Lunan District, under the jurisdiction of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, is one of the downtown areas of Tangshan city. Historical evolution
Lunan District, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, immigrated from zaoshuzhuang, Shandong Province, and gradually became a village.
During the Qing Dynasty, with the construction of Kaiping Mining Bureau, commerce and trade gathered in the area of hills and became increasingly prosperous.
By the 1930s, it had become the birthplace of Tangshan.
In 1949, the district was divided into two, three and six districts of Tangshan city.
In 1955, it was merged into Lunan district (the district was built in 1952), which got its name because it was located in the south of Jingshan railway.
On January 9, 2012, Huimin road sub district office and liangjiatun road sub district office were officially established. The two sub district offices were formerly located in 19 villages of nvzhizhai township.
At the beginning of 2010, the centralized relocation and reconstruction of 19 villages was started. The newly established huimindao sub district covers an area of about 6 square kilometers, covering Nanhu in the East, jiangjuntuo road in the south, West circuit in the west, and West circuit in the north, with a population of 70392. In December 2013, Tangshan Municipal government decided to entrust the whole of Daodi town in Fengnan District to Lunan district under the same administrative division. Daodi town is located in the north of Fengnan District, adjacent to daqigezhuang town and Xiaoji town in the East, Xige town and Huanggezhuang town in the south, Fengnan town in the west, nvzhizhai Township in Lunan District in the north, 8km away from Fengnan District in the west, and governs 37 administrative villages with a total area of 50.1 square kilometers The total population is 28629. After the adjustment, Lunan district has an actual jurisdiction area of 117.4 square kilometers, a total population of 262000, a town, a township, nine streets, 63 communities and 56 administrative villages.
In December 2013, Daodi town was entrusted to Lunan District of Tangshan city.
In 2014, the Department of civil affairs of Hebei Province (jizhenghan No. 141) approved to transfer Daodi town of Fengnan District to Lunan district.

Qinglong river is the main discharge outlet of domestic and industrial wastewater in Tangshan City, with a small scale. Its main water source is from atmospheric precipitation and urban sewage. The main flow direction is from north to south, with the maximum flow of 549.9m3/min and the general flow of 50-80m3/min.

In 2014, Lunan district had 6.25 billion tons of coal, which is an important coking coal production area in China. It mainly occurs in the Carboniferous Permian strata of four coal bearing structural basins, namely Kaiping structural basin, Jinggezhuang structural basin, Qieshan structural basin and Jiyu structural basin, among which Kaiping coal bearing structural basin is the largest.
By 2014, five oil and gas fields have been found, and more oil-bearing series are one of the characteristics of petroleum geology in Jidong Oilfield. In 2007, the newly proved reserves were 1 billion tons. The discovered oil and gas resources include not only conventional oil, but also condensate, heavy oil and natural gas.
