Xiajiang County, located in the north of Ji'an City, is located in the hinterland of central Jiangxi Province, between 27 ° 27 ′ 50 ″ n to 27 ° 45 ′ 20 ″ N and 114 ° 53 ′ 21 ″ e to 115 ° 31 ′ 57 ″ e, with a total area of 1297.75 square kilometers. Xiajiang county has a humid monsoon climate in the middle subtropical zone. In April of the fifth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1526), the three townships of Xingan, namely, Yangming, Duanjin and Yushi, and the three townships of Shanzheng, Taiping and shanganguo, were all set up in Xiajiang County, belonging to Linjiang Prefecture. After the founding of new China, it belongs to Ji'an area. On May 11, 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Ji'an Prefecture was abolished and a prefecture level Ji'an city was established. Xiajiang county belongs to Ji'an city. Xiajiang county has four major water and land transportation arteries, namely Jiangxi Guangdong Expressway, 105 National Road, Beijing Kowloon Railway and Ganjiang waterway, which crisscross the county from north to south. In March 2019, Xiajiang county was selected into the list of the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the list of national health towns (counties) to be reconfirmed in 2019.
In 2018, the GDP of Xiajiang County reached 7.12999 billion yuan, with a comparable growth of 9.0%. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 1.09481 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%, the added value of the secondary industry was 3.1453 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3%, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 2.88988 billion yuan, an increase of 11.6%.
Historical evolution
Xiajiang was once a county of Xingan and Shiyang. In the Xia, Shang and Western Zhou dynasties, it belonged to Yangzhou.
The sixth year of King Jing in the spring and Autumn period (514 BC) belonged to Wu.
During the Warring States period, Wu died and returned to Yue in the third year of King yuan of Zhou Dynasty (473 BC), and Chu destroyed Yue in the ninth year of King Nan (306 BC) and transferred to Chu.
In 221 B.C., Xingan County was established in the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty. It was under the jurisdiction of Jiujiang and Hubei, and Xianjiang belonged to Xingan.
In the fourth year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (203 BC), Xingan belonged to Yuzhang county.
In the first year of Wang Mang's new dynasty (9 years), Yuzhang was changed into Jiujiang County, and Xingan into outing county.
In the first year of Jianwu (25th year) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the county was rebuilt as Xingan County, and Xiajiang was subordinate to Xingan County. In the eighth year of Yongyuan (1996), Xingan and Luling were set up in Shiyang county. Shiyang was to the east of Ganjiang River, and Xingan was to the West.
In 267, the second year of Wu Baoding in the Three Kingdoms, the county of shiyangdi was first established as Bachu County, belonging to Luling county.
In the first year of Jin Yuankang (291), Bachu was transferred to Yuzhang Prefecture.
In the Southern Dynasties, song, Qi, Liang, Chen and Bachu belonged to Luling county.
In 590, Luling was changed into Jizhou, and Bachu and Shiyang counties were merged into Xingan and Luling counties. With Bachu as the town, it is called Xiajiang town. Xiajiang land belongs to Xingan. During this period, Bachu County existed for 323 years, and the county government was located in Bachu (now in the area of beixiaojia in Bachu town), so Xiajiang was called Bachu in ancient times.
Before Jiajing of Ming Dynasty, Xingan was a place with a wide population, but now Xiajiang is located in the border of Xingan, which is inconvenient to manage. In the fourth year of Chenghua (1468) of the Ming Dynasty, Chen Hao, the governor, began to set up the county division. In the fourteenth year of Hongzhi (1501) of the Ming Dynasty, Wu Xu, the governor, and in the thirteenth year of Zhengde (1518), Dai Deru, the governor, also repeatedly applied for setting up the county division. At the beginning of Jiajing period, Qian Qi, the governor of Linjiang, once again proposed to establish a county and play the role of Qin Yue and Tao Yan. He was granted the name Xiajiang. In April of the fifth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1526), the three townships of Xingan, namely, Yangming, Duanjin and Yushi, and the three townships of Shanzheng, Taiping and shanganguo, were all set up in Xiajiang County, belonging to Linjiang Prefecture. Zhisuobaqiu town was moved from the original site to the foot of Fenghuang mountain. Chen Shilang house was set up in the County Department. After that, there were many changes.
The Qing Dynasty followed the Ming Dynasty. In the fifth year of Chengfeng (1855), the government office was destroyed by soldiers and moved to kaopeng (now Zhongshan farm).
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), after the abolition of the government, it was under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province. The county office was changed into the county office. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Xia Province set up the road, Xiajiang changed to Luling road. In 1924, the county office was burned by the defeated army. It was rebuilt in 1925. In the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), the county office was changed to the county government. In the autumn of the same year, the road was abandoned and returned to Jiangxi Province. In 1929, the county government burned and destroyed the soldiers, so it moved to guanyue temple. In 1932, Xiajiang belonged to the ninth administrative region of Jiangxi Province, and later to the third administrative region. In August 1945, the county government was burned by the Japanese army and moved to the Dongxiang guild hall in Zhongshan.
After the liberation of Xiajiang in July 1949, the county people's government still set up Dongxiang guild hall.
After the founding of new China, it belongs to Ji'an area.
In September 1954, the county people's government moved to Renmin Road.
On May 11, 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Ji'an Prefecture was abolished and Ji'an city was established. On August 18, 2000, Ji'an Municipal People's government was officially established. Xiajiang county belongs to Ji'an city.

By 2018, Xiajiang county has jurisdiction over six towns and five townships: Shuibian Town, Baqiu Town, Renhe Town, Yanxi Town, Mabu Town, Luotian Town, Tonglin Town, Fumin Town, Geping Town, Jinjiang town and Jinping Ethnic Township, and another township level unit: Xiajiang Industrial Park. The main peak of five plum blossoms (644 meters) in the East Tonglin is the highest mountain in the county, and the river valley of Ganjiang River (26 meters) in the North Renhe and Tujia is the lowest mountain in the county. The low mountains in the county are mainly distributed in the eastern and western borders, most of which are in the Northeast southwest direction, with 19 peaks at an altitude of more than 500 meters, and a large area of hills in the middle, mostly at an altitude of 100-300 meters, accounting for 62% of the total area of the county. Most of the Ganjiang River and its tributaries are River Valley terraces.

Ganjiang River passes through Xiajiang county from south to north. There are Yijiang River, huangjinjiang River and Panlongjiang River, three primary tributaries of Ganjiang River, flowing through seven towns of Xiajiang County, with a total length of 183 km.
