Yazhou District Yazhou district belongs to Sanya City, Hainan Province. It is located in the west of Sanya City, Hainan Province. It was originally named Yacheng town. Because it is located in ancient Yazhou Prefecture, it is named Yazhou district. In January 2015, Yacheng town was officially abolished and Yazhou district was established.

Yazhou district is located in the west of Sanya City, bordering Ledong County in the north and West, with a total area of 347 square kilometers, 42 kilometers away from the urban area of Sanya. Yazhou Bay, together with Yalong Bay, Dadonghai Bay, Sanya Bay and Haitang Bay of Sanya City, is known as the "five famous bays of Sanya".

As of 2016, Yazhou district has 32 villages (communities) and 88 natural villages with a population of 160000. In 2017, the region's GDP reached 5.424 billion yuan.

In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics.

Evolution of organizational system

According to the records of Yazhou in Qing Dynasty, Zhenzhou (now Sanya area) was changed to Yazhou in 972, which was subordinate to Qiongzhou. In 1073, Yanzhou was changed into zhuya army. In the seventh year of Zhenghe of Song Dynasty (1117), zhuya army was changed into Jiyang army. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, Yazhou was still used. After the evolution of construction, Yacheng ancient town has always been the seat of the state, military government and the government of the Republic of China.

In 1950, Ya county was liberated and the people's Government of Ya county was established in Yacheng.

In 1954, Yacheng town was built. In 1958, gunboat commune was established. In 1984, the town was restored.

In August 2001, Yacheng Town, Baogang Town, Meishan town and Yaliang Township merged to establish Yacheng town.

On January 25, 2014, the State Council approved the cancellation of six towns under the jurisdiction of Sanya City and the establishment of four new municipal districts in Hainan Province. Among them, it is agreed to abolish Yacheng town of Sanya City and establish Yazhou District of Sanya City. The former administrative region of Yacheng town is the administrative region of Yazhou district. The people's Government of Yazhou district is located at 288 Shuinan Avenue.

On October 23, 2014, Jiyang District, Haitang District, Tianya district and Yazhou District of Sanya City set up the preparatory group for the first people's Congress of each district, which is responsible for the preparation of relevant matters for the first people's Congress of each district.

On January 2, 2015, the founding meeting and unveiling ceremony of Yazhou District of Sanya City were held, and the Party committee, people's Congress and government of Yazhou district were officially established.

Yazhou district is located in the west of Sanya City, the southern tip of Hainan Island, in the open area of the lower reaches of Ningyuan river. Its geographical coordinates are between 108 ° 56 ′ e to 109 ° 48 ′ E and 18 ° 9 ′ n to 18 ° 37 ′ n. The total area is 383.25 square kilometers. It is adjacent to Tianya District of Sanya City in the East, Baoting County in the north, Ledong County in the west, Nanhai in the south, and 42 km away from Sanya City.

Yazhou district is rich in water resources. Ningyuan River, which flows through Yazhou area, is the fourth largest river in Hainan Province. It originates from Baoting County, with a length of 83.5 km, a rainfall collection area of 1020 square km and an annual runoff coefficient of 0.44. It has great potential for water conservancy development. There are 13 reservoirs and ponds and 2 drinking water projects in the region, with a total storage capacity of 24.38 million cubic meters and a normal storage capacity of 15.92 million cubic meters. There are 19 main canals with a total length of 48.4 km, 8 drainage canals with a total length of 16 km, 34 branch canals with a total length of 70 km, and 70 ditch canals with a total length of 65 km. There is also a national key water conservancy construction project, Dalong Reservoir.

Surface hot water

Yazhou district has two low and medium heat surface hot water wells: Yacheng hot water pool hot spring well and Nanbin farm hot spring well.

There are abundant natural gas resources in the sea area near Nanshanling, Yazhou District, Sanya. Drilling on ya 13-1 and Ya 13-2 structures, two high-yield natural gas wells have been found. The daily production of natural gas in the front well is 1.2 million cubic meters, and that in the back well is 250000 cubic meters. According to the estimation of Arco company, the natural gas reserves of Ya 13-1 structure are about 34-118.2 billion cubic meters, and the recoverable amount is 51.988 billion cubic meters. The annual production of ya 13-1-1 well can reach 5 billion cubic meters, which can supply gas for 15-30 years.

Beiling, Yacheng, is a vein gold deposit with a range of 200-300m, gold bearing quartz vein of 0.61-0.8m, gold grade of 4.2-7g, and private mining.
