Ningqiang County Ningqiang County is located in the southwest corner of Shaanxi Province, with Qinling Mountains in the north and Bashan mountains in the south. The county has jurisdiction over 16 towns, 2 sub district offices and 200 administrative villages, with a total population of 340000. Ningqiang is located in the intersection of Qinling and Bashan mountains. It is high in the southeast and low in the northwest. Ningqiang has abundant rainfall and humid air. Most of the area has a warm temperate mountainous humid monsoon climate, with high precipitation intensity, and the maximum annual precipitation is 1812.2 mm.
Ningqiang County is a mountainous county where the north meets the south, and it is the main gateway and golden channel from the northwest to the southwest. Baocheng and Yang'an railways run across the county, 108 National Highway and Xihan Expressway pass through the county. It is the birthplace of Hanjiang River and is known as "the first city of Hanjiang River in three thousand li". In November 2015, Ningqiang County was named "the hometown of Nuo culture of Qiang Nationality in China" by China Association for democracy and people's livelihood.
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce. On February 2, 2019, it was rated as the county-level advanced unit of Chinese medicine by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. On February 27, 2020, with the consent of Shaanxi provincial government, Ningqiang County officially withdrew from the poverty-stricken county sequence. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the National Health township (county) naming list of 2017-2019 cycle.

It was occupied by Diqiang in Shang and Western Zhou Dynasty.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, baimadi occupied the West and Shu occupied the East. The whole territory is under the jurisdiction of Qin Dynasty.
Jiameng county was located in the Han Dynasty. Shuhan is Hanshou County. In Jin Dynasty, Han Shou was changed into Jin Shou.
Sui belongs to miangu county.
In 620, it was divided into miangu county and Jinniu county was established in Tonggu town (now Da'an Town). This was the beginning of the establishment of county governance in the territory.
In the fourth year of Wude of Tang Dynasty (621), Sanquan county and Jiamu county were divided into miangu county and Jinniu county and Jiamu county.
In the first year of Tang Tianbao (742), Sanquan county government moved from the old county site to 120 Li northeast, which is now Tangdu drum arena.
In the first year of Tang Baoli (825), Jinniu county was reduced to town and merged into the West County.
Song Dynasty, the Northern Song Dynasty Qiande five years (967) Sanquan County Zhili capital. Sanquan County Zhili capital up to 137 years, set a precedent for the central county. In the second year of Zhidao (996), the Da'an army was set up in the west of Sanquan county. In the third year, the army was abolished. In the third year of Shaoxing (1133), the army was restored.
In the early Yuan Dynasty, daanzhou was established in Jinniu Town (now Daan town), and in 1283, it was demoted to Daan County, belonging to mianzhou.
It was incorporated into Mianxian County in the early Ming Dynasty. In 1370, Da'an county was abolished.
In the 27th year of Hongwu (1394) of Ming Dynasty, the rank and Wen army were in chaos. Taizu sent Ningzheng to fight for the general of pingqiang. The next year, in chaos, Ningzheng was placed in Huizhou.
Ningqiang Prefecture was established in 1485 of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty. Because it was a place where Di and Qiang lived in ancient times, it was named Yongning, a place where Qiang people lived.
After the revolution of 1911, Ningqiang County was established in 1913.
In 1928, it was directly under the provincial government.
In 1935, the Fourth Front Army of the red army conquered Ningqiang and established two county-level Soviet regimes, Ningqiang and Yangpingguan. Ningqiang County became a part of the Sichuan Shaanxi revolutionary base. The red army went northward to build and restore the old style.
In 1942, Ningqiang County was changed to Ningqiang County. Yu Youren once gave Ningqiang four words of "Anning Qianggu" and said: "it can explain the name of new county".
On December 11, 1949, Ningqiang was liberated.
In 1949, it belonged to southern Shaanxi administrative region.
In 1951, it belonged to Nanzheng district.
In 1953, it belonged to Hanzhong District.
In 1958, the county system was abolished, and the jurisdiction was assigned to Fengxian County and Hanzhong City.
In 1969, it belonged to Hanzhong area.
In 1996, Hanzhong was set up as a city, and Ningqiang County became a county of Hanzhong City.

In December 1949, the county set up Chengguan, Da'an, Zazhong, Yangpingguan, yanzibian, Fenghuang, Tianchi, Tiantai, and Jing'an districts, with townships and villages. In May 1950, xiegazhong district was merged into Da'an district and Yangpingguan district; yanzibian district and Fenghuang district were merged into guangpinghe district; the county was divided into seven districts and 72jie township.
In June 1951, each district was named by ordinal number. In September, the eighth district was added, namely, Chengguan District 1, Daan District 2, Yangpingguan District 3, Guangping District 4, Tianchi District 5, Tiantai District 6, Jing'an District 7, daijiaba District 8. Sunjialing and Lijiaba townships are added in the Sixth District. In the seventh district, two townships of guazishan and xiaobaocheng were added. There are 76 streets in total.
In 1953, seven townships of Liping, yuanbazi, chanjiayan, wulangba, bancangba, xiaobaocheng and guazishan in the seventh district, three townships of sunjialing, Lijiaba and shuitianping in the Sixth District, two townships of zhangjiaqiao and tangjiaba in the Fifth District and songpingzi administrative village in tiesuoguan Township were included in the Central District of Liping; four districts of yanzibian, Shujiaba, tiesuoguan and fengjiaying were added; there were 11 districts and 90 streets in the county Township, 355 administrative village.
In August 1956, districts were withdrawn and townships merged. Four districts, namely, the Fifth District (yanzibian), the seventh district (Shujiaba), the Tenth District (Hujiaba) and the eleventh district (fengjiaying), were abolished. The county governs seven districts, namely Chengguan, Daan, daijiaba, Yangpingguan, Guangping, maopinggou and tiesuoguan, with 52 townships. In 1958, miaoba Township in Lueyang County, chanjiayan and sandaohe in Liping district (in April 1957, Wangcang County in Sichuan Province was assigned to Liping District), and shuitianping township (in 1953, Ningqiang County was assigned to Liping Central District) were assigned to Ningqiang County, belonging to three districts, namely Da'an, maopinggou and tiesuoguan. In September of the same year, seven districts were changed into seven communes, and the original township (town) was changed into 55 administrative districts.
In May 1961, seven communes were abolished, the district system was restored, and the management area was changed into (small) commune. The county had seven districts, 50 communes, 366 production brigades (hereinafter referred to as production brigades) and 2397 production brigades. In 1962, it was adjusted to 53 communes, 365 production teams and 2225 production teams. In 1964, it was adjusted into two towns, 55 communes, 365 brigades, 4 neighborhood committees and 2539 production teams. In 1965, it was adjusted to 54 communes in 2 towns. In 1966, there were 54 communes in 7 districts. In 1981, there were 52 communes in 7 districts and 2 towns.
In March 1984, the commune was changed into a township, the production team into a village, and the production team into a village group; the traditional place name was restored, and the county was divided into seven districts, two towns, and 52 townships. In 1986, Chengguan town was directly under the jurisdiction of the county; Da'an, Yangpingguan and Qianqiu were classified as township level towns; the county had 7 districts, 1 county town, 3 township level towns, 50 townships, 367 villages, 8 neighborhood committees and 2460 villager groups.
In 1996, gaozhaizi and luocunba were merged into gaozhaizi Town, wangjiaping and Jinjiaping into Chengguan Town, Shahezi into Shujiaba Town, Sangshuwan, baiyanglin and liejinba into Daan Town, daijiaba, nanshahe and Xujiaba (except that liuxigou village is assigned to zengjiahe township) into daijiaba Town, dachanggou Township and Tangdu Township into Yangpingguan town Qianqiu Town, yanzibian Township, Xinchang Township and Zhongba Township were merged to set up yanzibian Town, Guangping Township and jinshansi Township were merged to set up Guangping Town, Qingmuchuan Township and yuquanba Township were merged to set up Qingmuchuan Town, tiesuoguan Township, Zhoujiaba Township and pingxihe Township were merged to set up tiesuoguan Town, Hujiaba Township, Longwang Township and laodaiba Township were merged to set up Hujiaba Town, maobahe Township, sandaohe Township and Dazhuba Township were merged to set up Li maobahe town. In 2001, dishuipu township was abolished and merged into Chengguan town and renamed Hanyuan town; Shuanghe Township and zhubahe Township were abolished and merged into Yangpingguan town; bahaihe township was abolished and merged into anlehe township; shuitianping township was abolished and merged into Erlangba township; maopinggou Township and guankouba Township were abolished and merged into Bashan town. After the adjustment, Ningqiang County governs 12 towns and 14 townships: Hanyuan Town, gaozhaizi Town, Da'an Town, daijiaba Town, Yangpingguan Town, yanzibian Town, Guangping Town, Qingmuchuan Town, maobahe Town, tiesuoguan Town, Hujiaba Town, Bashan Town, Shujiaba Town, miaoba Town, Nanping Town, kuanchuan Town, gongjiahe Town, donghuanggou Town, zengjiahe Town, taiyangling Town, cangshe Town, Juting town Anlehe Township, chanjiayan Township, huangbayi Township, Erlangba township.
In 2011, huangbayi township was merged into Hanyuan Town, Nanping Township and kuanchuan Township were merged into Daan Town, donghuanggou township was merged into daijiaba Town, zengjiahe Township and Juting Township were merged into Juting Town, and Shujiaba Township, miaoba Township, gongjiahe Township, taiyangling Township, cangshe Township, anlehe Township, Erlangba Township and chanjiayan Township were merged into Juting town.
