Changzhou District Changzhou district is located in the west of Wuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, bordering Wanxiu District in the East, Longwei District in the south, Renhe Town of Cangwu county and Chishui town of Teng County in the west, and daoshui town of Cangwu County in the north. Wuzhou people's government and the comprehensive office buildings of the municipal Party committee, the Municipal People's Congress and the Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference under construction are all located in the area under its jurisdiction, which will become the political, economic and cultural center of Wuzhou City.
Changzhou district is one of the youngest urban areas in Wuzhou City. It is located in the west of Wuzhou City, adjacent to Guangdong Province and connected with Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.
Historical evolution
Since its establishment, Wuzhou has been a county seat for more than 700 years. In 583, Guangxin county was changed to Cangwu county. In the fourth year of Wude of Tang Dynasty (621), it was called Wuzhou. In 1279, the Department of pacification in Wuzhou was changed to Wuzhou Road, and a general office was set up to govern Wuzhou and Cangwu county. In 1470, Emperor Xianzong of Ming dynasty founded the governor's office of Guangdong and Guangxi in Wuzhou, which is the earliest governor's office in Chinese history. Wuzhou became the political and military center of Guangdong and Guangxi. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, Wuzhou belonged to Wuzhou Prefecture of Guangxi Province and Wuzhou Prefecture of Guangxi Province.
In 1725, Wuzhou changed its jurisdiction to Cangwu, Tengxian, Cenxi, Rongxian and HUAIJI. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Wuzhou was under the jurisdiction of the military and government branch of Wuzhou. In the second year of the Republic of China, Guangxi abandoned the government as a county and restored Cangwu County, which was under the jurisdiction of Yujiang road.
Wuzhou suburb was built in February 1951 by the riverside town of Kowloon, Taihe. Xinmin and other villages are merged with Wangbu Township in the third district of Cangwu county and Qianjian village in Xinhua Township in the fourth district.
On February 19, 1952, Xixing and Tangyuan townships were added. On February 11, 1953, Gaowang township was added. In 1953, the suburban people's government was abolished and renamed the district office. In June of the next year, it was renamed the suburban people's government. In August of the next year, it was changed into a suburban office.
In June 1956, five townships in the suburbs were transformed into agricultural production cooperatives.
In April 1960, the Longxin production brigade under the jurisdiction of Cangwu county was added. In November 1970, 12 production brigades, including Zhengyang, were added under the jurisdiction of Cangwu county.
In February 1979, the suburban Revolutionary Committee was abolished and red flag and Cheung Chau were set up.
In February 1984, Wuzhou Municipal People's Government assigned the Dongxing brigade of Hongqi commune to Dieshan district. On September 23, 1984, the suburban people's government was restored.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population in the suburbs is 80480. Among them, there are 38364 people in Changzhou town, 26595 people in Longhu town and 15521 people in Chengdong town.
On January 2, 2003, the State Council (Guo Han No.1) approved and agreed to adjust the administrative divisions of Wuzhou municipal district and Cangwu county. Among them, Wuzhou suburb was abolished and Changzhou district was established. Changzhou district has jurisdiction over Xinxing village, Longxin village and Pinglang village in Changzhou town and Longhu town. Meanwhile, Xinxing 2nd Road neighborhood committee, longshanli neighborhood committee, Xidi 3rd road 1st neighborhood committee, Xidi 3rd Road 2nd neighborhood committee in Dishan district and daoshui town in Cangwu county are under the jurisdiction of Changzhou district. Changzhou District People's government is located in Xinxing 2nd road. The former suburban Chengdong town was put under the jurisdiction of Wanxiu district. Gaowang village, Xinmin village, Wangbu village and Tangyuan village in Longhu town are under the jurisdiction of Dishan district. On February 13, 2003, Wuzhou City carried out zoning adjustment, abolished the suburb of Wuzhou City and established Changzhou District of Wuzhou City. It has jurisdiction over Changzhou town and Xinxing, Longxin and Pinglang villages in the suburb of the former city, as well as doushui town and Datang sub district office in Dishan District, which are transferred from Cangwu county. The total area of the region is 377.76 square kilometers, with a total population of 143800. The residence of the district government was moved from No. 10 shenglongli, Xinxing 1st road to No. 193, Xinxing 2nd road. In August of that year, the office building was relocated and the plaque ceremony for the establishment of Changzhou district was held. Changzhou District governs Changzhou town, doushui Town, Datang street and Xinglong Street, with 35 administrative villages (communities), 625 Village (residents) groups, 32268 households (including 22942 agricultural households) and 143800 people (including 88741 agricultural population).
In 2003, with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish the suburb of Wuzhou City and establish Changzhou District of Wuzhou City. Changzhou District governs the Xinxing, Longxin and Pinglang villages of Changzhou town and Longhu town in the former suburb. Meanwhile, Xinxing 2nd Road neighborhood committee, longshanli neighborhood committee, Xidi 3rd road 1st neighborhood committee, Xidi 3rd Road 2nd neighborhood committee and daoshui town of Cangwu County in Dieshan district are under the jurisdiction of Changzhou district.

On June 27, 2019, the administrative area of Changzhou district is 108 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over three streets (Datang street, Xinglong Street, Hongling Street) and two towns (Changzhou town and daoshui town).

It has jurisdiction over 10 communities: Longshan community, Jinye community, Datang community, Hengxiang community, Jingwu community, Huayang Community, Fengye community, Haojing Yuecheng community, happy community and Shenguan community.
Xinglong Street
It has jurisdiction over 2 organic villages and 3 communities: Pinglang village, Xinxing village, Liangguang community, Xingning community and Yide community.

Changzhou is the confluence of Xijiang River, Xunjiang River and Guijiang River in the Pearl River Basin. It is the transportation hub from the Central Plains to Lingnan, and the gateway for materials from Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and Hunan.
