Zhongxian Zhongxian is located in the middle of Chongqing and the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area, 210 kilometers away from the main city. Zhongzhou was given the name of Zhongzhou by Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty in the eighth year of Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty, and Zhongxian was established in the second year of the Republic of China. It is the only state, county and city named "Zhong" in Chinese history.
By the end of 2018, Zhongxian County has 29 township streets including Zhongzhou, Baigong, Xinsheng, Wuyang, Bashan, Shibao, Baishi, Shanguang and Shizi, covering an area of 2187 square kilometers and a population of 1.02 million. The majority of them are Han nationality, including Tujia, Hui, Miao and other ethnic minorities.
Zhongxian County is a national civilized county, a national health county, a National Garden County, a national demonstration county for comprehensive reform of public hospitals, a national ecological civilization pilot demonstration area, and a national advanced county for food production. It has won the honorary titles of "China's most influential international tourist destination", "China's largest pig county", "and" China's brave city for a just cause ". In May 2020, it will be selected into the demonstration list of new urbanization construction in the county. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the list of national health towns (counties) to be reconfirmed in 2019.

In the fifth year of Yuanding reign of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty, Linjiang county was set up, still belonging to Ba County.
Wang Mang's new policy changed Linjiang into Jianjiang.
Linjiang county was renamed in the Eastern Han Dynasty.
The sixth year of Liang Datong (540) divided Ba County into Linjiang county and Linjiang county. The county is located in Linjiang county.
In 553, Linjiang County of Chuzhou was set as Linzhou, and Linjiang county was still set as Linzhou. Linjiang county is the seat of state and county administration.
In the third year of kaihuang (583) of Sui Dynasty, all the counties were abolished and Linjiang county was still set up. Daye three years (607), strike state, county to belong to Badong County. In 618, the second year of Yining in the late Sui Dynasty, Linzhou was restored, leading Linjiang and Fengdu counties.

In the first year of Tianbao (742), Zhongzhou was changed into Nanbin county. In the first year of Qianyuan Dynasty (758), Zhongzhou was restored and led by Linjiang, Dianjiang, Fengdu, Nanbin and Guixi counties.
In the first year of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty (1265), duzong Qiandi was promoted to Xianchun Prefecture. Because of the war at the end of Song Dynasty, he moved to huanghuazhou.
In the 21th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1284), Zhongzhou was renamed, and its governance was returned to Linjiang county. Zhongzhou led Linjiang County, Nanbin county and Fengdu County.
In Hongwu Middle School of Ming Dynasty, Linjiang county was governed by Zhou, and Zhongzhou was governed by the old city of Linjiang county. Zhongzhou led Fengdu and Dianjiang counties.
In 1648, Zhu Rongfan, the governor of Hunan Province in the Ming Dynasty, became the governor of Kuizhou and changed Zhongzhou into Dading Prefecture. Yongzheng 12 years (1734) rise Zhongzhou Zhili Prefecture, led Fengdu, Dianjiang, Liangshan three counties.
In April 1913, Zhongzhou was abolished as Zhongxian County, which was subordinate to Dongchuan Road. In 1935, it was transferred to the ninth administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.
On December 7, 1949, the officers and men of the second West Lake detachment of the fourth field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered the city and liberated Zhongxian County. On December 8, the Zhongxian temporary public security committee, composed of people from all walks of life, was established. On December 12, the people's Government of Zhongxian County, with cadres of Southwest Service Regiment as the main body, was established. In December of the same year, Zhongxian County was subordinate to Wanxian District of East Sichuan administrative office. In January 1950, with the approval of the Southwest Bureau of the CPC, Zhongxian County Committee of the CPC was established. In January 1951, the Baojia system was abolished, the Baojia system was changed into a village, the Baojia system was changed into a neighborhood, and a new township political power was established. Since 1953, Zhongxian County has been under the management of Wanxian County Office of Sichuan Province (later known as Wanxian district administrative office). In June 1997, Zhongxian County was transferred from Sichuan Province to Chongqing municipality directly under the central government, and Wanxian city (later renamed Wanzhou District) was in charge. In February 1998, Chongqing Wanxian immigration Development Zone (later Wanzhou immigration Development Zone) was set up to take charge of Zhongxian and other six counties. On June 25, 2000, Wanzhou immigration development zone was abolished and Zhongxian County was directly managed by Chongqing Municipality.

The period of the Republic of China
At the beginning of the Republic of China, the system of Qing Dynasty was followed. In 1913, Zhongzhou was changed to Zhongxian, which was subordinate to chuandongdao (renamed dongchuandao in 1914). Fengdu, Dianjiang and Liangshan counties under the jurisdiction of Zhongzhou were also included.
During the period of the Beijing government, Zhongxian County was established as a county assistant in Lujing (now the well site of Gan, Shunxi village, Zhongzhou town) and Dunli Bajia (now the town of Bashan).
In 1921, the county was divided into four districts: East, West, South and North, with jurisdiction over 13 townships except Chengxiang.
In 1928, Zhongxian County was directly under Sichuan Province.
In October 1930, four districts were increased to seven. The first district governs Qianxiang and urban and rural areas in the former Southern District (the former Chengxiang is changed to urban and rural areas), the Southern District is renamed as the Second District, the eastern district is renamed as the third district, the Fourth District governs Ruxi in the former Eastern District and guanba in the former Northern District, the northern district is renamed as the Fifth District, the Sixth District governs Yongfeng and Bashan townships in the former western district, and the seventh district governs Huaqiao and Tongde townships in the former western district. Under the township, every hundred families is a Lu, and every ten families is a neighbor.
In 1931, it was divided into 5 districts and 71 townships (3 towns and 68 townships). In memory of Du Fu, who once lived in Zhongzhou in history, "in the Three Gorges of Zhongzhou, the well and town gather in the cloud roots." Bai Juyi (named Letian) and Su Shi (named Dongpo) changed Zhongguan, Dongguan and Xiguan into yungen, Letian and Dongpo towns respectively.
In 1935, Zhongxian County was transferred to the ninth administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province. The township and town offices were changed into joint insurance offices. There are 3 districts and 24 joint insurances.
In 1936, there were four districts and 51 joint insurances.
In 1940, the township and town offices were rebuilt. The three joint guarantees of Lotte, Dongpo and yungen were abolished, and Jingzhong town was merged. The county has 4 districts and 29 townships (3 towns and 26 townships).
In March 1941, the first and second districts were cut down. The towns and townships were directly under the jurisdiction of the county, with instructors. At that time, there were 50 towns and townships (5 towns and 45 townships), 740 insurances and 7440 class A.
In 1944, the first and second districts were restored. There are 4 districts and 53 townships (6 townships and 47 townships).
In 1946, there were 4 districts, 50 towns (3 towns, 47 townships), 733 baos and 7089 Jias.
The period of the people's Republic of China
In December 1949, Zhongxian belonged to Wanxian District of Eastern Sichuan Administrative Office (provincial level), and since 1953, it has belonged to Wanxian District of Sichuan Province (renamed Wanxian District in 1968, Wanxian city in 1992, Chongqing City in 1997, Wanxian immigration Development Zone in 2000).
In 1950, Chengguan town was established by the merger of the original Letian Town, Dongpo town and yungen town. In addition, the rest of Dongpo and yungen districts were set up as Dongyun Township by taking the first word of the two towns, which were under the jurisdiction of one district. There are 1 town, 7 districts, 48 townships, 727 insurances, 7046 class A, 14 sections and 97 resident groups.
In 1951, township and town offices were renamed Township and Town People's governments. Abolish the Baojia system, change the Baojia system into a village, and change the Baojia system into a neighborhood. The original Shibao township was changed into Shibao Town, and three new townships, daling, Yixing and Huangjia, were added. At the same time, Lailong township was abolished and two townships, Tailai and Huanglong, were set up. Eight, nine and Chengguan districts were added. There are 10 districts, 2 towns, 52 townships and 726 villages.
In April 1952, Zhongxian County was divided into 13 districts (excluding Chengguan District) by the order of Chuandong administration. In August, Zhongxian took over all the jurisdiction of Yangdu and Taiji (now Shizi) townships under the jurisdiction of Fengdu County under the order of Chuandong administrative office. Meanwhile, 4 to 14 villages of Honghe Township under its jurisdiction were assigned to Fengdu County. In October, according to the approval order of Wanxian special office, 41 villages in liwang and Zhongxing townships were assigned to Shizhu County. In the same month, through consultation among Zhongxian, Fengdu, Dianjiang and Wanxian counties, the four villages of Hongmiao, Guantang, Qili and Longtou under the jurisdiction of Zhongxian County and the first, eighth and ninth groups of Xinkai village were assigned to Fengdu County, Lujia village of Renhe township was assigned to Dianjiang County, and Maolei village of Zhongxing township was assigned to Wanxian county. At the same time, the county area should be adjusted appropriately. The former Chengguan District was canceled, and Chengguan town was upgraded to district level town. Four townships of Dongyun, Luojing, Shunxi and Fuxing were divided into ten districts; Wanshun township was divided into two districts; Shibao town was changed into Shibao township. Shiji has one town, 13 districts and 53 townships.
In February 1953, shuangzhai, Pengjia, Taibai, Wansong, Jiuting, Baimiao, Nianpan, Shuanglong, Sujia, Shuanggui, Pu'an, Guihua, wangshui, Wanban, Daoguan, Jinlong, Liren, Yuelai, Dongyan, Changling, Tonghe, Pujia and other townships were added (the former Yangdu and Honghe townships were divided into Yangdu, Tonghe and Pujia townships). At the same time, Qinghe township was renamed Xinchang township. In August, the county was divided into one town, 13 districts and 160 townships (namely "small township system"). The new township name was officially used in September.
In March 1954, Shibao town was replaced by Shibao township.
In February 1955, the original twelfth districts were revoked, and Huaqiao, Dong Yan, Xian Zhou and Leshi 4 villages under their jurisdiction were assigned to five districts. Xinhua, essence and Changling 3 townships were classified into six districts, and the 2 townships of Dahe and Huang Qin were classified into nine districts. The original 13 districts were renamed 12 districts.
In January 1956, the original 160 townships were merged into 71 townships (Shibao town was merged into Shibao town).
