In the second year of Qiande in the Northern Song Dynasty (964), Tongshan County was set up in the Southern Tang Dynasty (according to the chronological name of the Northern Song Dynasty). It was named after Tongyang and Qingshan respectively, and belonged to Ezhou. Kaibao eight years (975) belong to Jiangnan Road. In 976, it belonged to Yongxing army on Jinghu North Road. From Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, there was no great change. In 1929, the southeast revolutionary base was formed. By the resolution of Daye Central County Committee, Meitian, Huangsha, Dafan, Cikou and other places of Yangxin were under the jurisdiction of Tongshan County. During this period, the Soviet county government and the National County Government coexisted, and the jurisdiction of the national county government was limited to Nanlin, Chengguan and Xiapu. After 1933, the revolution tended to be at a low ebb, the Soviet area gradually turned to the marginal mountainous area, the KMT administrative region expanded, and Meitian, Huangsha, Dafan, Cikou and other places were still under the jurisdiction of Yangxin County. In May 1934, the Hubei provincial government decided to divide Huangsha, Jiuzhe, Cikou, Dafan, Yanxia, fufu and hengshitan bridge back in Yangxin County into "Dafan special area", which is directly under the jurisdiction of the second administrative supervision area of Hubei Province. In June 1935, the special region was abolished and all localities returned to the original county. In 1940, during the Anti Japanese War, the Japanese Army established the puppet regime in the occupied area, and the puppet provincial government put Dafan District of Yangxin County under the jurisdiction of Tongshan County. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, there were many disputes between the political participation organs of Yangxin and Tongshan counties. After the provincial resolution, Dafan district was still under the jurisdiction of Yangxin County.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, in March 1950, Yanxia, Dafan and Huangsha in Yangxin County were divided into Tongshan. In June 1952, it belonged to Xiaogan special area. In 1954, the villages of huangnigang, sanjiedang, Zhangjia, Sunjia and Huahong in Gaoqiao township of Nanlin district and liaojiashan village in Yushan Township were assigned to Chongyang County. In March 1955, Chen Village, Baiguo Township, eight districts of Yangxin County, was assigned to Tongshan County.
