Huaping County, belonging to Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, is located on the North Bank of the middle section of Jinsha River in the northwest of Yunnan Province, between 26 ° 21 '- 26 ° 58' n and 100 ° 59 '- 101 ° 31' e, connecting Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province in the East, Chuxiong in Central Yunnan in the south, Lijiang in the West and Lugu Lake in Ninglang County in the north. It is an important transportation hub from West Yunnan to Sichuan, with a total area of 2200 square kilometers.
Huaping County is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with an average altitude of 1160 meters. It is a typical subtropical low hot valley climate, with prominent three-dimensional distribution and rich mineral resources. It is one of the 200 key coal producing counties in China and the largest mango producing county in Yunnan Province.

History of construction
Huaping has a long history. According to the determination of Neolithic and fire ash found in the huilongwan ancient cave in BAGUAN River, Huaping was inhabited by human beings 20000 years ago. According to historical records, the establishment of prefectures and counties in Yunnan began in the Qin Dynasty and was established and consolidated in the Han Dynasty.
During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty, four prefectures were set up in Yunnan, namely Qianwei County, Yuyu County, Yueyu county and Yizhou county. Yueyu County governs 15 counties, and Huaping is now Gufu county.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, it still belonged to Gufu County of Yueyi county.
In the spring of 225, the third year of Shu Jianxing in the Three Kingdoms, Zhuge Liang set up seven counties in nanzhong, and Huaping was the place of Gufu County in Yunnan. With the change of dynasties, there were some changes of abandonment.
In the period of Nanzhao state and Dali state of Tang Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Shanju county.
During the yuan and Ming Dynasties, it was under the jurisdiction of Beisheng prefecture (prefecture), with the southern part of Gaoshi territory and the northern part of Zhangshi territory.
In the late Qing Dynasty, the local government was changed to set up Liuzhou, which was under the jurisdiction of Yongbei Zhili hall. In the first year of Xuantong (1909), huarongzhuang and jiuyaping were abolished and merged into a county, named Huaping County. Since then, Huaping has officially become an administrative organ at the county level.
In 1931, Huaping County was established.
In 1941, the seventh administrative office of Yunnan Province was set up in Lijiang, and Yongsheng was the tenth administrative supervision district.
In 1950, Huaping County was liberated. In April, it was a county under the jurisdiction of Lijiang Commissioner's office.
In 1980, Lijiang district administrative office was established as a county under its jurisdiction.
On December 26, 2002, Lijiang was set up as a city instead of land, and the former Lijiang area was changed into Lijiang City, a county under the jurisdiction of Lijiang City.

On December 17, 2012, shilongba township of Huaping County was set up as a town. After shilongba township was set up as a town, the resident and administrative jurisdiction of the town government remained unchanged.
