Lingwu, Lingwu, was called Lingzhou in ancient times. Lingwu dinosaur fossil site 160 million years ago is a dinosaur fossil with large area, concentrated distribution, intact preservation and undamaged surrounding environment. It is one of the largest genera and species of sauropod dinosaurs.
Lingwu is China's national Ningdong energy and chemical base, national urban mineral demonstration base, and national high-quality fruit (Lingwu Changzao) base. Lingwu was called Lingzhou in ancient times, and its county system has a history of 2200 years. The archaeological excavation of Shuidonggou site proves that as early as 30000 years ago, in the late Paleolithic age, human beings flourished in Lingwu, which is one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization.
Lingzhou county was set up in the fourth year of emperor Hui of the Western Han Dynasty (191 BC), bogulu town was set up in the Northern Wei Dynasty, Lingzhou was set up in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and Lingwu county was set up in the Sui Dynasty.
In the Tang Dynasty, Lingwu was the residence of Lingzhou governor and Shuofang Jiedushi. It controlled seven military offices and three surrender cities. Its military coverage reached as far as northwest and Inner Mongolia. After the "an Shi rebellion" broke out, Prince Li Heng ascended to the throne in Lingwu for suzong, and was promoted to the governor of Lingzhou for Dadu. Suzong dispatched troops in Lingzhou, ordered the whole world to put down the rebellion, revived the middle Tang Dynasty, and made Lingzhou famous.
In 1002 ad, Li Jiqian, the leader of Dangxiang nationality, conquered Lingzhou and changed Lingzhou into Xiping Prefecture, which laid the foundation for the establishment of Xixia Dynasty. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Xiping Prefecture and Xingqing prefecture (the capital of Xixia, today's Yinchuan City) were called the East and West capitals.
During the yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, the jurisdiction of Lingzhou was gradually reduced, but its status was still important. Yuan Zhi Zhou mu, Ningxia Fu Road. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, Lingwu County belonged to Ningxia Province, which was divided into one city (Wuzhong City) and six districts. In 1954, Ningxia Province was abolished and merged into Gansu Province, and Hedong Hui Autonomous Region was established, which belongs to Lingwu county. In 1955, gold and silver beach in guojiaqiao township was designated as Wuzhong City. Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was established in 1958, under the jurisdiction of Lingwu autonomous region. In 1972, Yinnan district was established. Lingwu county is one of the seven counties under its jurisdiction. In 1996, Lingwu was set up as a city instead of a county. In 2002, Lingwu was separated from Wuzhong City and managed by Yinchuan city.

After liberation in 1949, Lingwu county was divided into eight districts and 49 townships, and Wuzhong town was changed into a county under the jurisdiction of Wuzhong City.
In January 1950, after one city and three districts in the west of the county were set up to govern Wuzhong City, the county governed five districts and 23 townships. That is: the first district is located in towns, with jurisdiction over 4 townships; the second district is located in chongxingzhai, with jurisdiction over 5 townships; the third district is located in guojiaqiao, with jurisdiction over 5 townships; the fourth district (formerly the seventh district) is located in hongshanpu, with jurisdiction over 5 townships; the Fifth District (formerly the eighth District) is located in Ciyaobao, with jurisdiction over 4 townships.
In 1952, each township of the Fifth District was divided into two townships, and the third and fourth townships of the former Fifth District were established as the Sixth District. In 1953, the state-owned Lingwu farm and the fifth township of the fourth district were merged to form the farm Township, which was directly managed by the county. In the winter of 1955, the first, second, third and fourth districts were abolished, and 19 townships were merged into 10 townships; the fifth and sixth districts remained unchanged. At this time, the county had jurisdiction over 2 districts and 18 townships, including towns, Chongxing, Taizi, hujiabao, haojiaqiao, Qingshuiying, dumuqiao, Xinhua bridge, xinlongtan, farm, Ciyaobao, Qingshuiying, Shagou, Hengshan, Shigouyi, haizijing, Majiatan, yangjiayao, etc.
In 1958, the people's commune, the county formed into three people's communes, under the jurisdiction of 11 administrative areas. That is, Yuejin commune, located in chongxingzhai, governs five management areas; Xinghuo commune, located in Chengguan, governs three management areas; Liaoyuan commune, located in Ciyaobao, governs three management areas. Soon, the three communes were renamed Chongxing, Chengguan and Ciyaobao communes. In 1961, three communes were adjusted to 11 communes. The former Chong Hing commune is divided into 4 communes, namely Chong Xing, Hao Jiaqiao (formerly called Hu Jia Bao), Guo Jia Qiao and Dumu bridge. The former Chengguan commune is divided into 3 communes, namely Chengguan, Xinhua bridge and Wutong tree. The former Yao Yao Bao commune is divided into 4 communities, such as the magnetic kiln fort, Hengshan, Shidou Yi and Ma Jia tan.
In June 1964, the Chengguan commune analyzed the urban part and set up the town. In May 1975, Chengguan commune was renamed Dongta commune. In May 1980, Hengshan commune was renamed Linhe commune, and Shigouyi commune was renamed Baitugang commune.
In April 1981, Wulipo commune was added to the newly developed wuxingpo. In June 1983, the communes were renamed townships. In September, Daquan township was set up in Daquan new irrigation area. In December 1985, Chongxing, Xinhua bridge, Ciyaobao and Majiatan townships were transformed into towns.
In 1996, the county was set aside for the city, and the whole town was governed by 5 townships, namely, the town, Chong Xing, Xinhua bridge, magnetic kiln fort, Ma Jia Tan, and other 9 townships, such as the 9 towns of Linhe, Wutong tree, East Tower, Dumu bridge, Hao Jiaqiao, Guo Jiaqiao, Daquan, Bai Tu gang and five Li Po.
In 2000, Lingwu City governed 5 towns and 9 townships.
