang Town, have confirmed that as early as 6000 years ago during the Majiabang culture period, the ancestors opened fields in swamps, planted rice and raised livestock.

Jiashan County was set up to govern Weitang and subordinate to Jiaxing Prefecture. "In the old days, there were six townships of Jiashan, which were popular in Dunpang and rarely violated the constitution, so it was called Jiashan.". The Qing Dynasty followed the Ming Dynasty. From the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860) to the second year of tongzhi (1863), the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom established local political power in the territory.

Jiashan was the second county administrative supervision district, which was renamed the second district the next year. It was occupied by the Japanese army in November 1937, which was the earliest occupied County in Zhejiang Province. It was restored in September 1945, which was the longest occupied County in Zhejiang Province. In April 1948, it was under the jurisdiction of the first administrative supervision area.
