topographic features
Zezhou county is surrounded by mountains in the East, West and south. The mountains are steep and tend to the center, and the north and middle part is hilly area. The landforms are distributed alternately between Loess Plateau and folded mountain plate, with a variety of landforms such as mountains, hills, and Pingchuan area, forming a high in the north and low in the South wavy landscape.
The mountainous landform is distributed in the mountainous area in the southeast of Zezhou County, with great undulation. The relative elevation difference is generally about 800 meters, covering an area of 1.971 million mu, accounting for 60.8% of the total area of Zezhou county. The area is dominated by sharp ascending and descending structural action, accompanied by water erosion and weathering denudation. The mountain is mainly composed of Cambrian, Ordovician limestone and metamorphic rocks. Most of them are upright and steep one-sided mountains and protruding peaks of different heights. There are sharp ridges, overlapping hills, uneven slopes and narrow valleys.
Hilly landforms are distributed in Dayang, Donggou, Xiacun, Chuandi, Zhoucun, beiyicheng, Shuidong, Jincun, Gaodu and other towns. The relative height difference is generally about 200 meters, covering an area of 1.02 million mu, accounting for 30.9% of the total area of Zezhou county. Limestone, Sandy Rock and sandstone in this area are all covered by loess, red soil and red loess. Under the action of long-term weathering, denudation and water erosion, they have strong undercutting, narrow ditch bottom and mostly V-shaped. Due to the continuous decline of invasion datum level and the deep loess coverage, most of them are divided into long and narrow beam fields by erosion ditches. The ridge is wavy, and the hillside is ladder shaped. Since the ridge and hillside continue to be covered with deposits of different thickness, there is a more regular arrangement. When you look at it from a high angle, the loess hills are like undulating waves and crisscross valleys.
The landform of Pingchuan District is distributed in Nancun, Bagong and other towns. The relative height difference is only about 50 meters, covering an area of 270000 mu, accounting for 8.3% of the total area of Zezhou county. The terrain of this area is flat and open, with micro domain changes of ridge and hillock undulation. It is the modern flood sediment of the river, with a binary structure of fine upper and coarse lower. The soil layer is mainly composed of thick Pleistocene loess accumulation with a thickness of 5-15m, and the lower layer is gravel layer. The ratio of mountainous area, hilly area and plain area is 6 ∶ 3 ∶ 1. The highest point is the main peak of wusheng mountain in the northwest, with an altitude of 1346.6 meters. The lowest point is sanguquan at the exit of Danhe River, with an altitude of 296 meters and a relative elevation difference of 1050.6 meters. The average altitude is between 650 and 1000 meters. The territory of mountains, North sparse South dense, are Taihang Mountains. The mountains above 1100 meters above sea level are wusheng mountain, Xiangshan Mountain and dagenao
