Cuomei county is a county under the jurisdiction of Shannan City, Tibet Autonomous Region of the people's Republic of China. It is located in the southwest of Shannan City, the south of Tibet Autonomous Region and the north foot of Himalayas. It is located between 90 ° 56 ′~ 92 ° 00 ′ E and 28 ° 11 ′~ 28 ° 57 ′ n. During the Tubo Period (618-842 AD), cuomei was under the jurisdiction of Yueru. In the 13th century, in the Yuan Dynasty, it was the territory of ten thousand households in Yasang. After liberation
From August 1952 to June 1956, zheguzong and damazong were under the jurisdiction of the Jiangzi sub working committee. On July 1, 1956, when Shannan sub working committee was formally established, zheguzong and damazong were under the jurisdiction of Shannan sub working committee. On April 12, 1959, the 155 regiment of a Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Zhegu, and Zhegu was officially liberated. On June 12, 1959, zheguzong and damazong merged to form the temporary County Committee of Zhegu County, which was subordinate to Shannan sub working committee. In July 1959, Zhegu county Party committee and people's government were formally established. The county is divided into three districts and 15 townships, including 4 pastoral townships and 11 agricultural townships. In 1960, Shannan special area was set up, which divided kazhu Township from NAIDONG COUNTY into Zhegu district (namely Zhegu scenic area, cuomei county). Zhegu county belongs to Shannan District. On December 25, 1961, four townships, namely dangba, Dama, zangda and chin, were set up from Naixi district to form dangba District Committee. On November 2, 1965, Zhegu county changed its name to cuomei county. The people's Government of the county was stationed in dangxu. The area of cuomei county is still in use today. In 1987, the administrative divisions of the county were adjusted to 12 townships and 46 village committees, including dangxu Township, xiazang Township, Xuela Township, Boga Township, Naixi Township, dangba Township, Lumei Township, Juba Township, Zhegu Township, gudui Township, zhaza Township and kazhu township. in 1988, the whole county withdrew districts and merged townships. It governs 12 townships: dangxue Township, xiazang Township, Xuela Township, Boga Township, Naixi Township, dangba Township, Lumei Township, Juba Township, Chigu Township, kudui Township, zhaza Township and kazhu township. In 1999, 12 townships in the county were merged into two towns and two townships; Zhegu Township, kazhu Township and zazha Township were merged into Zhegu township; dangxu Township, Xuela Township, Yumei Township and Boga Township were merged into cuomei township; Naixi Township, chuba Township, Lumei Township, dangba Township and xiazang Township were merged into Naixi township; Gudui township was divided from Zhegu Township and Gudui township was established separately. The origin of county name
"CuO" means Lake in Tibetan, "Mei" means downstream in Tibetan, "cuomei" means downstream of lake. there are two versions about the origin of the place name of cuomei: one is that there is Rimi Lake in the northeast of cuomei County, and the town gets its name from the lower part of this lake; the other is that cuomei county is located in the downstream of Zhegucuo (Lake). the two views have not yet formed a unified understanding, but after years of analysis of word-of-mouth data, most people agree that it is located in the lower part of Rimi lake and named after it. Zhegucuo, Chinese characters have been translated into zheguxika, zheguzong, zheguxigou, shangguxi. In 1960, the two rivers were merged into Zhegu County, which was renamed cuomei County in 1965. cuomei means "under the lake", "downstream of the lake" and "south of the lake" in Tibetan.
