Taojiang County of Taojiang Province, Yiyang County, Hunan Province, is located in the north of Hunan, with a total area of 2068.35 square kilometers, and the total population of 879 thousand and 500 registered residence in the late 2019. In July 1951, Taojiang County was established in six, seven, eight, nine and eleven districts of Yiyang County. Taohuajiang nuclear power station is located in the west of Taojiang County, 20 kilometers upstream of Zishui. Historical evolution
Taojiang belonged to Jingzhou before the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, and Yiyang County before it was established. "Guangyu Ji", "Da Ming Yi Tong Zhi" and Tongzhi "Yi Yang Xian Zhi" all contain: "Yi Yang county was established in Qin Dynasty." In 1381, the 14th year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty, Yiyang County had jurisdiction over 26 Li, of which 11 Li belonged to the whole territory of today's Taojiang river.
In 1654, the jurisdiction of Yiyang County was cut from 26 Li to 23 Li, and Taojiang was still 11 Li.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Yiyang County was divided into seven towns, among which qiobu Town, Taojiang town and Daqiao town are the areas of today's Taojiang County.
In 1938, Yiyang County had jurisdiction over 27 townships and two towns, of which 13 townships were Taogu, Shufeng, Taojiang, Jinsha, Taoyuan, Ziliang, Daqiao, Sanshan, Ruilong, Libu, Mabu, FUBU and Wutan.
In the autumn of 1946, Yiyang County expanded its townships and established 14 townships, among which Taolin township (formerly Taogu and Taojiang), Wufeng township (formerly Shufeng, Sanshan and Ruilong), Biluo township (formerly Wutan and Qiaobu), Jiugang township (formerly Mabu and Libu), Taoyuan Township (formerly Zhiliang and Taoyuan) and Zhiyuan township (formerly Jinsha and Daqiao) are now Taojiang counties.
On August 3, 1949, Yiyang County was liberated and eight administrative districts were set up. The original Baojia district was temporarily retained, of which the sixth, seventh and eighth administrative districts are now Taojiang County. In July 1950, Yiyang County was divided into 11 administrative districts, including 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 districts. It has jurisdiction over 107 townships and towns, which are now Taojiang County.
In July 1951, the Hunan Provincial People's government implemented the CPC Central Committee's instruction that the leadership of a large county with a population of about 1 million could be divided into small ones. It analyzed the six, seven, eight, nine and eleven districts of Yiyang County and established Taojiang County, and prepared to establish the Taojiang County People's Government under the jurisdiction of Yiyang special district. On September 14, 1951, Tianyuan, the first head of the people's Government of Taojiang County under construction, issued the document No. 1 of Minxing Zi, informing the people's Government of Taojiang County to use its new seal. It was officially announced that the people's Government of Taojiang County began to work.
On February 16, 1952, the Central Government Council issued an order officially approving the establishment of Taojiang County People's government. On March 27, 1952, the office of the Commissioner of Yiyang special region forwarded the approval document to the people's Government of Taojiang County in the form of Document No. 354 of Min Xing Zi: "according to the provincial government's order No. 0006 of Min Xing Chuang Zi on March 12, 1952, Taojiang, Lantian, Shuangfeng and other counties have been authorized by the Central South military and political Commission on February 24, and transferred to the Central Government Council for approval on February 16 Since then, Taojiang County has been officially included in the territory of the people's Republic of China.
In November 1952, Yiyang district was abolished and Taojiang County was under the jurisdiction of Changde district. In December 1962, Yiyang district was restored, and Taojiang County was under the jurisdiction of Yiyang district. On March 7, 1994, Yiyang Prefecture was built into a city, and Taojiang County was under the jurisdiction of Yiyang City.

In September 1951, at the beginning of the preparation for the construction of Taojiang County, the administrative districts were divided into 11 districts, 106 townships, 5 towns and 1351 villages.
In 1952, the whole county was changed from big townships to small townships, 111 townships to 278 townships and 1241 villages, and 11 districts remained unchanged.
In January 1953, the district government was changed to the district office. According to the name of the place, the scope of the district towns was adjusted appropriately. The county was divided into 10 districts, one district level town Taojiang Town, under the jurisdiction of 167 townships and 1241 villages were renamed as Dazu.
On May 25, 1956, the districts were withdrawn and the townships were merged. 45 townships and towns were established in the county, 1398 primary cooperatives were established in the countryside, and large groups were cancelled.
In September 1958, 20 people's communes were established in the whole county, and the system of integrating government and society was implemented. 169 production teams and 1553 production teams were under the jurisdiction of the people's commune. In April 1961, the district office was restored and the commune system was reduced. The county has jurisdiction over 10 districts, 3 towns and 47 rural people's communes. 209 production teams are divided into 816 and 1664 production teams into 6733. This administrative division was still in use until February 1984.
In February 1984, the separation of government and society was carried out. 47 Township People's governments and 4 Town People's governments were restored, and 774 production teams were transformed into 774 villagers' committees.
In June 1985, Xiushan, Wutan and Songmutang townships were abolished and converted into towns. The system of town managing village was implemented. The county has jurisdiction over 10 districts, 7 towns, 44 townships and 774 villages.
In December 1986, the district was withdrawn to establish an office, and the three townships and towns of Santang street, Majitang and Huishangang were merged into three towns. Since then, the county has jurisdiction over 41 townships, 7 towns, 774 villages (including 4 forest farms with villages), 38 neighborhood committees, 8000 villager groups and 274 resident groups.
On November 20, 1995, Hunan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs [1995] xiangminxingfazi No. 125 document "reply on the adjustment of administrative divisions of Taojiang County by withdrawing districts and merging townships" and No. 126 document "reply on the withdrawal of townships and the construction of towns in four townships of Taojiang County, including cormorant ferry" said:
1、 Ten district offices in taogushan, Taohuajiang, Xiushan, Santang street, Daligang, Wutan, Majitang, shanshulun, Songmutang and Huishangang were abolished.
2、 The administrative areas of niutanhe, wuqishan, lishanhe, Luojiaping, Silihe and yuanjiaqiao will remain unchanged.
3、 Huangjinshi village of longgongtan township was classified as Huizu township of qiobu. The expanded Huizu Township covers an area of 40 square kilometers and has a population of 17400. It has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee and 18 village committees. The township government is located in FUBU street.
4、 The remaining 41 townships were removed and merged into 17 townships. Namely:
1. Chengguan Town, Taogu mountain and Taohuajiang Township were abolished and Taohuajiang town was merged. It covers an area of 68 square kilometers and has a population of 76400. It has jurisdiction over 14 neighborhood committees and 33 village committees. The town government sets up Zijiang road.
2. Abolish the original Huaguoshan and zhumutan townships and merge them into Huaguoshan townships. With an area of 60 square kilometers and a population of 33400, it has jurisdiction over 31 village committees. Township government in zhumutan.
3. Abolish the original Shuangjiang and Fuqiushan townships and merge them to establish Fuqiushan Township, covering an area of 58 square kilometers with a population of 27900 and governing 26 village committees.
