Lulong County is named because its northwest is close to the ancient Qishui (Qinglong River). In Shang Dynasty, the area of Lulong County was the land of Guzhu. Sui kaihuang eighteen years (598), began to name Lulong County. In November 1958, Lulong County was abolished and its jurisdiction was assigned to Qian'an and Changli counties. On May 20, 1961, the original jurisdiction of xuchangli and Qian'an counties was restored to Lulong County, which belongs to Tangshan area. In May 1983, Tangshan area was abolished and Lulong County was transferred to Qinhuangdao city.
