Alashankou Alashankou, which belongs to Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is built according to Alashankou port. It is located between alatao mountain and baluke mountain. It is adjacent to Kazakhstan in the north, Tuoli County in Tacheng area in the East, Ebinur Lake, Jinghe county and Shuanghe city in the south, and Bole City in the West. It is 79km away from Bole City, the capital of Bozhou, 477km and 500km away from Urumqi by railway and highway respectively, and 12km away from the neighboring dostek port of Kazakhstan. The total area of the city is 1204 square kilometers. It governs alatao street and Abihu Town, with a permanent population of 11000.
In May 2011, the State Council approved the establishment of Alashankou comprehensive bonded zone. In December 2012, Alashankou city was established.
In 2014, the local GDP of Alashankou city was 4.27 billion yuan, an increase of 16% compared with 2013; the public budget revenue was 200 million yuan, an increase of 20%; the investment in fixed assets of the whole society was 1.53 billion yuan, an increase of 31%.
