Xinfeng County, a county under the jurisdiction of Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the north of the central part of Guangdong Province, the south end of Shaoguan City, and the intersection of the five cities (Guangzhou, Shaoguan, Qingyuan, Huizhou and Heyuan). It has a long history, superior location, beautiful ecology and rich resources. It is the strategic frontier of Shaoguan integrating into the Pearl River Delta and serving Dawan district.
Xinfeng County was established in 483, the first year of Yongming reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Qi Dynasty, which means "rich in products" and belongs to Nanhai County of Guangzhou. Since then, the name of the county has been Xiuji, Changning, etc., which has been under the jurisdiction of Xunzhou, Longchuan, Huizhou, Guangzhou, etc. since January 1988, it has been transferred back to Shaoguan City. The county has a total area of 2015.2 square kilometers, forestry land area of 2.551 million mu and a total population of 268700. It has jurisdiction over 6 towns, 1 Street, 141 administrative villages and 16 community neighborhood committees.
Xinfeng County has superior location and convenient transportation. Shaoguan is the only county bordering on the Pearl River Delta, only 150 kilometers away from Guangzhou and 180 kilometers away from Shenzhen. Daguang Expressway, an important passageway out of Guangdong Province, has been completed and opened to traffic. It can reach Guangzhou in 1.5 hours through Daguang Expressway, which is the golden suburb of Guangzhou.
Xinfeng County is known as "nine mountains, half water, half farmland". The East is Jiulian Mountain range, and the west is Qingyun Mountain range. It is northeast southwest trend. It is a national key ecological function area, a national ecological demonstration area construction pilot county, an important ecological barrier in Guangdong Province, and a key forestry county in Guangdong Province. Xinfeng is the source of Xinfengjiang, an important tributary of Dongjiang River Basin in Guangdong Province. It is the main water source of Xinfengjiang reservoir (Wanlv Lake). High quality water directly benefits millions of people in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and so on. It has lush trees and lush vegetation, with a forest coverage rate of 80.80%, ranking fourth at the county level in the province. Historical evolution
Before the establishment of Xinfeng County, it belonged to Longchuan County of Nanhai county.
In 483, the first year of Yongming reign of Emperor Wu of the Southern Qi Dynasty, Longchuan County was located in Xinfeng County, which means "rich in products", so it is called "Xinfeng" and belongs to Nanhai county.
Liang Tianjian six years (507), changed to Dongguan county.
In the second year of Chen Zhenming's reign (588), Dongguan county was changed to Dongguan County, and Xinfeng's membership was also changed.
Sui kaihuang ten years (590), Dongguan County waste, Xinfeng is along the state. Kaihuang eighteen years (598), the new Fengxian Xiuji county. In the third year of Daye (607), Yangdi changed Xuzhou into Longchuan County, and abandoned Xiuji County into Heyuan County, which belongs to Longchuan County.
In the third year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty (1569), Heyuan county was analyzed, and Changning County was set up in the southeast corner of Yingde and Wengyuan counties. When the county was first established, Zhao Yue, the county magistrate, was in charge of the affairs at zhuzhuba (now Lianping county) on the Mu River in Changji capital. In 1572, he moved to hongyanzhou (now xianglingping Daying area in the east of Fengcheng town) to build the Earth City. In the first year of Wanli (1573), the government moved to build a brick city under Junzi Zhang (now Xinfeng County).
In the Qing Dynasty, Changning County belonged to Huizhou Prefecture.
At the beginning of the Republic of China, the government system was abolished. In 1914, it was renamed Xinfeng County because it avoided the name of Changning County in Jiangxi and Fujian provinces. From 3 to 9 of the Republic of China, it belonged to chaoxun district; from 10 to 38 of the Republic of China, it belonged to the fourth administrative supervision district of Guangdong Province.
On June 13, 1949, Xinfeng was liberated. In January 1951, the office of Dongjiang people's administrative inspector (Dongjiang special office) of Guangdong Province was established, and Xinfeng was subordinate to Dongjiang special office.
On November 9, 1952, Xinfeng was transferred to the North Guangdong administrative office. On March 1, 1956, the North Guangdong administrative office was changed to Shaoguan Commissioner's office, and Xinfeng was subordinate to Shaoguan Commissioner's office. After the establishment of Shaoguan special area, Xinfeng was subordinate to Shaoguan special area.
In January 1975, Xinfeng County was under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou city.
In January 1988, Xinfeng County was returned to Shaoguan City.

Xinfeng County is a typical mountainous county. The territory of high mountains, steep terrain, mountains, crisscross. Jiulian Mountain range is in the East and Qingyun Mountain range is in the West. There are 1109 large and small mountains in the territory, of which 65 are more than 1000 meters. The water system in Xinfeng County is influenced by the strike of mountain range and fault structure, forming the lattice water system in Xinfeng County. The whole water system is bounded by Qingyun mountains. To the East, it belongs to Dongjiang River system. The main stream of Xinfeng River originates from the foot of Yunji mountain. To the west, it belongs to Beijiang River system. Its tributaries flow into Wengjiang River in parallel to the northwest and into Beijiang River in the South of Yingde City. As of 2016, Xinfeng is one of the birthplaces of Dongjiang River. 21.4% of the water source of the famous Xinfengjiang reservoir comes from Xinfeng.
