Tongxin County Tongxin county is located in the central and southern part of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the people's Republic of China, under the jurisdiction of Wuzhong City. It borders Yanchi County and Huanxian County of Qingyang City in Gansu Province in the East, Yuanzhou District of Guyuan City in the south, Shapotou District, Zhongning county and Haiyuan County of Zhongwei City in the west, and Hongsibu District of Wuzhong City in the north. It is located in the Loess Plateau in the south of Ordos platform, with the terrain of high in the South and low in the north, with an altitude of 1240-2625m. There are mainly five types of landforms, such as mountains, loess hills, river valleys, beaches and desert walls. The terrain is complex and the mountains and rivers crisscross. There are Luoshan, Mibo mountain, madashan, Laoye Mountain, Qinglong mountain, Yaoshan and so on, which belong to Liupan mountain system.

Evolution of organizational system

In 849, Tang Dazhong changed Anle Prefecture into Weizhou. In the Western Xia Dynasty, Weizhou jingsai army was set up, and later Xiangyou army was changed. In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Ningxia Fu Road, Gansu Province. in the early Ming Dynasty, he was under the leadership of the chief minister of Shaanxi Province. During the reign of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Pinglu (Pingyuan) was set up in the city of King Yu (now Yuwang Fort) to guard thousands of households, and was attached to Guyuan Wei. Weizhou and Tongxin city were under the jurisdiction of Fuling Prefecture in Ningxia. In 1874, the county was established in Tongzhi County of Qing Dynasty. At that time, it was named Pingyuan and was stationed in Xiamaguan, belonging to Zhili Prefecture of Guyuan, Gansu Province. In 1914, Pingyuan county was renamed Zhenrong County, which was under the jurisdiction of Ningxia Road (shuofangdao) in Gansu Province. In 1918, Zhenrong county was changed to Yuwang county. In 1929, Ningxia road was separated from Gansu Province and established Ningxia Province. Yuwang county belongs to Ningxia Province. In June 1936, the Chinese workers' and peasants' red army launched a westward expedition to liberate Yuwang County, and successively established the workers' and peasants' political power in Yuwang county and settled in Xiamaguan. Later, it was rebuilt as Yuhai County Hui Autonomous Government, stationed in Wangjia tuanzhuang. Yuhai county is the first county-level Hui Autonomous Government in the history of China. Soon after the red army moved, Ma Hongkui's troops restored Yuwang County of the Kuomintang. They moved their residence from Xiamaguan to Tongxin city (also known as half angle city), and changed Yuwang county to Tongxin county. In 1940, Weizhou, Xiamaguan and hongchengshui were assigned to Yanchi County. In March 1954, Ningxia Province established Hedong Hui Autonomous Region, and Tongxin county was under its jurisdiction. In the same year, Ningxia Province was abolished and merged into Gansu Province, and Hedong Hui Autonomous Region was under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province. In May 1955, Hedong Hui Autonomous Region was renamed Wuzhong Hui Autonomous Prefecture. in 1958, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was established, and Tongxin county is directly under the autonomous region. In 1972, Yinnan region was established, and Tongxin county belongs to Yinnan region of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. In 1936, the Red Army liberated Tongxin and abolished the old system of District, township, joint guarantee, Bao and Jia. At that time, Yuhai county had jurisdiction over 14 districts. In 1937, the regime of Tongxin county was restored, and the system of District, township, Bao and Jia was implemented. Later, the system of District, Bao and Jia was replaced by the system of Township, Bao and Jia. before the liberation of Tongxin County, Tongxin county had jurisdiction over 13 townships and 42 guarantors. Tongxin county is divided into 6 districts, 24 townships and 86 villages. In 1950, it was adjusted to 7 districts and 31 townships. In September 1961, Yuejin, Jintong, Xinghuo and Hongwei communes were renamed Chengguan, xinzhuangji, Weizhou and wangjiatuanzhuang communes respectively. The scale of commune is small.
