Yuzhong County, a county under the jurisdiction of Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is located in the central part of Gansu Province, with Qilihe and Chengguan districts in the west, Anding District of Dingxi City in the East, Lintao County in the southwest, Gaolan and Pingchuan District of Baiyin City across the Yellow River in the north, Jingyuan and Huining counties in the northeast. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north, and low in the middle. It has a temperate continental climate with a total area of 3301.64 square kilometers and governs 8 towns 15 rural areas; in 2017, 469083 registered residence and 13 ethnic minorities.
Yuzhong county passes through the ancient Silk Road in three ways. Xinglong Mountain is a national 4A scenic spot and National Nature Reserve. Qingcheng, an ancient town, is listed as a "national famous historical and cultural town" because of its historical and cultural relics and Ming and Qing Dynasties ancient buildings. The county has developed transportation, with Lanzhou Xinjiang second line, Lanzhou Chongqing railway, Baoji Lanzhou passenger dedicated line, high-speed railway and expressway running through the north and south. On December 13, 2018, it was selected into the list of agricultural products advantage areas with Chinese characteristics. On April 28, 2019, the Gansu Provincial Government approved Yuzhong county to withdraw from poverty-stricken counties.
In 2017, Yuzhong county achieved a GDP of 10.478 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.4%. Among them, the first industry was 1.693 billion yuan, up 6.2% year on year; the second industry was 2.741 billion yuan, up 2% year on year; the third industry was 6.044 billion yuan, up 10.9% year on year.
In 2021, "Gansu blue book" won the title of "top ten counties" in Gansu county comprehensive competitiveness.
Historical evolution
Yuzhong was inhabited by its ancestors in the Paleolithic age about 15000 years ago. It was the residence of Qiang people in ancient times and later occupied by Huns.
From the Warring States period to the northern and Southern Dynasties, there were two Yuzhong in northern China. Yuzhong in the West was in today's Yuzhong County of Gansu Province, while Yuzhong in the East was between today's Hohhot and Baotou in Inner Mongolia.
In the 33rd year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (214 BC), Mengtian "expelled Xiongnu in the northwest, and from Yuzhong to the east of the river, it belonged to Yinshan, which was regarded as 34 counties (one was 44 counties), and the city river was a fortress". It is located in Donggang Town, Chengguan District, Lanzhou City, and is subordinate to Longxi County. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, it was again captured by the Huns.
In the second year of Yuanshuo (127 BC), Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty restored Yuzhong county to Longxi County. Yuanshou two years (121 BC) home warrior County, jurisdiction yuzhongyuan River northeast area, governance in today's Dingxi County. Later, Yuzhong and warrior counties were changed to Tianshui county. In the sixth year of the first Yuan Dynasty of emperor Zhao (81 BC), Jincheng county was established. Yuzhong County was changed to Jincheng County, and warrior county was still Tianshui county. In the 17th year of Yongping (74th year), Emperor Ming changed Tianshui county to Hanyang County, and governed warrior county. Yuzhong county still belonged to Jincheng county. In 184, the northern part of warrior county was occupied by qianghu.
During the Three Kingdoms period, Yuzhong County belonged to Jincheng County under the Cao Wei regime. In 355, Yuzhong County was occupied by Qianliang Liyan. In the first year of emperor Xiaowu (376), the former Qin Dynasty destroyed Qianliang, and Yuzhong belonged to the former Qin Dynasty. In the 10th year of the Taiyuan Dynasty (385), Qifu Guoren of Xianbei nationality built a warrior city in Yuanchuan, established the Western Qin Dynasty, and set up 12 counties including Yuanchuan. Yuzhong County was subordinate to Yuanchuan county.
In 439, the county was abolished and Yuzhong town was set up. In 524, Emperor Xiaoming abolished Yuzhong town and restored Yuzhong county to Jincheng county.
Yuzhong County was abandoned in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and it was still Jincheng county.
In 581, the first year of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, Lanzhou was newly established, with Jincheng county and linzicheng county. In the third year of kaihuang's reign (583), the administrative system was established at the prefecture and county levels. There were four counties in Lanzhou, including lingzicheng County, where Zicheng county was governed. In the third year of Daye (607), Yangdi changed Lanzhou into Jincheng county and Zicheng County into Jincheng county.
In 618, Jincheng county was changed to Lanzhou, and Jincheng county was abolished. Its land was located in Wuquan County, belonging to Lanzhou. In 671, Wuquan county was changed to Jincheng county. Xuanzong Tianbao Yuanwu (742), also changed to Wuquan county. In 762, Yuzhong was trapped in Tubo.
In 1036, Li Yuanhao of Xixia conquered Yuzhong and occupied the ancient city of Kangxi in Tubo. In the third year of Qingli (1043), Li Yuanhao changed the ancient city of Kang into a niche Valley City. In August of 1081, the fourth year of Shenzong Yuanfeng, Li Xian, the economic and strategic envoy of song Xihe Road, led his troops to conquer the niche Valley City of Xixia, and changed the city into a village. Yuanyou seven years (1092), abandoned niche Valley Village, Qingzhou Zhizhou Muyan built Dingyuan city. In 1096, Sannian (the third year of Shaoxing) rebuilt the nichangzhai as a fortress. In the third year of Chongning (1104), the western part of Yuzhong county now belongs to Lanquan County of Lanzhou. In the first year of Shaoxing (1131), Jin people invaded the whole territory of Yuzhong.
In 1270, Jinzhou was under the jurisdiction of xingzhongshu province of Shaanxi Province.
In the second year of Hongwu (1369), Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, Jinzhou was demoted to Jinxian County, and its administrative office was moved to the present Chengguan Town, belonging to Lintao Prefecture. Xianzong Chenghua four years (1468), changed to Lanzhou.
In the early Qing Dynasty, Jin county was changed to Lintao Prefecture. Qianlong three years (1738) and belongs to Lanzhou.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Lanzhou and gongchang were merged as Lanshan Road, and Jin county was Lanshan road. In 1919, Jincheng county was changed to Jincheng County in August and Yuzhong County was restored in October. In 1927, Yuzhong County was changed to the District of Lanshan. In 1928, Yuzhong County was directly under the Gansu provincial government. In May 1936, it was subordinate to the office of the first Commissioner of administrative supervision. In August 1941, Zhili was established in the provincial government. In December 1944, it was subordinate to the ninth Office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision. On August 16, 1949, Yuzhong County was liberated and Yuzhong County People's government was established under Huining Commissioner's office. In September, it was transferred to Dingxi Commissioner's office.
In September 1956, the people's Government Committee of Yuzhong County was changed into the people's Committee of Yuzhong County. In January 1968, Yuzhong County Revolutionary Committee was established. In April 1970, it was under the jurisdiction of Lanzhou city. In January 1981, the Revolutionary Committee of Yuzhong County was abolished and the people's Government of Yuzhong County was restored.

In 2016, the Department of civil affairs of Gansu Province approved the abolition of Lianda Township, Xinying Township and Gongjing Township in Yuzhong County and the establishment of Lianda Town, Xinying town and Gongjing town.
By the end of 2016, Yuzhong County had jurisdiction over 8 towns and 15 townships: Chengguan Town, Xiaguanying Town, Gaoya Town, Jinya Town, Heping Town, gancaodian Town, Qingcheng Town, Dingyuan Town, Lianda Town, Xinying Town, Gongjing Town, laizibao Town, Sanjiaocheng Town, xiaoxiaoying Town, Yinshan Town, Mapo Town, qingshuiyi Town, Longquan Town, Weiying Town, Zhonglianchuan Town, yuanzicha Town, shanghuacha town and haxian town 268 villages and 4 communities, 1617 villager groups. The county people's government is located at 258 Xinglong Road, Chengguan town.

Yuzhong county is located in the central part of Gansu Province and the eastern suburb of Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, between 103 ° 49 ′ 15 ″ - 104 ° 34 ′ 40 ″ E and 35 ° 34 ′ 20 ″ - 36 ° 26 ′ 30 ″ n. Yuzhong county is located on the west side of Qilu Helan Mountain structure. Xinglongshan fault in the county belongs to the East extension of Qilian Mountain structural belt, Yuzhong county crop branch; yuanchuanhe fault belongs to the East extension of Jinchengguan fault. Later, it was strongly influenced by Longxi system convolution, and the geological structure was complex. The surface of Yuzhong county is mostly covered by Quaternary loose sediments, and the bedrock is exposed only in pre Sinian and Sinian of Archean, Jurassic and Cretaceous of Mesozoic and tertiary and Quaternary of Cenozoic. The strata in the county are not fully developed, and the Triassic system of Paleozoic and Mesozoic is missing. The intrusive rocks in the county are mainly acidic magmatic rocks. The intrusive age is pre Paleozoic and late Early Paleozoic.
Yuzhong county is located in Longxi Loess Plateau, most of which are covered by loess and inclined from southeast, northeast to northwest. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north, low in the middle, saddle shaped. The terrain is divided into three parts: Rocky Mountain in the south, hilly gully in the middle and loess hilly in the north. In the north and northeast, there are undulating mountains and ravines. The southwest is a cold and humid area, with Maji mountain and Xinglong Mountain in a row, and dense forests, with an altitude of 1900-3000 meters. The central part of Sichuan Province, with an altitude of 1400-2000 meters, is the main grain production area and economic crop area. Maji mountain, the highest peak in the territory, is 3671 meters above sea level, while Dongtan village, Qingcheng Town, the lowest point is 1432 meters above sea level. According to the altitude and terrain conditions, it can be divided into three types: northern arid mountain area, southern alpine eryin mountain area and central Sichuan Plateau valley area.
