Milin County, with a total population of 23000, governs three towns, five townships (including one ethnic township) and 100 villagers' committees. The county government is located in dongduo village, 480 kilometers away from Lhasa, the capital of the autonomous region, and 72 kilometers away from Bayi District, where the people's Government of Linzhi city is located. It is subordinate to Linzhi city and is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Milin county.
Luoba culture has been included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Nanyigou is a famous and colorful scenic spot.
In October 2018, the people's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region officially approved the withdrawal of Milin county from poverty-stricken counties (districts). In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support.
