Nanjian Yi Autonomous County Nanjian Yi Autonomous County (hereinafter referred to as Nanjian County) is located in the west of Yunnan Province, the southern end of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, and the junction of Dali, Lincang and Pu'er. It was originally named "Pufu". During the mengshe imperial edict of the Tang Dynasty, Nanjian was named because it was located in the south of the administrative region and between the rivers.
Nanjian County is adjacent to Midu County in the East, Jingdong County in the south, Fengqing County in the west, Yun County in the southwest, and Weishan County in the north. By 2013, Nanjian County has jurisdiction over 5 towns and 3 townships, covering an area of 1731.63 square kilometers, with a total population of 223100.
The tourism resources of Nanjian County are mainly natural landscape and cultural landscape, including Wuliangshan National Nature Reserve, lingbaoshan National Forest Park, lumoshan ancient temple, Shidong ancient temple, Baiyun ancient temple, Li Wenyi site, etc.
On April 30, 2019, the people's Government of Yunnan Province decided to withdraw Nanjian Yi Autonomous County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.
In September 2020, it was awarded the title of "model collective of national unity and progress in Yunnan Province".
Historical evolution
Before 109 BC, Nanjian belonged to Ailao state.
In 109 BC, the Han Dynasty conquered the state of Yunnan and established Yizhou county among the tribes of Kunming and Yi. It extended its power into Ailao and set up immigration points (counties) into Yizhou county. Ailao was forced to give up part of its territory. Now Nanjian has become a free land.
In 69 A.D., Ailao state was attached to the Han Dynasty, and Yongchang County was set up there. Today, Nanjian is an evil dragon county in Yongchang County.
In 225 A.D., the Shu Han Dynasty was divided into Jianning, Yuejun and Yongchang prefectures to set up Yunnan prefectures; today Nanjian belongs to Yunnan prefectures.
In 271 ad, the four counties of Jianning, Xinggu, Yunnan and Yongchang were set up as ningzhou in the Western Jin Dynasty; today Nanjian is still a Yunnan county.
In 420 ad, the Eastern Jin Dynasty perished, and then the Song Dynasty (Southern Dynasty), Qi Dynasty (Southern Dynasty), Liang Dynasty (Southern Dynasty) and other Chinese inland dynasties gradually withdrew from the Yunnan Plateau. After Chen Dynasty (Southern Dynasty) replaced Liang Dynasty (Southern Dynasty), the Chinese inland Dynasties completely abandoned the Yunnan Plateau; now Nanjian has become an autonomous territory of Ailao tumu.
In 738 ad, Ailao people from mengshe (Weishan basin) came to the Erhai Basin and established Nanzhao state. In 765 ad, Nanzhao state established Yinsheng Jiedu in Menggu (Jingdong basin) and governed Menggu and its southern areas, including Yinsheng City, Kainan City, Weiyuan City, Fengyi City, profit City, mangnaidao, liuzhuihe City, Pubai, tongyichuan, hepuchuan and dayinkong Now Nanjian belongs to Yinsheng Festival.
In 937 ad, Duan Siping, the former Nanzhao state's Tonghai Jiedu envoy, entered the Erhai Basin to build Dali state. Along the old system of Nanzhao state, Yinsheng Jiedu was set up in Menggu. In 1096 ad, Dali state abandoned Jiedu, Dudu and other military areas, and set up eight prefectures, four prefectures and four towns. Now Nanjian first belongs to Yinsheng Jiedu, and then to Weichu Prefecture.
In 1253 ad, the great Mongolia destroyed Dali; in 1256 ad, the great Mongolia set up weichuwan households in the former weichufu; now Nanjian belongs to weichuwan households and owes thousands of households.
In 1275, the Yuan Dynasty (the former great Mongolia) changed weichuwanhu to weichulu and Qianhu to zhennanzhou; today Nanjian belongs to Dingbian County of zhennanzhou.
In 1287 ad, the Yuan dynasty ruled Bian county and its jurisdiction was directly under Zhennan Prefecture; today Nanjian is under Zhennan Prefecture.
In 1316, "mengmaonong" (Luchuan state in Chinese translation), a Dai alliance state rising in the Ruilijiang River Valley, occupied zhennanzhou and then abandoned it; in 1343, "mengmaonong" (Luchuan state) pursued the yuan army to Yangbi river area, and zhennanzhou was attached to "mengmaonong" (Luchuan state), "under the control of Baili canal commander daosilang"; today Nanjian belongs to "mengmaonong"( Luchuan).
In 1382, the army of the Ming Dynasty gradually occupied the Yunnan Plateau, and the forces of mengmaonong (Luchuan state) retreated westward; in 1384, the Ming Dynasty established zhennanzhou and Dingbian County in the old area of zhennanzhou, both directly under Chuxiong Prefecture; now Nanjian belongs to Dingbian County of Chuxiong Prefecture.
In 1388, the Ming Dynasty and "mengmaonong" (Luchuan state) had a "Dingbian campaign" in Dingbian county. After the army of "mengmaonong" (Luchuan state) was defeated, Dingbian County became an important military base in the Ming Dynasty.
In 1659 ad, the Qing Dynasty set Bian County along the Ming Dynasty system, which belonged to Chuxiong Prefecture.
In 1729 ad, Dingbian county was abolished, and its jurisdiction was divided into Chuxiong Prefecture in the East, Menghua Prefecture in the middle, and shunning Prefecture in the West.
In 1770, Menghua Prefecture was changed into Menghua hall in Zhili.
In 1912, the Menghua hall in Zhili was changed into Menghua Prefecture; in 1914, Menghua Prefecture was changed into Menghua County, with Nanjian County and Langcang County under it.
In 1932, Nanjian County and Langcang County of Menghua county were abolished and the fourth, fifth and sixth districts of Menghua county were established.
In 1940, Menghua county changed districts into townships.
In 1950, the Communist Party set up a people's Government in Menghua County, which belongs to Dali District. In 1954, Menghua county was changed into Weishan County. In 1956, Weishan County was changed into Weishan Yi Autonomous County.
In 1958, Weishan Yi Autonomous County was changed into Weishan Yi Hui Autonomous County.
On November 27, 1965, Nanjian Yi Autonomous County was officially established under the jurisdiction of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture.

Nanjian County is located in the west of Yunnan Province, at the southern end of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, between longitude 100 ° 06 ′ - 100 ° 41 ′, latitude 24 ° 39 ′ - 25 ° 10 ′. It borders Midu County in the East, Jingdong Yi Autonomous County in the south, Yunxian County in the southwest, Lancang River in the west, Heihui River in the west, Fengqing County across the water, and Weishan County in the north. The county is 59 kilometers from east to west and 55 kilometers from north to south, with a total area of 1731.63 square kilometers.

Nanjian County is located in the longitudinal valley of Hengduan Mountain System in western Yunnan Province, at the junction of Wuliang Mountain and Ailao Mountain. The terrain gradually decreases from the Central South to the northeast and southwest. The highest point of Nanjian County is taijiding mountain in the north, with an altitude of 3061 meters; the lowest point is xiaowanzi along the Lancang River, with an altitude of 994 meters. The terrain is high and middle mountain area. Except for the basin of 10 square kilometers in the county seat, most of them are mountainous or semi mountainous areas composed of river valleys, mountains and slopes. Lancang River, BABIAN River and Lishe river run from the west, dividing the county into four parts: Nanjian River Valley in the north, shidongsi deep valley in the southeast, Gonglang River Valley in the southwest, and mountains in the middle and West. The landforms are mainly composed of erosional structure landforms, erosional accumulation landforms, denudation landforms, fault block mountain landforms and karst landforms.
Climatic characteristics
Nanjian County belongs to the tropical sea land monsoon region in Western China. The climate changes seasonally with the advance and retreat of the sea land monsoon, resulting in a low latitude mountain monsoon climate with distinct dry and wet seasons, unobvious four seasons and the same rainy and hot seasons. Affected by the topography and the trend of high mountains, the light, heat, water and other meteorological elements are redistributed in the vertical and horizontal directions, showing a three-dimensional climate and regional climate of "one mountain is divided into four seasons, with different days apart". The southeast is the rainy area, the southwest is the moderate rain area, and the northeast is the low rain area. The temperature in spring is higher than that in autumn. There is no severe cold in winter and no intense heat in summer. The annual precipitation of the whole county is 867.8 mm, 139.5 mm higher than that of the previous year, 107.3 mm higher than the annual average, which is a little more, the largest since 2008. The annual average temperature is 19.3 ℃, the annual extreme maximum temperature is 34 ℃, the minimum temperature is 1.4 ℃, and the annual sunshine hours is 2098.2 hours.
