History of construction
Sihong County has a long history, according to archaeological excavation, as early as 40000-50000 years ago, the Paleolithic "xiacaowan people" multiplied here. Xiacaowan man is the earliest human being found in Jiangsu Province.
From the Western Zhou Dynasty to the end of the spring and Autumn period, Xu capital moved in and became the political center of Xu state, which was subordinate to Xu, Wu, Yue, Chu and Western Chu.
In the early Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Chu, followed by Pengcheng, linhuai and Huaiping.
From the Eastern Han Dynasty to the southern and Northern Dynasties, it belonged to Donghai, xiapi, linhuai, huailing, Anyuan, zhupei and other counties. After the Northern Zhou Dynasty, it was generally Sizhou and Benzhou.
In the founding of the Republic of China, Sizhou was changed into Sixian county.
In October 1940, the Northeast Anhui prefectural committee and special office of the Communist Party of China (later changed to the Party committee and administrative office of the Huaibei Jiangsu Anhui border region) were established. Sinan, SISU, Siyang, Hongze and other border areas and counties in the Anti Japanese base areas behind the enemy were set up in the territory.
In June 1947, Sinan County and Hongze County were merged to establish Sihong County, which was abolished in November.
On April 29, 1949, Sihong County was formally established by the merger of most areas of Sinan County and SISU County, Hongze Lake Administration Bureau, Longji district and jieji District of Siyang County. It belongs to Jianghuai district and later to Suxian District of Wanbei administrative office.
In 1952, it belongs to Suxian District of Anhui Province.
In March 1955, in order to strengthen the management of Hongze Lake, Sihong County and Xuyi county in Anhui Province were exchanged with Xiaoxian county and Dangshan County in Jiangsu Province, and Sihong County was assigned to Huaiyin District of Jiangsu Province.
In 1970, it belonged to Huaiyin area.
In 1983, it belonged to Huaiyin City.
In December 1985, Baoji, Guanzhen, Xinglong and Tiefo townships of Sihong County were assigned to Xuyi county, and Bancheng, linhuai and Chenghe townships of Hongze County were assigned to Sihong County.
In August 1996, Sihong County was divided into Suqian City from Huaiyin City.
In March 2004, Chenji town was transferred from Sihong County to Sucheng district.

In May 1956, Hongze district (part of Hongze Lake Administration Bureau) and Xuefeng town (half city) in Sihong County were sent to the newly established Hongze County. At that time, Sihong County had jurisdiction over 8 districts, 1 town and 74 townships.
In December 1957, the county was divided into two districts, namely Guanzhen and jieji; one town, namely Qingyang Town; 27 townships, namely Xiaolou, Chonggang, Meihua, Guiren, Sihe, Chenji, Jinzhen, Zhuhu, jieji, Caomiao, Taiping, Longji, Chenwei, sunyuan, Lugou, Renhe, Guanzhen, Baoji, Tiefo, Xinglong, Shuanggou, Fengshan, Wangji, Shangtang, Weiying, Menkou and Chengcheng Head.
In 1958, the two districts of Guanzhen and jieji were abolished. 28 townships (towns) were transformed into 28 people's communes and soon merged into 15 people's communes, namely: Qingyang, Guanzhen, Baoji, Tiefo, Shuanggou, Fengshan, Weiying, Menkou, Chonggang, Guiren, Jinzhen, jieji, Longji, cuiji and Lugou.
In 1959, Shangtang, Chenji and Caomiao people's communes were established.
In 1960, Hongzehu forest and firewood farm was set up in Chengtou area of cuiji people's commune; Sihong horse farm was set up in the north of husanzhuang and the west of Shizhuang in menmen commune; Sihong cattle farm was set up in the east of Guantang in Weiying commune; wulijiang farm was set up in wulijiang area of Qingyang commune and east of Chonggang commune.
In 1961, Wangji people's commune was set up.
In 1962, seven people's communes were set up, including Xiaolou, Zhuhu, Xinglong, Shiji, Meihua, Taiping and Chenwei. At the same time, Qingyang people's commune was renamed Qingyang Town.
In February 1965, the provincial horse breeding farm and cattle breeding farm in Sihong County were merged into animal husbandry farm in Sihong County; in May of the same year, Shuanggou town was restored; in the same year, Caomiao and Tiefo people's communes were renamed Caozhuang and Tiefu people's communes.
In 1969, the provincial Hongzehu Chengtou forest and firewood farm was under the jurisdiction of Sihong County, and was renamed Sihong Chengtou forest and firewood farm.
In 1980, Qizhuang improved breed was renamed Sihong County seed farm. From Fengshan commune, Sihe people's Commune will be built in the south of Sihe River and Xiaotong river. At that time, Sihong County had jurisdiction over 2 towns, 26 people's communes and 3 farms.
In 1981, Wangji people's commune, Siyang County Wangji people's commune (the name remains unchanged) and Suqian County Wangji people's commune (renamed wangguanji people's commune), named tianganghu Township after Tiangang Lake; Xiaolou people's commune renamed Dalou people's commune; Caozhuang and Tiefu people's commune renamed Caomiao people's Commune and Tiefo people's commune.
In 1983, the rural system was restored. Communes were changed into townships (towns), production teams into village (neighborhood) committees, and production teams into village (neighborhood) groups.
In December 1985, Baoji Township, Guanzhen Township, Xinglong Township and Tiefo township of Sihong County reached Xuyi county, while Bancheng Township, linhuai Township and Chenghe township of Hongze County reached Sihong County. At that time, Sihong County had 24 townships, 3 towns, 3 farms, 455 village committees and 10 neighborhood committees (residential communities).
In January 1989, Guiren, Jinzhen, jieji and Shangtang were removed from their townships to build towns, and Jinzhen township was renamed Jinsuo town; Shuanggou township was merged into Shuanggou town. Sihong County has 7 towns, 19 townships and 3 farms.
In August 1996, it had jurisdiction over 19 townships, 8 towns, 2 farms, 470 village committees and 28 neighborhood committees (residents' communities).
In April 1998, Sihong County livestock farm was abolished and YAOGOU township was established.
In June 2000, Lugou township was abolished and its jurisdiction was merged into Qingyang Town, sunyuan town and loulou town respectively; Chenghe township was abolished and its jurisdiction was merged into Longji town and Bancheng town respectively.
In August 2005, loulou Township and Chonggang Township were abolished, their jurisdiction was merged into Qingyang Town, and wulijiang farm was merged into Qingyang Town.
In May 2006, wulijiang farm was entrusted by the county economic development zone.
In May 2018, Qingyang Town was abolished and divided into Qingyang street, Chonggang street and loulou street.
