In the Qin Dynasty, Gaobeidian belonged to Guangyang county.

During the Anti Japanese War (1937-1945), Gaobeidian City successively belonged to four special districts, five special districts and ten special districts of Jizhong district.

On August 27, 1962, Zhuoxian and Xiongxian counties were analyzed and the original system of Xincheng County was restored. The county government was stationed in Xincheng town.

In 1970, the county government moved to Gaobeidian.

On April 9, 1993, with the approval of the State Council, Xincheng County was abolished and Gaobeidian City at the county level was established.

At the end of 2018, liangjiaying township was officially approved by the Hebei provincial government, successfully realizing the removal of township into town, which also marks the withdrawal of the last "township" of Gaobeidian City from the historical stage.

On April 9, 2019, liangjiaying Township held a listing ceremony to remove the township and set up a town, opening a new chapter.
