Nierong county is a county under the jurisdiction of Naqu city in Tibet Autonomous Region. It is located in the north of Tibet Autonomous Region and the south foot of Tanggula Mountain. Historical evolution
Nie Rong, in Tibetan, means "Pleasant Valley". In the Yuan Dynasty, Nie Rong had three tribes. In the early Ming Dynasty, another tribe was formed. Later, these four tribes, together with some other tribes in Tibet, such as Baqing, Dingqing and so on, formed a large group called "thirty nine ethnic groups" in Tibetan history, and their scope of activities was called "thirty nine ethnic areas".
