Gaoming District Gaoming District is one of the five administrative districts of Foshan City, Guangdong Province. It is located in the middle of Guangdong Province and the West Wing of the Pearl River Delta. It is an important node of the intersection of the Pearl River and the West River. Gaoming District borders Heshan City in the southeast and south, Xinxing County in the southwest, Gaoyao District of Zhaoqing City in the northwest, and Sanshui District and Nanhai District across Xijiang River in the northeast. The administrative region covers a total area of 938 square kilometers, with a permanent resident population of 449600 (in 2020). It governs one street and three towns, and the district government is located in Hecheng street.
In the history of Gao Ming, he had the reputation of "jiaduan County of literary style", "Yanshuo came out in large numbers", land of fish and rice, and capital of mountains, forests and rivers. Gaoming District has a superior geographical location. Genghe town in the West retains the virgin forest, and Hecheng street in the East is close to Xijiang River. It is one of the top 100 comprehensive strength districts in China, a national civilized city, and "the most beautiful eco-tourism destination in China". It is an important part of "Guangfo city" and "Guangfo Zhaoqing economic circle". Gaoming, with more than 100000 compatriots living in Hong Kong and Macao and overseas Chinese living in more than 30 countries and regions in the world, is a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese in Guangdong.
In 2019, Gaoming District will achieve a GDP of 87.158 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 6.5% at comparable prices. According to the resident population, the per capita GDP of the whole region reached 195313 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%.
On November 14, 2019, it was officially named as the third batch of national ecological civilization construction demonstration cities and counties by the Ministry of ecological environment. In February 2020, it will be selected as one of the top 100 food safety counties in China in 2020. On June 30, 2020, it will be included in the list of counties in the second batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas.
Historical evolution
The history of Gaoming District began in the Qin Dynasty, belonging to Nanhai county. The name of Gaoming District began in the Han Dynasty. The imperial court set up troops in qingyugang, the city of the Ming Dynasty. Because of the high terrain, the soldiers' village is located in a high and bright place in the South of the mountain and the north of the river (in the Ming Dynasty, the ancient meaning extended to "Yang", the place in the south of the mountain and the north of the river is Yang), so it is called "Gaoming village". From Han Dynasty to Western Jin Dynasty, it was Gaoyao County of Cangwu county.
In 419, the first year of Yuanxi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Pingxing county was set up in the south of Gaoyao, which was the beginning of the establishment of Gaoming county. It belongs to Xinning County, and is omitted later.
In 441 of the southern and Northern Song Dynasty, Pingxing county was restored to the Southern Song Dynasty (later called Songlong county).
Sui belongs to Xin'an County, South belongs to Duanzhou.
In 507, Liangtai county was established in Pingxing county.
In the kaihuang period of Sui Dynasty, Liangtai county was changed into Qingtai County, and the county government was in Qingtai. In 605, the first year of Daye in Sui Dynasty, Tai county was abandoned into Pingxing county.
In 621, Pingxing county and Liangtai county were restored. In the 13th year of Tang Zhenguan (639), the Qing Dynasty entered Pingxing county.
In 972, Pingxing, Liangtai and Qingtai were merged into Gaoyao county.
In Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. In the early years of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, Gaoming inspection department was set up (located in Qingyu mountain). In 1475, Gaoyao cangbu, Qingtai and other 24 capitals were set up. Gaoming county was named after Gaoming inspection department. The county government was located in Mingcheng.
In the first year of Hongwu (1368), Guangzhou government was set up, which has jurisdiction over 1 Prefecture and 15 counties. Nanhai, Shunde, Sanshui and Gaoming counties belong to today's Foshan area.
In the fifth year of Wanli (1577), Longshui county was upgraded to Luoding prefecture (lingdong'an county and Xining county), and Zhili was the chief minister of Guangdong Province. So far, Zhaoqing government has led: Deqing prefecture (lingfengchuan County, Kaijian county), Gaoyao, Sihui, Xinxing, Yangjiang, Yangchun, Guangning, Gaoming, Enping, one Prefecture and eight counties.
In the early Qing Dynasty, it was made in the Ming Dynasty. Zhaoqing Prefecture is Guangzhao Luodao administrative office, which is under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province. In 1649, Kaiping county was set up; in 1801, Heshan county was set up.
In 1911, it belonged to yuehaidao.
In 1920, it was directly under the province.
The people's Government of the county was established in May 1949. On October 18, 1949, the whole county was liberated.
In January 1950, it belonged to Xijiang special office.
In 1952, it belonged to the central Guangdong special office.
In May 1952, Gaoming and Heshan counties worked together, and the County Department set up shaping, which belongs to the central Guangdong administrative office; in June 1954, the two counties worked separately.
In November 1958, Gaoming and Heshan counties were merged into Gaohe county. The county seat was set up as shaping Town, belonging to Jiangmen Commissioner's office.
In February 1968, the preparatory group of Gaohe County Revolutionary Committee was established, and in March of the same year, Gaohe Revolutionary Committee was established, which belongs to Foshan Special District Committee.
In 1961, it was transferred to the office of the Commissioner of Zhaoqing, and in 1963, it was transferred to the office of the Commissioner of Foshan.
In 1980, it was changed to Foshan administrative office.
In 1981, the system of Gaoming county was restored.
In May 1983, it belonged to Foshan City, and Gaoming town was set up in the county.
On April 18, 1994, the county was removed and the city was established.
On December 8, 2002, Gaoming City at the county level was abolished and Gaoming District of Foshan City was established. In 1920, Gaoming county was divided into six districts: the first district is Mingcheng; the second district is genglou and Xinwei; the third district is Heshui; the fourth district is Yangmei; the Fifth District is Pu'an and chongbu (both Xi'an); the Sixth District is Sanzhou, Xiuli (Hecheng) and Dasha (Renhe).
In the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), it was merged into three districts. The first district was the original first and fourth districts, namely Mingcheng and Yangmei; the second district was the original second and third districts, namely genglou, Xinwei and Heshui; the third district was the original fifth and sixth districts, namely Pu'an, chongbu, Sanzhou, Xiuli and Dasha (Xi'an, Sanzhou, Hecheng and Renhe). During the period of the Republic of China, taihewei (except Shizhou village committee in Fuwan and the northwest part of Xiuli River to the east of Xi'an River in Xi'an) belonged to Gaoyao County, and was assigned to Gaoming County by the end of 1951.
In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China (1949-1956), the county was divided into six districts (1949) from the original three districts, and then divided into three districts (1950).

In 1953, Gaoming was divided into five districts: Bancun (now genglou), sanzhouwei (now Sanzhou, Renhe, Hecheng and the West Bank), xidouwei (now Xi'an, Fuwan), Mingcheng town (now Mingcheng, Yangmei), heshuiwei (now Heshui, yuanxinwei). After the separation of the two counties in 1954, Gaoming county was further divided into four districts: Mingcheng district (Mingcheng and Xinwei), Heshui district (now genglou and Heshui), Sanzhou district (now Yangmei, Renhe, Sanzhou and Hecheng), and Xidu district (now Xi'an and Fuwan).
During the period of agricultural cooperatives (1956), the county was divided into four districts: Mingcheng district (Mingcheng, Yangmei, yuanxinwei); Heshui district (Heshui, yuangenglou); Sanzhou district (Sanzhou, Renhe); Xi'an district (Xi'an, Fuwan, Hecheng).
In 1957, Guangdong Province abolished the district system. Gaoming county is divided into 15 townships.
In the first half of 1958, 15 townships were merged into 10 townships. In the second half of 1958, townships were changed into communes in the early stage of the people's commune. After 10 townships in Gaoming were changed into 8 people's communes, they were merged into 4 communes (roughly the original 4 regions). In the same year, Gaoming and Heshan counties merged. In 1963, 15 communes were set up in Gaohe County after several adjustments, of which 6 communes were set up in Gaoming District, namely Heshui, genglou and Mingcheng (now Mingcheng) It is mainly composed of three parts, i.e. Wucheng, yuanxinwei, Yangmei, Sanzhou (now Sanzhou, Renhe, Hecheng), Xi'an (now Xi'an, Fuwan).
In 1973, Gaoming film was divided into Xinwei commune from Mingcheng commune, Dasha commune from Sanzhou commune and Fuwan commune from Xi'an commune, with a total of 9 communes, namely Heshui commune, genglou commune, Mingcheng commune, Xinwei commune, Yangmei commune, Sanzhou commune (now Sanzhou and Hecheng commune), Dasha commune (now Renhe commune), Xi'an commune and Fuwan commune.
In 1981, Gaoming still set up nine communes.
In 1983, the people's commune was abolished and the organizational system of nine districts was restored.
In 1984, Gaoming town was added with provincial approval; xiuliwei (now Hecheng Street) was divided from Sanzhou District into Gaoming Town, and after the adjustment, nine districts and one district level town were set up in the county.
In 1986, 9 districts were changed into 9 towns, a total of 10 towns.
In 1994, Gaoming county was abolished and built into a city. Sanzhou, Xi'an and Hecheng (renamed from Gaoming town) were changed into street system, and the rest of the town system was retained.
In 2000, Gaoming City had jurisdiction over three streets (Hecheng street, Sanzhou street and Xi'an Street) and seven towns (Yangmei Town, Renhe Town, genglou Town, Heshui Town, Mingcheng Town, Xinwei town and Fuwan town).
In September 2003, Gaoming District of Foshan City adjusted the town level administrative division: genglou town and Xinwei town were merged into genglou Town, and the "enclave" Miaojing village committee, which was originally Xinwei Town, was transferred into the jurisdiction of Xi'an sub district office.
On May 27, 2005, the Department of civil affairs of Guangdong Province approved the adjustment of some administrative divisions of Gaoming District of Foshan City (No. 27, Yuemin District)

Fuwan Town, Hecheng sub district office, Sanzhou sub district office and Xi'an sub District Office (except chongbu village committee, Tanjia village committee, Xingang village committee and Miaojing village committee of the former Xi'an sub district office) were abolished and Hecheng sub district office was established. After the adjustment, Hecheng sub district office has jurisdiction over the administrative area of Fuwan Town, Hecheng sub district office, Sanzhou sub district office and Xi'an sub District Office (except chongbu village committee, Tanjia village committee, Xingang village committee and Gongjing village committee of Xi'an sub district office), with a total of 24 neighborhood committees and 14 village committees. Hecheng sub district office is located in the former Xi'an sub district office.
2. Yangmei town and Renhe Town were abolished and Yanghe town was established. After the adjustment, Yanghe town has jurisdiction over the former administrative areas of Yangmei town and Renhe Town, with a total of three residential areas
