Due to the compression of the north and South grabens, Tongwen mountain area rose strongly, resulting in the appearance of Qinling Mountains. The north of piedmont fault became loess platform because of the proluvial and aeolian processes since Quaternary. Huangwei river valley was formed in the north of Taiyuan by long-term flood.
