Historical evolution
In the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty (around 1363), polders were formed in Pengjiang district. Jiangmen market was originally located on the hillside of Penglai, formerly known as "market top". By the beginning of the 17th century, Jiangmen market had begun to take shape. In the first and third years of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1662 and 1664), the Qing government issued two "boundary removal orders" to force coastal residents to move 50 Li inland. Jiangmen was outside the boundary, and Jiangmen residents were forced to move. In 1669, the order of moving boundaries was abolished, and the residents of Jiangmen returned to work. After the Opium War, Jiangmen was opened as a foreign trade port in 1904 according to the Sino British Treaty of continued discussion on Trade and shipping in 1902.
On August 6, 1925, the then Guangdong provincial government decided to make Jiangmen port a municipality directly under the central government of Guangdong Province. On November 26 of that year, Jiangmen City Hall (later the municipal government) was officially established. In 1931, the system of Jiangmen City was abolished and the town was restored to Xinhui county. It has been divided into the second district and the twelfth District of Xinhui county. It was changed into a town in 1933. There are 29 Baojia and 345 Baojia.
On October 23, 1949, Jiangmen was liberated. On October 25, 1949, the military control committee of Jianghui district was established in Jiangmen. The meeting site was located in Jiangmen, and it performed all administrative functions and powers of Jianghui district. Later, because the location was not suitable, it was difficult for the four townships of Xinhui to take care of it. In May 1950, the former Jianghui military control committee was moved to Xinhui City, and Jiangmen office was established to perform administrative functions and powers of Jiangmen district Since liberation, Jiangmen has been under the leadership of Guangdong technical secondary school.
Before 1950, there was no suburban administrative system in Jiangmen.
On January 12, 1951, Jiangmen Town, formerly under the jurisdiction of Xinhui County, was a provincial city. At the same time, Xinhui County designated Shuinan, Zilai, Baisha, Shichong (Baishi, hachong, Beijie city) and Beijie village guijiangmen city. At the end of 1952, Jiaotou township of Xinhui county was assigned to the suburb of Jiangmen City. In March 1953, the suburb of Pengjiang city (Pengjiang district) governed six townships including Zilai, Shuinan, Baisha, Shichong, Jiaotou and Jiaobei, with 20 administrative villages. Foshan area was established on February 7, 1956, and Jiangmen City was designated as the leader of Foshan special area until November 1958. Since November 1958, Jiangmen City has been under the leadership of Zhaoqing special district. Soon it plans to move Zhaoqing special district to Jiangmen, so it was once called Jiangmen special district, but later decided not to move. It is also called Zhaoqing special district.
In November of 1959, Xinmin, Danzao, Huangzhuang and huangbian under the jurisdiction of Xinhui county were assigned to Jiangmen City to expand its suburbs. At the end of 1961, Jiangmen City belonged to Zhaoqing district. In June 1963, Jiangmen City belonged to Foshan district.
On July 1, 1974, with the approval of the higher authorities, Jiangmen City became a provincial city under the dual leadership of the province and Foshan.
In 1977, the area of Jiangmen City was expanded again, and Xinhui county was incorporated into the suburb of Jiangmen City (Pengjiang district).
In 1984, Jiangmen City was divided into two county-level districts, namely, urban district and suburban district. The suburban district has jurisdiction over the three district offices of Waihai, Huanshi and ChaoLian.
On August 10, 1994, the city was renamed Jianghai district and the suburb Pengjiang district.
administrative division
In August 1994, Pengjiang district had jurisdiction over Huanshi, ChaoLian and Beijie, canghou, Didong and shaziwei sub district offices.
On June 22, 2002, Xinhui City was abolished and Xinhui District was established. The three towns of Tangxia, Hetang and Duruan in Xinhui City were put under the jurisdiction of Pengjiang district.
On August 18, 2006, the administrative area of Baisha community neighborhood committee of Huanshi sub district office was incorporated into shaziwei sub district office. Shaziwei sub district office has jurisdiction over the former shaziwei sub district office and the former Baisha community neighborhood committee of Huanshi sub district office. It has jurisdiction over 19 community neighborhood committees, including Yangqiao and Xiyuan, with a total area of 8.175 square kilometers and a total population of 92000. Due to the adjustment of the jurisdiction, shaziwei sub district office proposed to the municipal government in June to change the name of shaziwei sub district office to Baisha sub district office.
In 2012, Pengjiang district governed three towns (Tangxia Town, Hetang Town and durian town) and six streets (Huanshi street, ChaoLian street, Beijie street, Didong street, canghou street and Baisha Street).
In 2020, Pengjiang district will have three towns: Tangxia, Hetang and Duruan, and three sub district offices: Huanshi, ChaoLian and Baisha.
geographical environment
Location context
In 1984, the suburb of Jiangmen City was located in 22 ° 31 ′~ 22 ° 39 ′ N and 113 ° 01 ′~ 113 ° 11 ′ E. It borders Xinhui County in the west, South and North, Zhongshan ancient town in the East and Hetang Town in Xinhui County in the northeast. The land area is 108 square kilometers. In February 1994, the administrative division of the suburb was adjusted. It is located in the North Bank of Jiangmen City, 21 ° to 22 ° 48 'n and 111 ° 37' to 113 ° 15 'E. It faces Jianghai District in the South and Xinhui City in the East, West and North. The land area is 72.36 square kilometers, 28 kilometers from east to west and 27 kilometers from north to south. In August 1994, the suburb was renamed Pengjiang district, and the land area remained unchanged.
In June 2002, the three towns of Hetang, Tangxia and Duruan in Xinhui were incorporated into Pengjiang district, and their geographical location expanded to 22 ° 05 ′~ 22 ° 48 ′ N and 112 ° 47 ′~ 113 ° 15 ′ E. The land area increased to 324 square kilometers. In the southeast, it is separated by Xijiang River and Jiangmen section, facing Nanhai District and Shunde District of Foshan City and ancient town of Zhongshan City respectively; in the south, it is adjacent to Jianghai district across the river and Xinhui District on land; in the northwest, it is adjacent to shaping and Yayao town of Heshan city.
geology
geology
The exposed strata in Pengjiang district are the modern grey black and grayish yellow silt of Quaternary sea land intersection, distributed in the low-lying flat areas such as Tangxia Town, both sides of Tiansha River, Beijie, Didong, canghou and shaziwei street; the lower Cretaceous strata are distributed in Tangxia and durian towns; the middle and lower subgroup strata of Cambrian Bacun group are distributed in Hetang, durian, Huanshi town and ChaoLian street.
The basement of Pengjiang area is mainly composed of sedimentary rocks of sandstone of the Cambrian Bacun group, and the intrusive rocks of Yanshanian granite are secondary. The intrusive rocks are biotite granite in the third stage of Yanshanian period, which is distributed in the hilly area of Tangxia and durian towns, and granodiorite in the second stage of Yanshanian period, which is distributed in the hilly area of Hezhen town.
The geotectonic position of Pengjiang area is the central Guangdong depression of South China fold system. The structure is not well developed, showing Jiangmen fault: most of the faults are covered by Quaternary strata, with a length of more than 31 km, NE strike, Southeast dip and dip angle of 30 °. The fault controls the sedimentation of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata and is the boundary between the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata and the Cambrian niujiaohe formation and Songyuan unit. The rocks in the fault zone are strongly silicified and broken, with fault gouge and mylonitization developed. The early quartz vein in the zone is lenticular under the influence of the later structure. Under the microscope, there are three kinds of quartz in the silicified cataclastic rocks: one is vein like, belonging to the late silicified product; the second is ground fine quartz, which is the product of strong shear fragmentation; the third is elongated quartz particles It is quartz mylonite. In addition, sericite, pyrite, chlorite and other retrograde metamorphism and hydrothermal alteration products. According to the petrofabric diagram, the fault was normal fault activity in the early stage and dextral translation in the late stage. There are abundant linear information in remote sensing image. Xijiang fault: it is a regional large fault, extending along Xijiang River, with a total length of about 23 km and northwest strike, and the area is completely covered by Quaternary strata. It is a normal fault and its growth period is Himalayan.
topographic features
Pengjiang district is a semi enclosed farmland and semi hilly area. The overall terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. From northwest to Southeast, it is wavy and gradually inclined. The northwest is mostly hilly and mountainous. The elevation of mountains is less than 500 meters or the cutting depth is less than 200 meters. Most of the mountains are distributed in the Xijiang River Basin. The rounded "V" shaped valleys on the top of mountains are not developed, and most of them are "U" shaped valleys. The highest peak is chishi mountain in Duruan Town, 457.4 meters above sea level. There are many plains and river terraces in the southeast. The area is mainly composed of terraces, which are widely distributed in various valleys and composed of modern alluvium. The lower part is gravel or sand layer in contact with bedrock. Upward, the particles become fine, generally several meters thick, up to 20 meters thick. The distribution is 0.2km-6km wide, forming a wide alluvial plain, mostly overlaid or inner terrace, 1m-3m above the normal water surface. On the broad terrace, meanders develop. In Jiangmen section of Xijiang River, there are three Jiangzhong islands: Hetang, ChaoLian and guyuzhou.
