Yonghe County, affiliated to Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located in the south of Luliang mountains, the East Bank of Shanxi Shaanxi Grand Canyon in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, and the northwest edge of Linfen City. It is adjacent to Xi county in the East, Daning County in the south, Shilou County in the north, and Yanchuan County in Shaanxi Province in the West. The county is 41 kilometers wide from east to west and 46 kilometers long from north to south, with a total area of 1212 square kilometers.
Yonghe county has a long history and simple folk customs. Human beings lived and multiplied here as far back as the Paleolithic age. It was established more than 3000 years ago. Huchen county was established in the Western Han Dynasty with a history of more than 2000 years, and Yonghe county was named in 598.
By the end of 2018, Yonghe county had two towns and five townships under its jurisdiction, with a permanent population of 66183, and achieved a GDP of 9115 million yuan, including 233.45 million yuan for the primary industry, 162.27 million yuan for the secondary industry, 5157.9 million yuan for the tertiary industry, and 13800 yuan for the per capita GDP, which was 2085.4 US dollars at the average exchange rate of 6.6174 in 2018.
On February 27, 2020, with the approval of Shanxi provincial government, Yonghe County withdrew from the poverty-stricken county.

The origin of place names
According to Yuanhe county annals, the county is named after Xiyong and Guan. "Yonghe" refers to "Yonglu hele".
History of construction
Yonghe county has a long history, as early as hundreds of thousands of years ago in the Paleolithic, Neolithic age, that is, there are ancient human reproduction here.
Shang and Zhou belong to the same surname of Jin, Zhuhou GuoPu (now Shilou).
In the spring and Autumn period, it still belonged to Pu of Jin Dynasty and set up louyi.
The Warring States period belongs to weipuyang (now Xixian county), still belongs to louyi.
After the unification of the six states, Qin implemented the county system, which belongs to Hedong county (now Jixian County).
In the Western Han Dynasty, Huchen county was established, belonging to Pingyang County.
In the second year of Tang Wude (619), Donghe Prefecture was established. At the beginning of Zhenguan period, Donghe Prefecture was changed from Beilou county to Loushan County, and later to Yonghe County, belonging to Hedong Daoxi Prefecture.
Yonghe county was abandoned in the Five Dynasties, which belonged to Xizhou in the Liang, Tang, Jin, Han and Zhou dynasties.

The first year of the Republic of China (1912) was directly under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province. In 1913, it belonged to Hedong road. In 1916, it returned to the province. In September 1926, it was the sixth administrative region of Shanxi Province. In 1929, it became the fourth administrative region.
In September 1934, Yonghe county was liberated. In January 1935, it belonged to the tenth special area of Luliang District in the Shanxi Suiyuan border region, and later to the ninth special area.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Linfen special district of Shanxi Province. In September 1954, it belonged to Jinnan special district. On September 25, 1958, the system of Yonghe county was abolished and merged into Luliang County. On May 28, 1961, the system of Yonghe county was restored. In 1970, it returned to Linfen.
