Minle county is subordinate to Zhangye City, Gansu Province. It is located in the north foot of Qilian Mountain, the middle of Hexi Corridor, the southeast of Zhangye City, bordering Shandan and Yongchang counties in the East, Qilian county and Menyuan Hui Autonomous County in Qinghai Province in the south, Sunan Yugur Autonomous County in the Southwest, Ganzhou District in Zhangye City in the West and northwest, with a total area of 3678 square kilometers (2013). The population of Minle county was 230800 (2013). In 2007, the GDP of Minle county was 1.658 billion yuan.
Minle county has Haichao Lake Ecological Resort, biandukou ecological leisure tourism area, Tu Niu city ruins and other famous scenic spots. On October 10, 2018, the Gansu Provincial Government approved Minle county to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties. On December 6, 2019, it was selected as the pilot unit of promoting the quality improvement of farmers' cooperatives in the whole county. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the National Health township (county) naming list of 2017-2019 cycle.

In the spring and Autumn period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, it is said that the territory is the land of Yu and Yuzhi (both Yuezhi), and it is also said that it is the land of Wusun and Yuezhi.
During the Warring States period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, it belonged to Yueshi land. Yueshi city (YONGGU city) and Zhaowu city (Zhaowu village, yannuan Township, Linze County) were the two castles of Yueshi clan in the East and west of Heihe River at that time.
Qin Yue's family was powerful and occupied Hexi, with Zhaowu as the center.
The Western Han Dynasty belongs to the territory of the Xiongnu Youxian king, which is called Xiongnu Youdi in history. Youxian king granted hunxie King jurisdiction. Shanyu city (today's YONGGU city in this county) was the pastoral center and summer resort in the early days of Shanyu king.
In the 9th year of the founding of the people's Republic of China (Wang Mang), Dichi county was changed into Fuwu County, and it was subordinate to sheping county which changed the name of Zhangye county. When Dou Rong separated Zhangye, he set up a new Wansui city (now in the south of the county), which belongs to Zhangye.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was still Dichi county. Before the sixth year of Zhongping (189 A.D.), Lingdi belonged to one of the eight counties in Zhangye County of Liangzhou. Later, it was renamed LanChi County, and WANSUI City, which belonged to five counties under the jurisdiction of Xijun.
Within the territory of the Three Kingdoms, it belongs to Wei, and it is located in LanChi county and WANSUI City, belonging to the West County of Liangzhou.

The Sixteen States of the Eastern Jin Dynasty experienced four regimes: Qianliang, qianqin, Houliang and Beiliang. At this time, counties in the former Qin Dynasty set up Yanxi Qianliang. There are different opinions on the establishment of local records, historical records and historical summary in Houliang. Wang Bingde said: long live and LanChi belong to the West County, Qilian county leads Hanyang and Qilian County, and LinSong county leads LinSong county. According to Wang Bingde, there are LinSong County, Qilian county and Jinshan County, but there is no county name.

In the early Tang Dynasty, the territory belonged to Ganzhou. The first year of Tianbao (742) was under the jurisdiction of Zhangye County, which was renamed Ganzhou, until Tubo fell into Ganzhou in 781. Xixia military set up 12 Jianjun department, Shandan Gansu Jianjun department; administrative set up Privy Council, later known as Shangshu Province, under the province set up county, government. Ganzhou established Zhenyi County in 1037 and Xuanhua Prefecture later. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhenyi county was changed into Zhenyi Prefecture, and Xuanhua government was abolished to make Ganzhou City division. Zhenyi Prefecture is directly under the jurisdiction of Ganzhou City Department and Shandan County. In 1226, Genghis Khan captured Ganzhou.
In the first year of the Yuan Dynasty (1264), the general manager's office of Gansu Province was set up in Ganzhou, and it was changed into the general manager's office of Gansu road in the eighth year. In the 18th year of Zhiyuan Dynasty (1281), Gansu Province was set up, which is called Gansu Province for short. In 1286, the provincial office was moved to Ganzhou, and Ganzhou became the capital of the province. The administrative system below the provincial level includes roads, prefectures and prefectures. Gansu Province governs 7 roads and 2 Zhili prefectures, belonging to Ganzhou road and Shandan Zhili Prefecture.
In 1372, Gansu Wei was set up in Ganzhou in the fifth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. In 1392, Gansu Wei was stopped. In the 26th year, Ganzhou was the capital of Shaanxi Province and the seat of Gansu town. It had four 12 guards, four thousand households, seven guards in Guanxi and thirteen nationalities in Xifan, Qinghai Province. The territory is divided into shandanwei and Ganzhou Wuwei, which patrol Xining Road (governing Ganzhou). Under the jurisdiction of shandanwei, there are characters to be tested, such as sijiaerbao (now Sijia village) and zhaogangbao (now Zhaogang Village).
In 1658, the governor of Gansu moved to Liangzhou (later to Lanzhou). In the second year of Kangxi (1663), Ganzhou set up the governor of Gansu Province and led the four towns. In the third year of Yongzheng reign (1725), the system of Weisuo was changed to that of Fu County. The capital of Shaanxi Province was abolished and Ganzhou Prefecture was set up, and Shandan County was changed into Shandan County.
On February 7, 1913, the government was abolished, and all the prefectures, departments and counties were renamed "counties". Dongle County Cheng was renamed "dongle county", belonging to Hexi Road (later renamed "Liangzhou road"). In March 1927, dongle county was moved to Hongshui town. On December 16, dongle county was changed to Minle county. After the 25th year of the Republic of China (1936), it was subordinate to the office of the sixth administrative inspector general of Gansu Province (zhiwuwei).
On September 22, 1949, Minle County People's government was established. It belongs to Zhangye District of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region. Since January 1950, it has been subordinate to Zhangye District of Gansu provincial administrative office, namely Zhangye special district. On May 25, Zhangye district was abolished and Minle county was assigned to Wuwei district. In October 1955, the State Council approved the abolition of Wuwei and Jiuquan, and their administrative areas were merged into Shandan County. On December 15, 1961, the State Council approved the restoration of Minle county. From January 1, 1962, Zhangye district was divided into three districts: Zhangye District, Wuwei district and Jiuquan district. The county was subordinate to the Zhangye Commissioner's office. In April 1968, during the period of "Cultural Revolution", it was subordinate to the newly established Zhangye regional Revolutionary Committee. Since October 1980, it was renamed Zhangye regional administrative office. On March 1, 2002, with the approval of the State Council, Zhangye Prefecture Level and county level Zhangye City were abolished, and prefecture level Zhangye City and sub prefecture level Ganzhou district were established. On July 1, it was officially established. Minle is one of the five counties and one district under the jurisdiction of the city. In 2004, the reply of Zhangye Municipal People's Government on the adjustment of township administrative divisions (zhangzhengfa No. 79): Beitan township was abolished and merged into Liuba town; Lizhai township was abolished and merged into Xintian town; Yangfang township was abolished and merged into nangu town. On November 24, 2004, the people's Government of Minle county (No. 120 of civil administration) approved to cancel Beitan Township and merge it into Liuba town. Liuba town is named after the merger of the two towns. The town government is located in Liunan village, with a total area of 193 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 22 village committees, 207 villager groups, 5454 households and 23163 people, including 1412 non-agricultural population. On April 7, 2005, the people's Government of Minle County issued the notice on the adjustment of the administrative divisions of Liuba Town, Xintian town and nangu town (No. 35 of civil administration) and agreed to cancel Beitan Township and merge it into Liuba town; cancel Lizhai Township and merge it into Xintian town; cancel Yangfang Township and merge it into nangu town. Beitan township is merged into Liuba Town, which is called Liuba town after the merger. The town government is located in Liunan village, with a total area of 193 square kilometers. It governs 19 village committees, 208 villager groups, 5454 households and 23163 people, including 1412 non-agricultural population. Lizhai township is merged into Xintian Town, which is called Xintian town after the merger of the two towns. The town government is located in Hanying village, with a total area of 253.5 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 30 village committees, 159 villager groups, 6745 households and 26837 people, including 958 non-agricultural population. Yangfang township is merged into nangu Town, which is called nangu town after the merger of the two towns. The town government is located in Chengdong village, with a total area of 230.64 square kilometers. It governs 28 village committees, 154 villager groups, 6713 households and 25815 people, including 964 non-agricultural population.
